When a player suggests its "not working out here", he's not referring to his linemates, he's talking about the team. I suppose you can admire Kessel somewhat for his honesty, but from a work ethic and maturity perspective, that's GOTTA be concerning if you're a Leaf fan. Kessel's well-known for being lax on conditioning and avoiding the weight-room. He plays when he wants to and that's not a good characteristic in pro sports.

I watched the game where Kessel backchecked and stole the puck off an opponent and it was hyped up. What Kessel does once or twice a week, guys like Zetterberg, Datsyuk and St. Louis do several times a game. Kessel plays two-way infrequently - he's still a one-dimensional player with a questionable attitude.

But you can't deny that he has shown nothing but hunger for pts so far and he's been backchecking like crazy. and rmb, Kessel is still young, so his two way plays will get a lot better. I can think of veterans pt leaders who can't play a defensive game for shit. and on issue of maturity, its still too soon but there are many players who have changed their maturity after one season.

I am pretty good at reading body language - IMO Phil was saying that it was not working out in Toronto - implying that he might need a trade.
