My step son from a prior marriage has been a crown ward for years and my other son now 28 and I am outraged since so many people that love him and are kind to him were left out. We don't like what we heard about how he has lived. He knows he has a lawyer but does not know the name or function or how to ask for help.
How can we talk to him? We love him and could give him a super life.
Well all I can say is thank God for the information age, because none of these abusive foster parents can simply move away and hide from what they've done like they did in the past. And when you're older, like me, and 6 foot 1 and 260 pounds, like me, you'll be able to track these people down and smash their fucking heads in with your bare hands. And believe me, no matter what they say, revenge is far better than counceling... far better than neverending anger.
I know what you are saying. I remember when I was 18 thinking of what I could do to one of them, and I was/am not even a violent guy. But over the years, I have realized that it is more powerful to do some form of advocacy than to get myself in trouble. It has been since 1988 that I have been out of care, and I am now past the anger and now just continue to call the system on their shots. It has brought some changes and will continue to over time. Thanks for posting. Were you in care?
So what kind of questions do you ask 3-4 year olds? My son is in foster care and hes really unhappy and I want his voice to be heard because he just wants to come home (there wasn't really a good reason to take him from me in the first place) I agree though, things need to be changed... Their voices should matter, even if they are 3 they are smart enough to know what they want especially when there parents are all they ever knew.
You bring up a good point here. Especially since there is nobody to really speak for the kids until they are old enough to reach out and get someone to do it for them. Please if you have any questions, call me at 613-220-1039 and I will do my best to answer them. I might be able to help you deal with the organization you are dealing with as well in some way.
I have spoken at a couple of Provincial Legislative Committee meetings on Bills about child welfare and plan to talk at the Federal Finance Committee this year as well about the government funds to social services and the lack of conditions placed on the use of those funds.
I personally think what needs to be done is a real look into what is right for the child. Sometimes they dont make a good decision. I have been going to court for my son since January 7th this year and I still continue to fight for him. They took my second son from the hospital when he was born (April). Sometimes they don't do whats best for the child because sometimes the child is happy where they are.

I can't stand it when I misspell a word here, "appreciate", see I really do know how to spell.
