  • i have far more respect for the believers in allah than the believers in christ. actually, I have far less disrespect in the believers of allah than the believers of christ. why is that?

christianity is the religion that largely stems from europe and america, where the enlightenment/the renassaince, and nearly all the great intellectual movements have happened in the last few centuries.

muslims in the middle east/africa are farmers.

who is more entitled to uneducated belief?

  • Who thought that giving mortgages to people with no $ would be a bad idea?

Well Bill Democrats sure didnt think it was a bad idea, It was the dems who controlled congress the last few yrs of Bush & the 1st couple of Obama & what ya know the economy has spiraled downward all that time & know the repubs have control of congress I bet it will start to get better but dont worry I have faith that Dems will gracefully take the credit for that

  • @1:15 Boy, talk about a clear vision. He totally called the election!

  • CALLER: "Hi. Well, my question is, the Lord spoke to me approximately three years ago, and if the Lord spoke to you, I was wondering if you'd become a believer."

MAHER: "No, I'd check into Bellevue, which is what you should do..."

  • wow ...alot of sugar in this guys tank!

  • lol wow, he pretty much called the election

  • he said " i pray everyday" lmao, little slip there.

  • Politicians don't like to talk about debt because everyone knows that the people who get themselves into debt are at fault, and there is no way to make people more responsible, aside from leaving them to their unfortunate fates.

  • By pray he means hope, shoulda hoped more.

  • Did I just hear Bill Maher say " I pray everyday" LOL

  • @mikek241 LOL yeah i had to rewind that a few times!

  • @mikek241 haha I thought the exact same thing

  • He never said that. He said Mccain wont be able to keep up b/c he will be portrayed as an old man.

  • Every great truth starts as blasphemy.....enough said

  • You must talking about Larry King.

  • Everyone that goes against what "the people" say and think is a looney, that is of course until they are proven right, like Galileo who said that the Earth moves around the sun or Chuck Yeager who broke the speed of sound, even Christ was thought to be a looney and look what happened to him.

  • he is looney and a poor miserable soul. hes very unhappy in his life. you can see it on his face

  • Bill is an ass, but he is a funny ass dude!

  • very very prophetic stuff said.... creeeepy

  • not really....any intelligent person could see this trend in like 05

  • Running through the airports like OJ

  • very prophetic content in this video

  • YOU WIN 14 GOLD MEDALS, OF COURSE!

    LOL

  • Wow that was a low blow.

  • he was never against believing in god, but he was always against religion being the medium in which people believe in god.

  • Bill Maher prays every day?

    To whom?

  • It's a turn of phrase. It means "I Hope", & doesn't have to be to anyone.

  • "I pray every day that this is not gonna..." *thump*

Yeah, it thumped and half the world, not just the US, is feeling it.

  • That's a great question from the Columbus caller...too bad Maher couldn't answer the question.

  • funny...he "prays" everyday

  • It's like he had a crystal ball, I wonder what else he's right about :)

  • smart guy LOve him ;)

  • Love'em or hate'em, the man knows his shit!

  • Bill Maher must be a prophet!

  • he is a very bright guy

  • Pretty ironic video under the current circumstances..

  • yeah, i thought the same thing.

  • This is crazy how relevant it is even at a year old.

  • This video was posted a year ago, but sounds more like 2 months ago. Ends right at the moment Bill is considering what would happen if the mortgage crisis worsens.

  • way to go Bill...you asked every question Jesus would ask...you are Jesus...enjoy the ride...

  • Bill Maher prays everyday?

  • God you're thick, it's a figure of speech.

  • haha yeah i caught that too... kinda funny he'd say that... I am an atheist and because I was raised christian I sometimes still say 'god dammit' maybe it is just a figure of speech ya know... still funny tho

  • Thank God someone finally made a movie about the real problem with the United States right now, Not our economy, not our involvment in multiple wars, not our lack of ethics, not our inability to supply enough domestic goods to supply ourselves but Religion. This guys just too damn good, because honestly, who wants to blame ourselves for being incompitent when we can blame the real culprit religion! Everyone know the world was created by scientists in a test tube and science explains everything!

  • That's precisely the problem you have in the US right now. A huge majority of the population makes decisions (about finance, starting wars, global warming) using belief, faith, or wishful thinking as a basis. The leadership seems to make decisions based on evidence and rational thought. That's a good place to start fixing things -- with the decision making process. Good solutions to your biggest problems will only come once people base their decision making on evidence and logic.

  • Finance? I don't remember the last time somebody based their stock options off of bible stories, but hey what do I know, I'm catholic after all.

  • @queenetbowie...

lol, your trying to be sarcastic yet you do not seem to relize that most of the "incompetence" is a direct result of non-ration "wishful" thinking and faithbound dogmas like religion...

  • @queenetbowie...

lol, your trying to be sarcastic yet you do not seem to relize that most of the "incompetence" is a direct result of non-rational "wishful" thinking (especially in the morgage crisis and taking on debt) and faithbound dogmas like religion... ~also mixed with greed.

  • where's the eerie twilight zone music when you need it?

  • Whoa, this whole thing is suddenly pretty salient.

  • bill.. you pray every day??

  • It's a fugure of speech.

  • no shit

  • Sorry. I thought you were being serious. There are a lot who would have been.

  • i know. no problem

  • Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton, Franklin - were deists. They believed in a God and they believed in some Christian theology. Adams once said his religion consists of the 10 Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount. Diesm was quite common among Enlightenment intellectuals at the time. We could use another Enlightenment all across the South and the Midwest.

  • All the fathers were protestant christians? I think many were. And many were not. Deist Christians; TJ and BF. Deist non-christians; Thom Paine. Unitarians; (once again) TJ, and John Addams. Washington attended churches but wasnt confirmed and didnt take communion. His letters appear to follow a deist pattern though. TJ did not believe in Christs divinity, the resurection, the trinity, or miracles. GW and BF were a freemason; hardly an orthodox version of christianity.

  • The revisionists rely on private papers now to paint pious men as charlatans. The Founders weren't angels nor were they blasphemers.

  • private papers like our fathers autobiographies and letters of correspondence - give up. Saying the father were Christian when they were so heavily critical of Christianity and organized religion in general is just stupid. Believing that the majority of our founding fathers were historically christian is like believing that noah's ark was historically factual. Both shows that the statement maker's aggressive will to ignorance. Read our founding fathers own words before you tell us what they are

  • I've read bks. on the founding of the U.S., as well as biographies on the participants. The Founders weren't angels by any measure. Some, heaven forfend, kept mistresses & enriched themselves thru piracy. Many revisionists gleefully take the private musings of Adams & Jefferson out-of-context. "Pillow talk" is the smoking gun for America's "atheistic" free-market haters. The fact that T.J., & others, buried their kin in churchyards, read the Scriptures in Greek & Hebrew must mean something.

  • are you kidding me? Thats all you have - TJ buried their kin in churchyards - therefor he was christian? You could possibly call TJ a christian revisionist - as he obviously does not believe in any of the supernatural nonsense of the bible, as he actually made the TJ version of it, in which he cut out all those parts. But this is akin to me saying that I'm Christian because i agree with certain teachings of Christ.

  • The idea that private musings between adams and jefferson is the only evidence of TJ's harsh criticism of christianity is preposterous, and only goes to show you aren't well red. The best way to describe Jefferson's religious views would be a skeptical unitarian topped with deism. If Jefferson were to run for president today, he would find his views of Christianity unacceptable to the electorate - And that is a sad thing.

  • "...America's "atheistic" free-market haters..." So by your way of thinking only god fearing monotheistic peoples who use the bible and not some other holy book (or that don't believe in holy books at all)support capitalism? What have you been smoking and how do I get my hands on some? Religion and economics are two SEPARATE fields. Ones belief in fairy stories does not have anything to do with his economic leanings.Behind your pulpit there must be one ignorant bastard.

  • Your jail house romances are none of

    my business; besides, I'm married.

  • I made a point about economics being a very separate issue then religion and you respond by talking about homosexuality? What in the hell would make you take such a leap unless you were gay? Does your wife know she's a beard or do you keep it a secret?

  • I'm unaccustomed to your jail-house jive.

  • You are unaccustomed to using your mind and it shows.

  • it got worse bill.....i see you didnt pray after all lol. fuck you bible-thumpers

  • bill isn't a bible thumper at all

  • Bill Maher praying? Hell (which he doesn't believe in) has frozen over (lol).

  • it's an expression, dummy

  • good one jabawakki lol

  • duh

  • 2 billion people believe that christ is alive

    earth is a mental asylum

  • @homeborn I agree we won't see any real intellectual progress for our species as a whole until people stop believing in fairy tales which were created 200 years ago for primitive societies to try and understand the world around them. we don't need to make up stories now

  • @homeborn Amen!

  • @homeborn AND 1.2 BILLION MUSLIMS. BIG STRUGGLE LADS!!!

  • @homeborn 2 billion more worship Allah. Between the two, one would have to assume that Earth is doomed.

  • Amazing......... That caller was able to plug his website......lol

    Listen at 1:45

  • penis.

  • "Running through the airports like OJ".. Uh Oh Bill.. what was that slip all about??

  • OJ was famous for his commercials in the 70's for running through airports for a company called Hertz. Maybe you're not ould enough to get the joke.

  • Yah I'm not old enough, the only OJ I know is the cold blooded murderer. thanks for the info !

  • hahaha. yeah apparently before the whole "murder" incident he played some sport called...f-foo-...football?

  • And if you took my comment literally . . .

But, thank you for showing me that the way to argue coherently is to call someone a dumb fuck. That certainly wins any argument doesn't it?

  • yes and rape insn't a sexual crime. its a violent crime where the criminal cums at the end

  • If you took "I pray everyday" literally, you're the perfect example of how religion destroys the brain's ability to reason. Pray to Santa Jesus maybe he will give you the power to argue coherently, dumb fuck.

  • I doubt Maher meant that literally. I think he meant pray = sincerely hope.

  • Its a figure of speech to emphasize how much he wants it to happen. Jesus taught never to judge anybody and be respectful of other peoples beliefs which you "christians" just love to do both of.

  • jesus christ, it's just a rhetoric that people use. what's he supposed to say "oh my science!" in place of "oh my god" too? besides he already did a bit where saying "I pray" is basically a subsitute for "I'm hoping." which it is. oh know I said jesus christ to show frustration I guess I can't be atheist if I wasn't already before now. ah well.

  • moreover, what he hell do u say during a blowjob?

'oh my biochemistry' somehow doest feel quite right...
