REO Speedwagon's only #1 hits were written by Kevin Cronin, so people saying he was the beginning of the end of full of it. Without him, they would have never made it to the peak of their career.

@1like2rock But without success, the band wouldn't have lasted much longer. With Lutrell or Murphy on vocals, the band wasn't going anywhere, hence the changes made.

Sorry folks this version of REO rocks but REO Speedwagon IS Kevin Cronin. Gary would never let himself be fired unless he lost interest. Who out of the three vocalists they had's voice is on songs that were polished and sold millions of records? It was Gary who wanted Kevin back along with the rest of the band. Together they made great music but Gary lost the fire.

@mcguinn99 Kevin made the band unique. This sounds good, but it sounds like just every other band in the mid 70's... not as much creative or original.

@mcguinn99 Wrong,I read in a interview a while back that The rest of R.E.O went towards having ehalthier lifestyles...

And GR didn;t want  to do this ,so he gwas fired.....it had nothign to do with Gary losing his fire at all

If Neal Doughty had left Gary would never have been able to keep the sound.. highly underrated keyboardist!

Gary Richrath is the most underated guitarist in rock history.

That little punk azz egotistical prick Kevin Cronin kicked him out of his own band!

Neal Doughty is the only remaining original member of REO Speedwagon.

Kevin Cronin had to have all the direction and all the lime light. I do not know how Neal Doughty could betray his band mates like this. All he does is suck Cronin's socks. GARY RICHRATH gave them all the success they have enjoyed.

One of the great advantages of going to school in the Chicago area in the early 70s. Seeing this band at H.S. sock hops for $1.50. I love to tell about summer of 72 saw that REO was coming to Ft. Wayne. Called my friend Mark to invite him down. He said they changed, got a new singer, Kevin Kronin. I asked whats he like?

I repaired/maintained a lot of these guys equipment back in Champaign in the 70's. Great band, great guys. They used to pack the Red Lion! Those days everyone thought that Champaign was going to be the new music city. There was so much good music going down then. These guys made it and lot of others didn't

This is Kick Ass! Noboby was heavier than REO in 1971. Their was probably 10000 bands heavier than REO IN 1981.
