  • I love this girl!!!

  • I was born in 91 and I love the classic cartoons such as little Audrey and little lulu

  • If this cartoon was made in the 60s the flower child man would have been even cooler.

  • Hmmm...some odd elements to this one, when viewed in the 21st century.

  • @Uncutcartoons247- Really? It looks so real and old. Wow. Well, it looks great anyway.

  • Looks Chuck jonesish.

  • Wait. This is a recreation? I'm so confused.

  • Is that the real original title card?

  • @Uncutcartoons247

    Nicely recreated.

  • i think the housemaid is neatly designed and not offensive at all. also she is depicted as a very responsible and reasonable/intelligent character. D:

  • @Mysticsloth She is a housemaid and she is black,it gives the impression that blacks can never be anything but maids or servants.

  • o my the 50s were so racist!!

  • قال الله عزوجل (وجعلنا من الماء كل شئ حي) الحمد لله على هذه النعمه :)

  • I love 50s TV xD

    FALLOUT FTW!!!

  • I'm surprised! The house maid in this cartoon doesn't look racially offenssive like in other toons of this era.

  • Little Audrey! That's so wild! Thanks for posting.

  • Mae Questel was fantastic!

  • AAHAHAHAH it's a RACIST cartoon!

    I LOVE it!

  • this is my name!!!

  • i can understand he has a land all to himself but god mr. rain maker put on some pants!!!

  • I love how Audrey does things she think would work but ends up regretting it.

  • i remember getting a DVD of Little Lulu or something like that (GOSH it was so long ago!) And it came with a bunch of Little Audrey Episodes. It was really Cute.

  • Dammit, Audrey, you've killed us all!

  • Nothing but praise for Harvey Toons and his wonderful characters!

  • That's Olive Oil's voice

  • The whole Idea of drinking that guys tears kinda turned my stomach.

  • In the comics her dress is red.

  • the 'opening' is different than what I remember as a kid

the politically incorrect things on here were edited off the version I saw as a child

the edited version, without the political incorrectness, is on DVD

  • this is different than the print they showed on tv when i was a kid

    even the opening

  • 0:50 I've got one of those! It works great!

  • I never knew Little Audrey Sings like Betty Boop.

  • 50pooh

  • That rain is not good :S Salt will remain on plants and Green World will die

  • @djkizaz

Well, maybe the Rainmaker's tears aren't salty? If he is the God of Rain and it rains when he cries it could be he cries freshwater tears.

  • Why does the Rainmaker look like John Candy?

  • People are bothered by the black servant but not the big fat naked man with a little girl beside him?

  • He who controls the water controls all life on the planet.

  • I find kind of weird, that the black servant woman is kind of depicted as a mentor figure for Audry. I don't know weather I should be disgusted at supposed depiction of black slavery or if I should applaud Famous Studios for being ever so slightly ahead of their time.

  • @TakumaMimura Mamies raised the kids back then so they had a close bound that was later discouraged as they got older.

  • @TakumaMimura I can see where you're coming from, as some of these older cartoons tend to be a bit racially insensitive and I was worried that this one might be, as well, but I noticed that none of her facial features were really exaggerated in a way that could be considered racist. Also, if you think about it, the fact that she's African American doesn't necessarily make her a servant woman; she could be a friend of Audrey's parents who happens to be helping out around the house.

  • "nevah, nevah, nevah rain again" listen to Mae Questel's New York accent...

  • Our fragile eco-system is actually dependent upon what Little Audrey might wish for in a fit of pique?

  • In this episode, she doesn't even wake up to find that it's a dream. Does that mean that it's "real"?

  • This cartoon was imbedded in my head every time it rained and it upset me. Love Little Audrey!

  • oh my god, little kid with a fire in the floor and a big fat mama slave!

  • Jeez, I figure by 1951 black maid portrayals were considered taboo. MGM and WB had stopped doing black caricatures by this point. I guess Paramount was slow in the times.

  • @InvaderPet Actually, Mammy on the MGM series lasted one year longer than Audrey's maid -- 1952's "Push Button Kitty" was the last Tom & Jerry cartoon Hanna-Barbera used her in (Paramount's 1958 "Chew Chew Baby" would suffer from a race-related ban, but it really wasn't due to the design or coloring and more for the implications of the story).

  • MAAAAN!!! I CAN SEE THE THE INSPIRATION FOR THE ANIME TRIPS!!!!! :D

  • best line..."beat it drips your all wet" lol

  • What is she saying at 3:36? I remember this cartoon when I was little and not understanding her then, either.

  • @rockhopper10r she said:gee,i meant no harm.

  • These were syndicated a few years ago... without any of the songs the cartoon characters sang. I don't know upon whose wisdom that decision rests, but it ruined all these wonderful stories, and the richness and depth of the animation. I am SO GRATEFUL someone left the April Showers song in tact. These were so well made they deserved to be preserved in tact. The shadows in the animation may be gone, but there's so much more to enjoy. Thank you a thousand time for preserving their integrity.

  • i watched this and lil lulu at my grandmas all the time before she passed away thx for bringing back some nice memories for me :)

  • Im 9 years old, and I know ALOT of 80's, 50's, 60's, 70's songs and shows! Especilliy the 90's kid shows! :D AND I LOVE THEM ALL!! I wish I could watch these on tv, and watch all the episodes. :(

  • lmao that flower crazy!

  • I think Mae Quester is doing the voice of Little Audrey. She was the voice of Olive Oyl and Betty Boop.

  • I think Mae Quester is doing the voice of Little Audrey.

  • same voice as olive oyl and betty boop!

  • Thats the voice of Olive Oyl.

  • I wish it would rain all the time as part of a thunderstorm! I love rain & thunderstorms!

  • One of my all time favorite cartoons ever and my favorite Little Audrey cartoon. Watched it as a young child in the 1960s and I still immediately think of the song and the cartoon when ever I hear the phrase April showers some 40+ years later. Thank you very much for sharing it.

  • in 1951, NTA replaced from Paramount Pictures. Beside it was 1322mt FIlms, When the cartoon start.

  • your all wet *ba dum tish*

  • Petunia was there mainly to provide adult supervision, and she did a good job of it in the cartoons she appeared in. But where were Audrey's parents?

  • Thanx for posting this. I remember seeing this on TV when I was quite a young child in the 1950s, and I had some rather clear memories of it, but I did not remember what character it was. Little Audrey. I remember the rainmaker squeezing the cloud quite clearly.

  • my comment didnt post

  • So what part was censored, the scene with the maid? There were other Little Audrey episodes with that maid that were untouched that I know of and its said that it was this Harveytoon that was censored.

  • Thanks for putting this up. I remember watching this one when I was very little (early 60s) and it had a big influence on me as a kid. Have never forgotten that scene with the camels or the man getting a drop of water on his tongue.

  • How many kids blame themselves for stupid things because they misunderstand the connection between the way we would like things to be and the way they really are? Wishful thinking on its own never made anything happen.

  • what is the difference between little Audrey - little Dot and little Lulu?

  • 0:49 - 1:23 was edited off the cartoon that I watched as a child in the early 80's, which makes you realise a gap in the plot line...

  • 5:55 is when it happens? also where does that intro come from???

  • Audrey wishes for no more raid and the whole world pays for it?

  • Thank you so much for uploading this classic

  • the little water droplet out of the tap is the voice of casper! (well i think he may be anyway....) ^_^

  • This is a unedited version of this episode, the edited version is the Harveytoon one.

  • @MrTalkingGames Too true. Harvey Entertainment owns half of the cartoons from Paramount's Famous Studios with the exception of Popeye, who's owned by A.A.P. and later by Turner Entertainment.

  • Interesting.. in this one her adventure wasn't a dream.

  • I love this little series. I remember it--only the one I remember has a gingerbread man.

Oh, and YIKES! Mr. Rain Maker, put on some pants. lol.

Anyways, love it. 5/5* thanks for the upload.

  • I don't think I've heard the expression it's raining pitchforks before. Has anyone else?

  • 5.55 little audrey's voice is transforms to betty boop's

  • ı mean 5:55

  • @martianmister Same voice actress.

  • @martianmister

    kinda sounds like it

  • @martianmister the same lady ewho did betty boop did olive oyl and little audrey. i think she did wendy good little witch too

  • @martianmister That's because Mae Questel voiced both characters.

  • @martianmister are they voiced by the same lady

  • @martianmister audrey is betty boop

  • @martianmister

It's Betty Boop's voice from the start.

  • @martianmister Not surprising, since Mae Questel was the voice for both characters.

  • OMG I REMEMBER THIS! :))

  • how old is this cartoons?

  • 1951, according to the opening titles.

  • Yes, Mae was "Audrey" as long as the series lasted (1948-'58), including her first "Noveltoon", "Santa's Surprise" (1947).

  • they got 'its' wrong at 1:28, poor form

  • Is that Mae Questel as Little Audrey?

  • Yes.

  • This cartoon was very fascinating/disturbing to me as a child in the early 60s

  • These are not the original titles.

  • SOOOOO RACIST!!!!!

  • Hmmmmm..... This reminds me a lot of a Hayao Miyazaki movie.

  • she sounds like olive oyl

  • lol

    "there's little audrey!"

  • I remember this episode was really popular in the late 70's/early 80's during the west coast drought. All the kids were mad that Audrey made that wish.

  • That's Little Audrey for you, and she's my girl.

  • Good gosh! I remember seing this on t.v. in the '60's!

  • You might have saw that with the Harvey Films logo as oppose to the original.

  • Heh heh, The Rainmaker looks like an extremely obese Will Ferrel to me.

I've never been a huge fan of all of Famous Studios/Harveytoons' characters; a lot of them were just too forcibly and phonily complex for my taste. But I've always liked Little Audrey; she's such a cutie pie.

  • "Well, I can't play outside. It's raining. Oh, I wish it would never rain again."

"That's a bad wish, child. We need the rain for flowers and for lots of things."

"I don't care! I wish it would never, never, never rain again!"

  • Did Lillian Randolph do the Mammy's voice?

  • hahahahaha

    her laughing was hilarious

  • "Little Audrey! What you trying to do? (What was the word) this house?"

  • Incinerate.

  • What does "incinerate" mean?

  • Literally it means "reduce to ashes"

  • Then it must be a hazard.

  • It was nice, how Little Audrey sang the song "April Showers", from the musical "Bombo".

  • No, no, no... the little raindrop doesn't flip her off. He's giving the "O-K" sign, silly person. I don't think a cartoon character ever flipped anyone off before Fritz the Cat in the sixties, though I wouldn't have put it past Bugs Bunny...

  • I just love "April Showers".

  • Rainy weather is no reason to use a campfire inside.

  • Good point in being grateful for rain.

  • This is one of many stories wherein someone wishes for no rain and gets undreamed-of consequences. One thing that made this stand out is Audrey's rendition of April Showers to the Rainmaker, which causes him to cry and thus ends the drought.I always think of this cartoon whenever I hear the song April Showers.

  • Bueno, ahora ya sabemos quien tiene la culpa del cambio climatico!!!

    Este cartoon es encantador!

  • a raindrop just flipped her off an shes laughing. that my friends, is a heart of gold.

  • Omg I remember this one! It's been over 30 years since I've seen this. Thanks!!

  • Yes, it was Mae Questel. She also did the voice for little Lulu and Olive Oyl in Popeye.

  • At 5:56 to 6:53 i had to admit Mae Questel did an beautiful job singing "Those April's Showers." that I almost cry.

  • does the person who makes little audrey's voice also voice betty boop?

  • a bit disgusting, nonetheless.. I can taste the salt in my mouth.

  • Back when I was a wee lad, you got three stations on TV if you were lucky - and none of our local ones showed many (if any) Harvey cartoons. (Harvey comic books were another matter - they were everywhere.) So I didn't see this until I was at university, when a local Louisville station started carrying them.

Note for younger viewers: Audrey's nanny is Petunia, and she's based on award-winning actress Hattie McDaniel.

    Jay

  • luv dis.. nice video

  • FANTASTIC!!! The bit with the violin cracked me up!

  • If anybody out there has the one with the flying saucers, bring it! From what I remember, Audrey has to fight aliens, and they're armed with this death ray that wipes out everything.

  • Pitchforks?

    The fuck?

    -Henry

  • It's an old saying. My mom used to say it all the time, when it would rain really hard.

  • I'll bet the man in the straw hat is a caricature of some Famous Studios employee. Who might it be - Dave Tendlar? I. Sparber?

  • Izzy Sparber.

  • my name is audrey

    @@@

  • Audrey wishes for the world without rain.

  • i think kids today should watch these cartoons, thats nly my opinion tho, neways i still enjoy watchin them thanks for postin this! xxx

  • i'm a teen and i watch these (all of my friends think i've gone insane)

  • Hey, this cartoon made me cry!

  • Hopefully Ted Turner and his Hanoi Jane, won't snap this one up to lock away from the children.

  • you may go to hell if you watch this

  • When Audrey starts slicing onions, you sorta get a hankering for a Wendys' double deluxe with a Frostie?

  • Where's the Beef?

  • No they wont.

  • This cartoon was not made by NTA for TV distribution since they usually owned the pre-50 Paramount Flesicher/Famous library. Harvey Films owned the post-50 Paramount Famous cartoons for TV distribution.

This was the cartoon that do not plastered over it, but it does have the Paramount titles, not the Harvey Films print since they got plastered over the Paramount logo and the Harvey Films copyright on the bottom.

  • I'm wondering where this print came from. I thought all Audrey films floating around in circulation were Harvey prints. I've never seen original Paramount titles before.

  • I cannot find Little Audrey - Song of birds! Please can somebody help me!!!!!!!!

  • It's so good to see a Famous Studios toon that escaped the destruction of UM&M, NTA and Harvey of its original titles. Today, Paramount takes pride in such garbage as SpongeBobSquarePants and prefers to deny the quality animated shorts of their history. They should be ashamed of themselves, and we should be vigilant about our kids "learning" from the commercial slime foisted on them today. It speaks volumes about the owner of CBS and Paramount, none of it good.

  • ill admit the quality of animation is better with older cartoons. but spongebob is liek awesome. pick on something stupid. theres alot to choose from

  • Notice Audrey's spinning star spins counter-clock-wise unlinke Popeye's? :) I still yet to see little LuLu's spinning star.

  • I've seen Lulu's a few times---there's an old video with about nine of her films on that has a real mixed bag of UM&M and Paramount prints.

  • What is the little audrey video when she almost kills that bird? please someone tell me hah

  • Song of the Birds.

  • hey did u get that same sadistic pleasure from watching it?

  • Why DOES THE RAINMAN LOOK LIKE A FAT ASS!FAT ASSSSSSSS.fat asssssss

  • Why at 4 seconds does she look RETARTED?

  • They just dont make cartoons like they use too. Even at 22 I enjoy watching classic cartoons. :)

  • im 21 and suddenly feeling ok about my need to see these cartoons. im not alone!!

  • Your so not alone! :)

  • This was my very favorite cartoon when I was a little girl. Thank you!

  • Little Audrey sounds like Betty Boop when she sings.

  • That's because Little Audrey and Betty Boop had the same voice actress; Mae Questel.

  • Great cartoon ! Also an advice for the global warming in our days.

  • MY NAME IS AUDREY!

    ~Audrey Josephson-Day~

  • I've been looking for a Little Audrey cartoon with the spinning star opening and here it is. Thanks!

  • You have made my day. I have been looking everywhere for the complete uncut version of this particular Little Audrey cartoon for years. THANK YOU so much for posting!!!

  • I've never seen the Audrey version of the Paramount star opening. It's simply amazing to be able to see it! Thank you both for this, and your wonderful blog articles.
