I wish that I could find a copy of the original version of The Point. Ringo is okay, but Harry narrated the original version. It's a remarkable video that contains remarkable music. "To be or not to be, that is the point."
Hello! Thank you VERY much for posting the ENTIRE feature "The Point"! I so wish to own this one fine day; I adore it. Saw it YEARS ago & was touched by it, deeply. I have told many a person over the yrs about it. I adore the story, the animation, the music is delicious & it reaches heart, mind & soul! Then, I discover you have uploaded the entire film so now I can keep passing it on & folks can enjoy it all the easier! Thank you VERY much indeed! Got Point? hehe wink wink. God bless & Ciao!
Its a shame that we cant get a copy of the original. There have been four different versions made and the first one narrated by Dustin Hoffman was the best. Thanks for posting this timeless classic.
Thanks for posting. I saw this once.. when i was 10, in '71 and have never forgotten it. My brother, who's 10 years younger than i never did see it, was nicknamed Oblio. He had a jacket with a pointy hood when he was a baby....He's 38 now and he still is often referred to as Oblio by my family..
I had it on the album and saw the cartoon on BBC. I was 6 years old, 39 years ago and I'm not completely burnt out. OMG I remember all to clear. what a gem. Thank You!!!
I watch this for the first time in my math class ( who would of guessed it ) lol well I was watching it and I don't do drugs but i fault I was tripping lol.... But it was a good movie and the music is very good.
I have not seen this film since it aired on ABC back in 1972! The dialog was a bit over my head at the time (I was 9) but it still left an indelible impression on me.
Soo reminiscent of the Schoolhouse Rock and Sesame Street animated shorts of that wonderful era.
Heh.. it definitely has that late 60's post psychedelic flavor to it too (a la Yellow Submarine)
And those voice overs!.. soo familiar to me from those Rankin Bass holiday specials too!
Thank you for posting this. I remember it very well and have over the years wished I could see it again. Excellent!!

Actually Harry Nilsson narrated the story on the album, but the original TV showing of the point was narrated by Dustin Hoffman.

Wow! They made a movie of this!
I always used to listen to it on my grandad's old recordplayer, and then I got it on CD for my birthday a few years ago.
If only I knew about this years ago. I'm a big Nilsson fan (even though I'm 18).

I'll bet you anything that Ringo Starr is the voice of Oblio's dad! Sorry if anybody has already "pointed" that out.
