Private schools give the illusion of doing a better job, because they test students prior to registration.
Then, they only accept those with high IQs.
They do not accept students with limited English, learning disabilities and behavior problems.
Paris Hilton attended 4 different private high schools. Finally, after she was expelled from her 4th school for violating the school rules, she ended up getting her GED.
@MsJanetWood It is the Teacher's Union's fault that there is no choice in education. The Teachers support the Union. There are plenty of private schools that solve these problems you identified, but for some reason the public schools continually fail. Facts are it is the progressive welfare state that created this mess, they destroyed families, created dependency, and the education system is the foundation of progressive politics and policies. Progressives own education and welfare.
@MsJanetWood But it IS the teacher's fault that in my public high school, EACH and EVERY HW assign. in ALL my math classes for ALL the students were "graded" and returned to all students--EVERY day, within 5 MINUTES. Just a check mark on each assignment. Even for make-up work for excused--and unexcused absences. Just an "on-the spot" check mark. The teachers even joked about it with the students. Every year. That's just the "tip of the iceberg". Parents complained; no action was taken.
@MsJanetWood It's people like you who don't even know the half of it. A teacher spends the most time with these students. Not the parents, the teachers. But I agree that the teachers aren't the only ones to blame. It's the system that's put in place that forces the parents to work 3-4 jobs, and still not be able to provide for their children and help them succeed. It's the government who enacts policies that make it so that the only thing these children can do is reproduce, drugs, and fail.
oh look at that, almost all the kids in these "dropout factories" are black or hispanic. i'll try to contain my absolute shock.

Schools are a reflection of their communities!
Is it the teachers' fault when the students refused to study or do their homework?
Is it the teachers' fault when the students are high on drugs?
Is it the teachers' fault when the students are consistently late or absent?
Is it the teachers' fault that the teenagers are getting pregnant?
Is it the teachers' fault that the students are constantly moving around from school to school? 5 different schools in one year!
Is it the teachers fault
