  • I had one of those "cool" grandma's who had a 2004 and a 2008 vette. Now, I've never driven that many sport cars, but these things are insane. Almost scary. I stomped the accelerater once and I will never do it again. It scared the shit out of me. My gma's (she passed away, it now belongs to my dad.) had the optional exhaust, so you can make it loud when you want it but quiet when you need it. The only downside is that I could not, for the life of me, figure out the damn radio!

  • I prefer pop up headlights

  • @moexus thtz tha old 1 but i like em 2

  • This to me is the perfect corvette. The Z06 sounds nice because of it's speed but truth be told I don't really want a car with 505Hp. Don't get me wrong i wont resist it much either but it's just that in the real world this here is enough for me.

  • unrelible my ass chevy detunes these to last longer if they didn't care about about emessions reliblity or anything like that they could make upwards of 700hp.

  • i want one too. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • *These things don't last long. like 200,000 miles. So which is more reliable? Corvette base, or corvette Z06 ????

  • 2008 corvette? are you sure it isn't a 05 corvette?

  • Oh come on, you idiots saying " oh the interior is horrible, it's so crappy"... It has leather, keyless ignition, navigation, heads up display. I lived through the 80's and 90's, none of these new cars interiors are that bad to be adamently complain about. You guys would kill yourselves if you had to drive what I used to, hell my first 3 cars had tape players and roll up windows.

  • interior" not entire" -.-

  • GM...heres an idea...START with a good entire...then go from there....not that hard....if u can do it with a malibu...u can do it with a vette....enough said

  • @coandcaiv Because that's what sports cars are for, having a nice interior.

  • I have never been a huge Vette fan, but I have to give it to them with these newer gen vettes. There is no dought that for the money they are the best performance car on the entire market. The Z06 had just as good if not better performance numbers than cars 2 and 3 times the price. Awesome car!!!!

  • a possible 30 mpg at highway cruise speed or overdrive with over 500 stock horse is beyond words amazing!!!

  • the M3 and Z06 are not in the same category of performance. The M3 would have a tough enough time with a base C6 Z51.

  • Z06 can eat M3 for breakfast

  • Ya, the difference is massive.

I've seen some fools think their riced M3's could stand a chance against a stock Z06.

  • this depends

  • ehm... no hahaha

  • If I had the money I wouldn't consider anything else other than the Corvette. 0-60 in 4seconds, mid-low 12's in the 1/4th, and nearly 30mpg on the highway, I mean c'mon, it's the best.

  • exactly !!! i have to agree to the fullest, the corvette is the most underrated car i think, i'm german and like you said, if only i had the mony it wouldn't take me long anymore to get me a vette over any german/european/jap competitor, no other car maker offers such performance for the dollar as corvette does, that is flat out a fact, anyone who tries to deny is beyond idiotic.

  • @CHUUMPASS YAY! A FOREIGN VETTE FAN!!! thank u for being a corvette fan certainly corvette is the best performence for the dollar

  • woooooooow

    corvette is the best

  • A BMW Z4 more reliable than a Corvette? Um, no.

  • @AloysiusVampa Porsche is more reliable. :)

  • you are an idiot, thats what europeans can't compete with is reliability

  • Compared to the corvette that kicks the Z4's ass. I own a 1985 Silverado 350 + 4bbl carb I bought it from a guy that had it in his yard rotting away. All we did was put some new gas into the carburetor and it started just as well as it did when it left the factory. A z4 would never do that. Also Z4 has NO POWER what so ever. Corvette is a lot better than a shitty ass z4.

  • vay amına koyiimm

  • QUESTION:should i get a bmw z4 2009 or a corvette 2009(both automatic)?

  • unless you want to end up paying too much in the long run I would deffinetly get the corvette

  • neither, get a M3!!!!

  • Corvette =)

  • hmmm this or Porsche, this or Porsche

  • im also there

  • This. Except maybe the Porsche 911 turbo.

  • sick awesome. They didn't even mention the performance versus the competition. There is no car made in America that can compete, and it kills many Ferarri's and most Porsches.

  • oorah to that

  • You're forgetting the viper

  • Except that the Viper fails vs the Vette on the track. Skipad, later G's, my friend. Dodge Viper hasn't gotten close to the Vette in actual track performance.

I think you're talking more about things like 0-60 and top speed, in which case, yes, another great American build.

  • I was mainly talking about the ACR which blows all corvettes away. But I know the normal Viper isn't as good around a track, but it is fairly close.

  • naw dude....yeah the acr blows away all vettes(IM A DIE HARD VIPER FAN).....but when they compared the 06 viper coupe and the zo6 they rated the vipers grip as a 10 and the zo6 as a 7....and around the track the viper was slower by the smallest margin

  • Yeah, I know. I love vipers. They're my favorite car. most of the people that test vipers can't drive worth crap anyway

  • The power from an 8.4L V10 might be a bit of a challenge to control, I could imagine.

  • But these people have driven more powerful stuff.

  • @jacob90909 the acr viper costs TWICE AS MUCH as the c6 corvette, and the similarly priced zr1 is faster. plus, the acr is purely a track car

  • YUP!YUP!

  • you have metal problems the corvette is more than reliable and will beat any car for the price.

  • Than explain to me how I've seen Corvettes that are older than 3 years still running on the road? Better yet, explain to me how I've Corvettes from the 1950's still run around?

  • zr1 beats the lot! The corvette has a good interior with enough 'toys'. You wouldnt say porsches have fantastic interiors or lotus's etc. b'cos they don't.Even the merc slr has plastic dash and costs way too much!

  • The Corvette has always been *almost* the best buy of sports cars, including Porsche and Ferrari. Does it go beyond "almost" here? Maybe. But it has always been much cheaper in terms of purchase and maintenance, so it's close.

  • My God, this one is simply amazing

  • hell ya go chevy

  • Hi Santa, can I have one? I've been....nice...?

  • The Corvette is the best car ever!!! Safe too with a fiberglass body and a tough steel cage around you. Wow it can race supper cars and only cost $50,000.

  • Why is everyone bitching about luxury? Its a race car on budget. CD player is all you need...

  • It's the best car ever, if it had one more thing - luxury.

  • Corvette - 430bhp, 0 to 60mph in 4.3 seconds

    Corvette Z06 - A little over 500bhp, 0 to 60mph in 3.7 seconds

    Corvette ZR1 - Quite a bit over 600bhp, 0 to 60mph in 3.4 seconds

The Corvette competes with the more luxurious Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, the Corvette Z06 competes with the more luxurious Porsche Turbo (or 911 GT2), and the Corvette ZR1... that's an absolute monster, a competitor to the higher end Raris and Lambos. For $105,000 you either get a super fast ZR1 or a super luxurious Mercedes.

  • The Corvette is very fast. The Corvette Z06 is extremely fast. The Corvette ZR1 is a speed demon. Then you have the R8 which is between very fast and extremely fast, but also between very luxurious and extremely luxurious. What sucks about Corvettes is that they sure as hell aren't luxury cars. For $105,000 you either go for a Corvette ZR1 that gets to 60mph in 3.4 seconds and has over 600 horsepower or a Mercedes-Benz CL550 with neverending luxury, but has under 400 hp. Luxury or acceleration?

  • It's more like...ease of maintenance and repair (Corvette) or rape your wallet every time you visit the rare R8 service shop in your area. R8 = overrated, unless you are worth millions and don't mind being gouged for maintenance and still will get PWND by America's premier sports car. CORVETTE - THE KING IS BACK.

  • The R8 is a very luxurious car, and it reaches 60mph in 4.1 seconds. Navigation system, leather upholstery, heated seats, cruise control, remote engine start, rearview camera, premium sound system, 6-disc CD changer, satellite radio, heated cup holders, leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls. you won't get all that luxury in a corvette, unless you pay like an extra $20,000 for those options. if you like american sports cars, consider the cadillac xlr. that is one hell of a car.

  • the c5 z06 has 405 hp the c6 z06 has 505 hp

  • i love this CAR LIKE HELL!!!!shit

  • ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnn

  • i love those cars so much and want to have one so bad

  • my freind tom has a 2008 artic white zo6 with paddle shifters, i drove it, and i did 155 mph like really fast, its 405 hp he gets 28mpg on the highway, with it being a 6 speed automatic tranny, i love this car.

  • if its a z06 it has 505hp not 405:)

  • z06 doesnt come in atuo trans neither artic white(exept RON FELLOWS edition)

  • bro when you sit there and make shit up....at least do your home work.....listen...i was driving my freinds yellow z06 with 505 hp and 6 spd manual...i did 155 really fast! see the difference>?

  • The Z06 actually has 505 HP.

  • its called a 4 cylander, or a straight four

  • my bad...a 4 cyl then...and yes the S2000 has one

  • I own a 08 ZO6 and I average 27+ on the freeway at 65mph.

  • yeah corvette is the only sports car that dosent have to pay the "gas guzzler" tax because it gets great MPG

  • I wouldn't go that far. A lot of less powerful sports cars avoid the gas guzzler tax (Z4, Boxster, S2000, etc). Furthermore, the just-as-quick Porsche 911 also carries no such tax. That said, the 911 can't beat the Z06's straightline speed.

  • yeah well none of those cars have a V8 plus 430hp

so of course a V4 and V6 get good mpg but the corvette as it all..plus a decent price

  • V-4? None of them have V-4's, but they each offer something different to a perspective owner.

  • the S2000 as one..i thought the Z4 also had one but im wrong

  • i drove a automatic vette.. i still had a blast while shifting the automatic all the time ... .. i also live in southern california and if i ever bought a vette a automatic will be for sure considered .

  • dont know about the aut. but i also live in SoCal and the thing i must have is a convertable..nothing like driving down the gold coast Hwy with the top down

  • I have owned 3 vettes and the base coupes have averaged 22 miles per gallon including

autocross and hundreds of drag strip runs. While hwy mileage is 28 to 32 mpg not bad for

a car that will run mid 12s in 1/4mi.My latest

is a 2008 ZO6 in 11000 miles it has averaged

20 mpg with hwy mileage at 26 to 29mpg with

a fastest run of 11.43 at 126.7mph with the

stock runflat tires and 10.92 at 131mph with

    nitto 555 drag radials

  • 32 mpg? Maybe downhill in 6th gear...

  • 436 horse power 30mg, love the corvette.

  • more like 22mpg

  • heh, 22 mpg if you drive it like you should or for the city, while 30+ is for the highway. Just imagine, if the Vette had exactly the same engine/body/etc. but dropped 400 lbs to weigh as much as a Prius, Civic, or similar compact, AND someone drove the Vette like they'd drive a Prius, I could definitely see people getting close to 40 mpg, maybe even more.

  • It actually gets 27 MPG, but if you go 70 MPH with the throttle wide open, you can actually get 30+ MPG.

You're probably thinking 22 MPG city.

  • your right hakem. i own one and i got 31 at 70 lol on I-15 going to LOS ANGELES from vegas

  • I think they should stop making automatic corvettes! I mean what is the fun in that?

  • So very true. I'm pricing out a C5 to get in the next couple years and I will get excited when I see one for a good price in the classifieds... until I see that stupid ass slushbox shifter.

  • Because they'll sell 2/3 as many, moron. It's all about the consumer. Rich housewives can't be bothered to shift gears manually while they're putting on makeup and chatting on the cell while behind the wheel..

  • Did I say 2/3 as many? I meant 1/3 as many. They sell more automatics than manuals...

  • um a 430 horsepower V8 convertible? You're right. No fun. Especially the 505 horsepower Z06 and the 640 horsepower ZR-1. You're definitely right. So boring.

  • It's sarcasm. I mean, how could you not find the Corvette fun?

  • awesome cars..

  • Kewlios

  • Later this year, for the 2009 Vehicle line

  • what about the ZR1? when is that coming out?

  • next year, but the first has all ready sold at auction for $1 million. Estimated MSRP price for the ZR1 is $100,000

  • Nice, real American muscle!

  • i Like the Corvette :)
