Very sweet man, one of my favorites, especially when her eyes get Grey and cloudy since that sad affair. Do you know of any tabliture for this song for the notationaly challenged.
Thanks so much! I came up with this arrangement in 1982... and wrote it out using notes. If I played it today like I wrote it out, it would sound pretty bad. ... I plan on re-recording it pretty much this way, but with fewer clams, and maybe a little more expression! Thanks for your comments!!!
I'm not a jazz player but I can play standards that are not overly difficult, That's why I like your rendition, sweet and to the point while maintaining a certain sophistication. I posted a blues vid entitled garage band blues on my page Id love to hear a critique if you get a chance and another vid called bebop or garage jazz i think i forgot the title but its a blues player attempt to sound jazzy.
I was a blues and r & b player for many years, and still am, but one day, I said I am going to try to make the transition into jazz and started altering my playing approach so I could sound jazzier. I actually started doing the jazz arrangements some 25 yrs ago, because that is all I thought I could do. Now I play more jazz related things, however, I cannot keep up with the really hard be-bop guys...
I tend to play with the jazzier R&B guys because they are more interested in 'groove' rather than who can play the most obscure changes. I am into this for fun, growth and enjoyment. So what you are hearing is a blues player playing jazz standards with his own arrangement...
Thank you so much for your comment and question. I am playing an Eastman AR804CE - An Oval Hole Cutaway with floating neck and floating pickup. I am still working on the recording tone...Glad you liked it!
hey man great playin, nice guitar. i have an 800ce that looks just like yours, im trying to figure out the difference between the 804 and 800, i guess the suspended neck. anyway i noticed yours sounds much more accoustic amped up than mine, cheers
does the 800 have an oval hole? the full model number for my guitar is AR 804 CE S or R, I can't remember the last without looking at the receipt. Mine is a 16" bout. I haven't seen another one just like it. If you have a picture please send it!! Sorry for the 11 month delay in my reply!
I hear you. The confusing part for me is the theory. I like the way Joe Pass breaks it down to dominants minor's seventh's etc. he's said he never concerned himself with all chord double speak, just what family it belonged too. Larry Coryell had a great little series that was posted on youtube I think its still their. Have you ever seen Tommy Emanuel from Australia. Got to get me a Maton guitar.
Very nice job. I have marked it as favorite along with Nuages which has a very vintage sound to it. What kind of guitar is it that you are using on this video?
Man...are you a master of that box..or what. She just sings to ya...nuthin' like being in love...its even sunny when you're blue. See ya @ Tew's...tomorrow. Forkner says hey.. Dave
Very nice Unc, my Uncle was a chord connoisseur like you, WOW!!
