  • Thanks for putting this up, I really loved it!. I was a Huge Prisoner Cell Block H fan from Birmingham in the UK where Central Tv used to air it last thing at night. And even though we all had school the next day me and my friends would never miss an episode and talk about it the next day. Doreen was always my favorite character and she is still adorable!

  • Have you noticed how peoples voices never change? They get older and look different, sometimes very different but the voice is always exactly the same.

  • is it my imagination or does judith mcgrath (coleen Powell) look as if she hasnt eaten in a year?

  • The guy also just called Erica a "bad governer"; the ignorant idiot clearly knows nothing about the show, and is opening his mouth slandering half of our dealy loved characters from the best show in the world. Even the acctress who played Erica corrected him when he called her a lousy governer.

  • This is a good video, but it annoys me when people who make vidoes like this give innaccurate information. Calling Bea Smith "the bitch", Karen Travis "dispicable" and whatever it was he said about Lynne Warner. It is in insult to PCBH not to do proper research. Also, why, when making vidoes like this, do they always only show the first episode; the first episode is hugely over-rated; the show got better and better with every episdode. Idiots. They just called Lynne Karen. Long Live PCBH. :-)

  • I agree totally, they correctly said Peta Toppano played "Karen" but then they go on to say Kerry Armstrong played "Karen"!?!

  • Love this programme!

  • 04:32 Kerry Armstrong didn't play "despicable Karen" she played Lynn Warner who was wrongly convicted.

  • Critical of prejudice? You need to watch it again, considering there were no black characters in the show until the final series i would say that was bigotry wouldn't you. Also any gay characters were portrayed as big heavyweight bullying people,is that not a stereotype? Or have you missed that also.

  • Why do fags always follow shows like this. They didn't watch when it was 1st broadcast but all of a sudden jump on the bandwagon and spoil it for straight people like me who watched it 1st time around.Go away and stop making good shows out to be camp and gay and only for you and let the real fans enjoy.

  • @paulallan1000 Do some research and I think you'll find that "fags" (as you so eloquently put it) were instrumental in creating this series and forming its original fan base (particularly the lesbian community). Somewhat ironic that you call yourself a "real fan" of a series which is critical of prejudice and bigotry. Watch it again - you might learn something.

  • Patsy King (Erica Davidson) is looking amazing considering how old she was when the show began!

  • Althought Nobody will admit it! Prisoner Cell Block H Flaunted Australia's former WHITE ONLY immigration Policy! Unlike other Western Nations The Show promoted Australia's All White Prisoner population! The show was supposted to Promote Tourism to Australia. Most people under 30 would not Understand it. But thats what the show was about!

  • There were actually a couple of Aboriginal characters introduced in the later years of the series. One was an inmate and the other was a social / welfare worker so it wasn't strictly a 'White Only" series.

  • @davidanddavidinbali If the Australian series was made today you would probably see a greater myriad of different races and ethnic groups intergrated into Australia's Prisoner and Public works agencys. Yes there was an Aboriginal character and a few white ethnic prisoners in the series. However for the most part compared to Britain and United States Australias' prison and social Welfare agencies were almost entirely White 33 years ago. Australia is a different place now!

  • @davidanddavidinbali Right in the Begining. The Prostitute with Richard Moir (M'Wa) had a Jamacian John. I don't remember the exact episode! It was one of the first 10 ep! You will have to search!

  • @MsPerogi R u 4 REAL!

  • @jge1967 You bet ya I'm for real. If the show had non-white actors (prisoners) the show never would have been accepted by an international English speaking audience! You can speak to the former actors many of whom remember the old Australiawithout Racial Violence!

  • @MsPerogi Many of the original actors will privately agree the Former mostely White cast policy did make the Show Popular in the States and Britain!

  • @jge1967 My post was meant' for episode 227 were Lizzy says Niggar in the Wood Pile. I don't know if the moderator bounced it to this tread or I placed it in this tread by Accident!

  • @jge1967 It depends on how you interpret the show. I watched Prisoner during its original 1979-81 debut on American Network PIX. If you watched the show anybody from the States or Britain would have understood that it is possible to have Murder crime and Violence in n all White society just like in a non-White one also!

  • @MsPerogi Yeah, whatever dickhead! Build a fucking bridge and get over it, you ulta-sensitive twat!!

  • @Kaffyboy It must bother you more than me if you that sensitive about it!

  • @MsPerogi You're a simplistic moron, now piss off!!!

  • @Kaffyboy I Can't help it if one of the script writers was somebody named IAN SMITH! Unless your an idiot which it sees like you are! Well then Blahahah.

  • I watched 5 episodes of Prisoner yesterday! Might watch another 5 today. So glad it's on DVD. Been watching it since I was a kid. It's so addictive, and the best show to watch when you're home sick. Just lay on the couch and watch Prisoner!

  • Mrs Davidson has aged quite well if I may so myself!

  • I want to hang out with all these ladies, what a fabulous bunch of women!

  • PLEASE LADIES! COME TO AMERICA!

  • Happy Birthday Fiona Spence.

  • "For those under 30 years of age, you haven't a clue what I'm talking about"...Don't underestimate us! Some of us still have taste!

  • facebook take a look

Prisoner Cell Block H New Fan Page 2011

  • they all seem like lovely woman!!

  • Always watched this with my family, all of my 3 little sisters, my little brother, mom & dad ^^

It was pretty popular in Sweden, it has a cult following :)

    As it should have

  • Just out of intrest why did meg and bea HATE each other so much? (Val and elspeth) I heard it was something about wages?

  • @chubbylilloser There are rumors about Val receiving mileage compensation when she lived over 20 miles from the studio. She moved closer but didn't tell the producers. Apparently, Elspeth 'snitched' on Val. Who knows if it's true. But it does appear that over the years, Val has been quite keen to keep stoking the fires of the differences she had with other actresses and Grundy. For someone who apparently hated Prisoner so much, she still associates herself with it. So who knows the truth?

  • Oh My God, How did they get Val Lehman and Elspeth Ballantyne together, let alone getting out of that limo, one after the other. This is CLASSIC!

  • CLass :D

  • I am up to episode 490,2nd time thru the series (I am #1 American fan, no?)

  • @nineballaddict oops 590 ha

  • You probably are the #1 American fan! It's good to see the show still so popular overseas. Good on you! Are you planning on watching the series a 3rd time?

  • @davidanddavidinbali Oh I am sure I will eventually. I was going to wait 10 years this timebut when I was laid up after knee surgery I pulled it out and found that I had forgotten enough of the story lines that it was not so redundant. "good on you".... I learned that from PCBH LOL

I am hoping to come to Australia some day.. unfortunately I don't think there are any more "prisoner" tours :*(

  • @davidanddavidinbali Old American fan as well. Thinking about the show since I havent seen it since I was a kid years ago. Surprised it was this popular. Actually thought it was British :). I miss this show, along with UXB. Us American insomniacs got treated to UXB, Cell block H, Benny Hill, and fat cat. Most well adjusted and well rested Americans have no clue when I mention these shows.

  • @nineballaddict nope, I am the #1 fan! I watched as a kid when my family was stationed in England and have watched the entire series three times here on YouTube!

  • @nineballaddict GOOD ON YA MATE

  • Please come to America! I LOVE this program! I watch it on YT daily I've already been through all 692 episodes and started back again, I'm again on episode 67.

  • Awesome. Cool grandmas now haha Its great too see them all together ^_^ Im watching this on DVD, im up to episode 80. Growing up, my mum and auntys would mention the show and i could see why it was/is so popular. I love it! Thanks for uploading this by the way :-)

  • Thanks! I remember the show being on when I was a kid and how everyone was saying it was "heavy drama"! Now I look at it and see that it was actually quite humorous at times. It's good to see the actresses still aknowledging it after all these years. I too am watching it on DVD and am currently up to episode #481. :)

  • I LOVE Val's dig about Foxtel at 09:16. Coz at the end of the day Greed rears its ugly head again. If you want to watch a programme over 30 years old your gonna have to pay for it, even if your a poor pensioner with no money. T.V production companies are certainly milking every penny they can out of this new market for T.V nostalgia. No wonder Val was equity rep on Prisoner. She wont be ripped off by anybody OR be the victim of greed. She's brilliant.
