  • I got my own RnR hall of fame and this is in it!! Rock on man

  • drafted 1970 not an activist or any of rhat don"t need the attention. dig the music

  • ZAJ*BISTA NUTA !!!!!!!!!!

  • just signed

  • this song is perfect for a long ass road trip

  • what a brilliant album, brilliant musicians and vocals and amazing recording, one of my top ten albums!

  • this pumping bass is even better than a warm pussy....great Grand Funk

  • All this crap about the r-n-r hof...I've been there...it sucks it's a joke...it's got nothing to do with real rock-n-roll. The true greats are ignored in favor of what a bunch of douche bags think is cool.

  • Mel and his buffalo fart bass. Love it!!!!!!

  • all the people who vote are in new york city. they are the ones to blame

  • @52woodsman ~ uh yeah, new yorkers put johnny cash in a r & r hall of fame.

mozart died in an unmarked paupers grave. van gogh and picasso were considered crazy and couldn't make a living with their art. etc. etc. it means nothing.

  • nothing rests so easy , as remenising to that much power in feelings, vibes from that music, is still calming a national treasure,, peace,,,,,, uummm,,, hall of fame,,, for sure,,,,..

  • Legendary!

  • one of my favorite bands of all time and some piece of shit museum doesn't honor them ! does anybody really give a shit ! I sure as hell don't and I still play their music, thats what it's all about

  • The R&R hall of fame is starting to become insignificant to me...it's getting to the point where I'd rather my favorite bands NOT be in it. We know who the greatest bands are...being in such a biased thing as the R&R hall of fame doesn't mean anything.

  • UNCLE JAM WANTS YOU

  • The band just knew how to push all the right buttons and came up with some of the best hard rock ever made!

  • I was at a record store called HMV and they did not have a single GFR cd for sale?

I think Capitol Records should double up on their albums and reissue them like they did for some of the Beach Boy's discography. I would jump at the chance to buy some of these albums to listen to in my car!

  • On every GFR song on youtube someone says "THEY're not in the rock and roll hall of fame but madonna is..WTF IS THAT?!" - who cares i couldn't name anyone in the rock and roll hall of fame anyways. At least until now that I've been unwillingly informed madonna is in it.

  • @MoneyMyBeezHoney thanks! you're on the money;couldn't have said it better myself!hurray for the believers!

  • Mel's bass riffs starting at the 3:22 mark toward the end of this song, and Billy Cox's bass playing on Hendrix' "Message to Love" are simply the best bass riffs I have personally ever heard! Such brilliant melody from bass players!

  • The bass lines of Mel Schcher are very

    amazing, Funks forever!!!!!

  • I like the bass note that occurs af four mins fifteen seconds into the song, 5 secs after 4:10

    Sounds like, BBOOOOONNNNGGGG

  • GFR haben vor 31 Jahren mein Leben maßgeblich in Richtung Musik verändert.Ich bin den Jungs bis zu meinem letzten Atemzug dankbar!

  • oh and i signed the petition :P

  • my dad´s favorite band ... today it would be his birthday

  • I bought this album at age 16--- very powerful!

  • Superlativo e extraordinário Funk......

  • They take your life but they don't tell you why!

Anyway, be yourself and do your best, life is short and beautifull and ofcourse I also love fairy tales.

  • I wanna live there....that country road.

By-the-way...the story (in the MDM&T liner notes) about some chick giving birth is the stuff fairy tales are made of... but, I do love fairy tales.

  • grand funk is god

  • 57 and know i'm biased about my time, so I'll say music from 60's and 70's is Still the only music. Thanks garazon for the Funk. Britney and rap, uh, no thanks.

  • i totally agree with you!! i was only about 6 when this was released, but i thank God for my older brother and sister who are responsible for turning me on to this. ;)

  • @worknmal10 seems to me you're biased about your music too. post something that makes some sense.\Squawnee: p.s You're 57? and you have what to add ?Jesus. i call,"bullshit! that's the stupidest thing i ever read.

  • @squawnee1

Absolutely biased about my music. Today's 'acts' , for me, don't compare to so many greats of GFR's time. Ever hear of Hendrix, Beatles, Stones, Clapton, great Southern Rock bands Allman Brothers, Skynerd. Give 'em a listen. Today's pop music sucks. Thats my 'bullshit'.

  • signed my name--damn right!!!!

  • Who cares if they're in the R&R hall of fame? GFR sold millions of records and to this day have millions of fans. So some suits don't think they're worthy? What a joke. Corporate acceptance is the most UNrock and roll think I can think of anyway. I don't listen to them. I listen to the music.

  • @plangentmusic A hall of fame for pop music is kind of a silly idea to me anyway. I totally agree with ya.

  • @plangentmusic Right on!!!

  • grand funk are from michigan, and were influenced by great black musicians.

  • Yeah they had soul some rock and roll soul and Mark could really blow

  • not to make it a race thing but to let you know in case you didn't know in my hood in the 70's a lot of black dudes dug GFR

  • I think that is just awesome!

  • i was a child when all this people heard this song for first time

  • tengo 55 anos escuchando esto y estoy casi seguro que ninguno de los niños en la red lo disfrutan mejor que yo blood dragon

  • ......and we're still "Goin' down that country road."

Whether or not Farner wrote this song for the times we were living in, any country, who can't admit it's mistakes, is bound to make the same ones over and over.

    So prophetic.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • You know, The rock 'n roll hall of fame thing would be cool- but I dont need them to be there to think they're cool- THEY ARE COOL whether they get inducted or not. everybody know's there are artists inducted that we would NEVER have inducted, given our voice. GFR was always sweet- still are...great band..

  • Just lately getting back into GFR, thanks to youtube! Liked them back in the early 70s, lost track of them, but now realize how fantastic they were/are. Loved this song, now and then.

As far as the RnR Hall... well, it seems sort of a sham, but if it were real, then GFR surely belongs there - right among the most highly acclaimed!

  • wow

  • written and sung by Mark Farner

  • It is not a Hall Of Fame without GFRxR.

This is an injustice that must be corrected.

Everyone support our effort & sign the online petition.

  • LINK!

  • This video's description has link. Thanks Bro.

  • Okay, thanks and no problem. :3 gfr FOREVER,.

  • for me the best rock band ever.I even went to their hometown flint.

  • Nobody ever sang as good as Mark Farner, Nobody!!

  • I know that the so-called hall of fame is important to some, but I don't find it that big a deal. Anyway, this is one of early GFR's most effective, atmospheric tunes. I really have only a few hard rock bands that I can really tolerate, and GFR are perhaps my favourite.

  • Maravillosa canción con las voces a tope y los trios power de miedo; la banda de rock por antonomasia.

  • Rock n Roll hall of fame? Grand Funk has the right to be at the top of the rock n roll hal of fame! They are the best!!! Just listen to this song and you will agree!!!

  • this is america...your vote dont count

thats why they are not in the hall of fame

that is there hall of fame they are in mine

by the way...i count....so start counting yourself in your world..thats all that counts...

  • i love grand funk railroad, because these guys are just so real, they know whats up. they're music is incredible. and the lyrics are genius.

  • Let me see,,,,,,,,, this band is NOT in the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame, yet the Lovin' Spoonful and Mama's and Papa's are? Now that's screwed-up! Does anyone else agreed?

  • Yes Indeed I do!!! Madonna too is in there, yuk!!

  • I agree with you all.And that soulless lame ass Blonde is in there too,but not Funk?!?! WTF is going on??

  • Great bands lik this one, Rush, and Kiss arent in, but fucking Madonna is? What a Joke!

  • I gotta tell you--as good as this was on the originally-released version, it sounds EVEN better on the recently-released un-edited version of "Survival". The keyboard interlude with extra lyrics that was previously thrown out when the album was released in '71 are AWESOME, and helped me view the song in a whole new light.

I've always liked the last two minutes of the song, though. The bass riffs are some of Mel's best and most melodic, and the overdubbing of Mark's guitar solo was "spot-on"!

  • Every song on the Survival album is great!!!

    GFR Forever!!!!!

  • society does cause to many fights

  • this sis a good song to bad nobody knows about it

  • Mel's bass was and still is sending out a morse code. An SOS, whatever. This government seems to be keeping us in danger for quite some time now. Vietnam is now Iraq and this song is just as relevent now as it was then. God I'm glad I'm on the back nine!!

    Keep Grandfunkengroovin people....5 stars again!!

  • Great track I like it , sounds good ( : x
