  • For powerlifters there is nothing wrong with training like this but for bodybuilders especially competitive ones there are major problems training like this. This training doesn't address weaknesses in certain areas whereas in the gym you can target speciffic muscles that are lagging behind

  • very strong indeed! however i prefer to do exercises that isolate muscle groups so I can sculpt my body as well increase strength. This guys focus is more on strength and well being. His training method is more susceptable to injury.

  • actually, if someone can assess how they feel on a day to day basis (accurately) then you could train until you feel "done for the day" and not get hurt as well as manage to make significant gains. I would say it depends on your goals/schedule/and level (perhaps even financial situation) how you decide to train.

  • I like your way of thinking, The guys I train with are exactly like this and have been for years, the only thing we had to this type of training is intense cardio, we are all under 200lbs (by choice) and we do this type of training. We talk the same way you do, and are always on each other. We have been training this way for the last ten years and compete at various strongmen contests. some guys are 120lbs heavier than us and we out lift their asses.

If you don't like it its probably cause your too comfortable sitting doing bicep curls and its too hard core for you. If you want to look good with your top off stick to your one body part isolation stuff. This is real training!

  • the question about leg training with this type of exercise... first you take a stone, deadlift it up to your shoulder or higher and bang out reps with a squat motion, switch sides of your shoulder each set.

  • You should sprint along a football fields length and then lift, no good being strong but with no stamina or speed. Just lifting will reduce your cardio-vascular strength. I've found that body weight training is good because as you build up you are pushing you heart and lungs as well as the weight you are lifting.

  • This is creative and will give some progress. But regular weights are alot easier to keep balanced and steady. Regular weights offer more isolation. Its better to split up training like biceps on monday, etc, because you need to give your muscles tiem to recover.

    Training like this will also give you uneven symmetry cause that kettlebell may be just enough for your shoulders to lift, but hardly enough for your legs.
