Get an amplifier with the most amount of watts for which you are willing to spend the big bucks/quids/loons. The more headroom the amp has, the cleaner it should be at high volume. One can keep the master volume low while turning up the other volume knob up. An 8x10 bass cabinet ought to move more air than similar configurations. Examples: Verellen Meatsmoke @ $2500 US; Reeves Custom 400 @ $3300 US; Reeves Custom 225 @ $2500 US; Fender Super Bassman Pro 300W @ $1800 US.
you get The Best Bass sound if you use Basses with P-J Pickups extreme Power You can Play Soul, Jazz, Blues, Funk but also (I Prefer that) Rock, Metal or Punk
I love all three basses. My main is a P bass with a Jazz pickup in the bridge. I can get the best of both worlds with it. My only complaint against the Stingray is that it gets drowned out by loud, heavily distorted guitars. I find it more suitable for funk and electric jazz. I know they have been used for rock and metal but the lack of low mids makes it harder to be heard.
@MrGarylemon I'm pretty sure on another video they mentioned it's a song by that very same guy playing the bass. Can't remember the name of the tune though
I liked the P-Bass because it seemed more versatile and able to handle just about any playing situation. I don't like distortion on Bass; because I feel distortion is a guitars gig and robs a bass of its tonal structure. The mm sounds are 2 dimensional for me. The Jazz is nice but cannot approach the depth of the P-bass. I suspected it would end as it always does; the mighty P-Bass is still the standard by which all other Basses are judged by. But its really a matter of musical preference.
@zenjim007 Oh; before I forget; what year is the P-Bass used here? I also want to thank you for this demo as I thought it was a good demonstration of Basses in different playing situations. Hopefully demos like this help aid players in their choice.
interesting video and a cool comparison, but I feel it would be much more informative if all three basses were playing the same bass line so people can truly distinguish the nuances and differences between each bass. they're all great instruments in their own right and deserve care when being compared.
On a side note, your amplification sounds amazing!
Respond to this video... Hi Mirdrin, Galeazzo Frudua here, I some way agree with you still I think this is fine for us out there to have a clear idea and appreciate the main differencies among th 3 models in every playing style.
@oswa0714006 Is it just me? Or am I the only one who likes the J the LEAST out of these three... I have a Ray. Have always loved/wanted a P just because. I respect a lot of the great J bass players and they get great tones out of it, but it's just not for me I guess.
I wanted to hear more of '63 precision i thought it sounded best for the few seconds i heard it.

Really great and informative video. I think Jazz bass sounded best for everything except slap, stingray was slightly better

Tough one. Music Man for finger style, Jazz bass for slap, and Precision for plectrum

@WhiteMexicanBassist I thought the P had the best slap tone.

Spent years trying to get rid of distortion at high volume, nothing beats the sound of a clean bass.

Music man takes the slap by a mile. For distortion, I can't decide between the MM or Jazz. P bass has a nice fat sound for fingerstyle.

@echo1434 American Standard (recognizable by the spaghetti-logo and the lack of opening for the trussrod at the headstock).
