Actually, Snobootz provide better grip on ice than chains in acceleration tests conducted at Michigan Tech University. The boot is designed with metal claws that protrude inward and engage directly with the tire tread, preventing the tire from spinning inside the boot in most conditions. Snobootz are designed to provide traction comparable to chains with much easier installation. They also ride more smoothly and won't damage your tires, wheels, or vehicle.

I wonder how fast you can drive with it ? I guess under correction that the acceleration will limit it under 30.
Another problem is that you have to be outside of your car no matter how simple it is to put.

if the outer skin isn't tight on the tyre, the tyre will spin inside the outer skin.
nice product for mild conditions, but nothing like the grip from a studded tyre. cant see it being as good as proper chains.
