People are being so ridiculous about this do they honestly believe BP did all this on purpose? no be silly they're in ruin after all that has happened and the last thing they would want is another oil spill.
They DID use a different version of this commercial for Sohio and Boron--I'm sure of it! I remember it so well from the early '70s, only as being for Sohio (I grew up in Ohio). Of course, it did not have the slogan "You bet your BP it is" at the end either, and the scene at the end was filmed at a Sohio station. We managed to keep it Sohio until about the mid-'80s...then it all went BP, and I felt I had lost a big chunk of my childhood!
OK, I'm being pedantic, but this is a pet peeve of mine. The kid in the red Camaro was stopped halfway into the crosswalk. The girl in the Mustang also, needlessly, placed her car's front wheels into the crosswalk. The only time this is excusable is when making a right on red. If you are stopped at a light and are going straight, making a left, or making a right on a "No Turn On Red," please stop BEHIND the stop line, people!
I vaguely remember another commercial warning against "jack rabbit starts". I wonder if they used a different version of this commercial for Sohio and Boron.

That guy looks and sounds like Roy Poole, the guy who played as the uptight Mr. McHabe in "Up the Down Staircase."

DRILL slowly. It'll save you a whole lot of oil by preventing unnecessary leaks.

@TruWatcher
We had Boron here in Pennsylvania although I remember Sohio too since we are close to the Ohio border.

@TruWatcher I think it happened in the 90's where I lived, I recall SOHIO going up to the early 90's at least.

I know it was taped in the 70s, but it hits home with the ridiculous gas prices today.

"You bet your BP": Great 70s-era pun, playing off Laugh-In's "You bet your bippy."
This one was obviously filmed in the shadow of the early 70s oil embargo.
