The R-4360-59B from Pratt and Whitney and the R-3350-DA1 from Curtis Wright used direct Gasoline Injection back in the 1950's. They produced 3800HP from 72 Litres displacement and 3700HP from 54 Litres dispalcement respectively with cruise fuel consumption figures that rival modern turbo, common rail diesels through a process kown as "lean of peak" operation fuel mixtures. Daimler Benz used direct gasoline injection with their DB605 37 Litre v12's along with Mercedes Cars in the 50's and 60's.

im concerned about the injectors fouling quickly up because of this new SIDI. the combustion chamber is one harsh place to be and im more comfortable leaving my injectors in the intake manifold, away from the harsh environment of the combustion chamber. and btw, big engines in big cars IS still the way to go. the 3.0 might have more Kw but it has less torque, which is exactly what you need to get a big car going

Yes, it has 190KW. What they neglect to mention is the piss weak torque of 290NM.

Say what you will, but 290NM in a 1750kg car isn't enough imo.

oh thought you ment that model of VE SV6. Not sure bout the new ones.......I would love to see a manual FG XR6 N/A vs Manual SV6 SIDI. Moslty because auto XR6s have a shitty 2:92 or 2:72 diff ratio but manual XR6s get the fabled 3:45 which means way better acceleration.

I was under the impression wheels got about 0-100 in about 9.2 with it.....then again its wheels....so I suppose 8 second mark is fine......even still tho......thats way slower then a BA XT let alone an FG....
