id put in a different engine and trans if your using it as an everyday car if it was me id drive it on weekends and keep it geraged but im a realist that loves originality
I own a 68 GT 390 that i found on the side of a guys house in 1984. I paid 200 for it. It looks like it was made after may of 68. Do yourself a favor and pull the engine and C4 and do it right. I wish i could have seen the interior. What i have never seen before are those Fender badges. Why are they so high? Check your Vin with Kevin Marti and get an accurate report.
imagine that being your mum's car - mental! don't put any of that eleanor shite on it - just give it a polish and a tune up and luvvit!! lucky guy. :-)
if you don't get it to run like new, get an overheuling kit for the carb and buy new spark plugs and wires, rotor, points, condeser, and a new coil will do wonders, and will fire up every time. if it doesn't, than check the alternator and regulator(which i'dd replace anyway), i've got a 1966 fastback 6cyl 4-speed 3.20 rear end, and my brother has a '67 coupe check out my videos (he also has a 1970 and 1971 challenger)
hey man do you know the colour code for that orange or is that 1970 graber orange i cant tell ya get back if you can im tryin to find an orange for my 72
fastbacks are worth so much money now.. i want one, that car is probably worth $18,000, who panted it orange? definately not factory color, there were no orange mustangs until 1970
J code engines were pretty good 302's, I have one in a restored '68 cougar..10- 1 compression, rated @ 235 HP but that was with a stock single exhaust & manifold..easy to get over 300 @ the crank with bolt on mods..

Is it a real GT? I am just asking because the GT badge on the side is way too high. It should only be about an inch above the rocker molding.

Zososg 5 years ago
Probably not a real GT. The badge is correct but it's in the wrong place... so probably added later on.
MrFrankBullitt 5 years ago
This is common isn't it, I saw another '68 yesterday where someone had added a GT emblem...the car was automatic!
captainrock2002 4 years ago
THE GREATEST CAR EVER MADE 1968 FASTBACK... well... you want the GT. And p.s. its not "bran new" like what you said in the video
Zososg 5 years ago
Please, for the love of God, the world does not need yet another Shelby clone or Eleanor. Keep the great looking stock body lines.
