Good look. I always look to your videos to help me out with my 5000. I hate reading manuals!! lol How do I get a hold of that first beat you were playing?
akai deserves the flack it got over the 5k. The "fixed" shouldve never been issues on a machine that was to replace the 4k as the flagship. 512 ram+built in disk drive+96khz+slave&master usb port+real sampler, not phrase sampler=no comparison..the 4000 is the true last mpc, everything else is a numark/cheap. Whenever i hear that someone bought the mpc 5000 i feel like saying "they got you man"...you could've bought a used Moog or Nord and a used 4000 for what it cost..just being real....
Really helpful video man. Thanks for putting in the time to give this machine it's just due. Still like my 4k the most, but the 5000 is a monster and should be respected.
You missed the point what he said about loading sounds. He was talking about loading one sample and when wishing to assign it to a pad that sample would be the first one in the list ready for pad placement. He wasnt talking about loading a bunch of sounds. Seems to me the MPC 5k still doesnt do this simple feature, or am I missing something?
personally speaking I just feel uncomfortable about Akai these days. Numark always made bad Dj gear way back. They won Akai, things still the same?
I think you are right about just blaze being the motivating factor for akai's update... I just dont understand why it was ever released the way it was before os 2.0.. software devs are all doing this these days video games being a prime example with patches and needed updates due to not finishing products before releasing them.
You gotta understand, Just Blaze is a MPC 4000 user. MPC 4k has a intel chip, 512MB Ram, USB port where you can hook up anything from a TB Hard drive to keyboard to type in file names..All kinds of sound design features. It's a dedicated PC. So if a 4K user buys a 5K and he finds out it can't do half the things the 4k can..he's gonna be pissed.
The akai mpc 5000 cannot save song or sample it will only save the patterns, you must load up all the kit and sample ever dame time, the mpc 4000 does the some dame thing.
This video was LONG overdue. I'm so tired of people not knowing the facts on the Mpc5000. You videos have helped me for years SFS, we all appreciate what you do.
Honestly, I wish they would just upgrade the 4000. I do not like the look of the clunky feel of the 5000. I am not knocking what it can do! I also like how you can upload you files into a daw if you save them on a computer but I just like the 4000. Plus maschine is taking a big chunk out of the MPC!
@CivilIllEnt I hear you loud and clear. To this day the 4k is an amazing sampler with built in future proof (24 bit).
The BIG issue with 4ks today are the Logic boards are dropping like flies. The insides of the 4k are pretty shoddy and during transportation you have a 50/50 chance of the thing breaking. This year alone I have gone through 2 4ks (both logic boards gone, unrepairable). Sadly there is nothing like the 3rd party support for the 4ks like what you can still get for 60's - 3000's etc
@harrymerchant456 I wish I had the know how because I would upgrade the 4000 myself. I would make a better logic board, a better way to load and save sounds, better transfer of data between the computer and the mpc. There is no support for the 4000!
Just Blaze' in-depth rant back then probably helped make the OS 2.0 update that extensive. But as it stands right now what he had to say is obsolete and confusing information. The MPC 5000 is a beast. Your video is 100% on point!
Its still an OVERLY expensive P.O.S. .. then AKAI goes and Discontinues the MPC2500 which was working GREAT. I bought every MPC starting from the MPC60 before the 5K came out. I just loaded beats I made in the 5000 into Battery last week.... Now I have no use for Akai in any way. Adapt or Die
are you kidding me? i have one and the shit is fucking freezin every time.

It still does not make me want one, since the 4000 is still the more powerful MPC to date. I'm going to keep rocking my 4K!

I own a 4K, a 5K and copped a Maschine. They are all fun to use. Sticking to just one production device limits you. I dont like being limited.

how's the sensitivity on the pads for the 5 cuz it looks like your hitting the pads really hard almost like driving nails into wood.

Have you heard of people having issues with the LCD screen burning out? I've seen something about that on YouTube.
