nice video! When I record in AVCHD 1080 made (both 9M and 17M) I get horizontal wavy lines when I move the camera left-right. Any suggestions??

One flaw. Can't edit/chop a video on the camera or before you upload it to a computer. Am I just missing something? Take a 5 min video can make it 20 seconds, right?

Does the smile detector mode on this camera work really well? 'Cause I had this different camera and the smile detector on it didn't work that well.

@ub135 I haven't used it in "real" use, but I've played with it on myself and it seems to work great. It even worked pointing it at my TV... There's various settings for it for adult/kid priority and sensitivity, I think it's a pretty cool working feature. The self portrait mode which is kind of similar works great also, btw.

I just got mine... but theres this blue thing that comes up about an inch wide on the right side of the screen. I have no idea what it is. If I take a picture while its there the blue part comes out tinted red in the picture? Did this happen to anyone? What is it? It really does look like a setting to me, but I dont know what or why... And it just comes and goes, + its composed of A LOT of lines... almost like a very small grid... help?

I can't decide whether to buy hx5v or tx7 :) Tx7 has nicer & bigger screen but i really love the zoom on hx5v and supposedly it has a better video stabilization! They are both compact in my opinion and hx5v is ticker. Give me some idea please!

Liked review, but need to plan out reviews better. SO MUCH repetition about camera. 3-4 minutes of repeated material. Good job anyway. Considering cameras between TX7, HX5V, and Panasonic's ZS7. This is first video watched and like TX7. The only aspect I question would be the touch screen and lack of "normal" controls - constantly having to be looking at the screen instead of intuitively manipulating a few buttons/switches without thinking much about them.

Great review. You touched on it a bit, but I would like to know more about the best way to transfer the video onto my PC. I am using an SD card and it has all my photos in view, but not my video. I assume the videos are in the "stream" folder, but again they will not play on my PC. I know nothing about converting the file over either. Can you help?

t0xiceyes, the SD3500 IS from Canon is only 720progressive at 30fps, identical to the Sony TX7. In fact, the Sony also offers 1440 x 1080p at 30fps, superior to the Canon's 1280 x 720p at 30fps. In addition, the Sony offers 1080i at 60fps, which can be far better than 720p at half the sampling rate in many situations.

Can I ask your opionion please, I have just taken back the Panasonic Tz7 camera which took amazing videos but photos were very poor in low light.

I know this camera has full HD but do you think the quality will be better than Panasonic TZ7 video, and how is the audio quality.

When your use video does it autofocus constantly on subject, one thing I liked about the Panasonic TZ7 but as I said very very poor photos in low light made me sell.

I saw your sample pics on Flickr. Is it possible to put them up with full size display? The photo quality is the last thing holding me back from buying this camera. Other older models seemed to have ok looking photos at smaller sizes but when viewed at larger sizes they don't look that great. Your samples look excellent at the smaller size, this seems like the best pocket camera around.

FYI, You can upload AVCHD directly to youtube. I have a Sony HDR-SR12 (AVCHD camcorder). I use Sony Vegas to edit (PC), it works great.

AVCHD is a format thats a pain in the ass to edit on MAC, on PC im not sure what the deal is, but I have a feeling it sucks also. A good format is one that records in a mode that can easily be uploaded and played, edited, and in the case of AVCHD, you cant even play it on mac without watching it in Toast.. its a format that most programs dont understand.
