i have far more respect for the believers in allah than the believers in christ. actually, I have far less disrespect in the believers of allah than the believers of christ. why is that?
christianity is the religion that largely stems from europe and america, where the enlightenment/the renassaince, and nearly all the great intellectual movements have happened in the last few centuries.
Who thought that giving mortgages to people with no $ would be a bad idea?
Well Bill Democrats sure didnt think it was a bad idea, It was the dems who controlled congress the last few yrs of Bush & the 1st couple of Obama & what ya know the economy has spiraled downward all that time & know the repubs have control of congress I bet it will start to get better but dont worry I have faith that Dems will gracefully take the credit for that

He must be pretty dim if he thinks a philandering trial lawyer is a champion of the poor, but then he was blowing the horn for Obama; the most over-rated person since Judas Iscariot won the AD 31 best-disciple contest.
Everyone that goes against what "the people" say and think is a looney, that is of course until they are proven right, like Galileo who said that the Earth moves around the sun or Chuck Yeager who broke the speed of sound, even Christ was thought to be a looney and look what happened to him.
This video was posted a year ago, but sounds more like 2 months ago. Ends right at the moment Bill is considering what would happen if the mortgage crisis worsens.

Thank God someone finally made a movie about the real problem with the United States right now, Not our economy, not our involvment in multiple wars, not our lack of ethics, not our inability to supply enough domestic goods to supply ourselves but Religion. This guys just too damn good, because honestly, who wants to blame ourselves for being incompitent when we can blame the real culprit religion! Everyone know the world was created by scientists in a test tube and science explains everything!
That's precisely the problem you have in the US right now. A huge majority of the population makes decisions (about finance, starting wars, global warming) using belief, faith, or wishful thinking as a basis. The leadership seems to make decisions based on evidence and rational thought. That's a good place to start fixing things -- with the decision making process. Good solutions to your biggest problems will only come once people base their decision making on evidence and logic.
lol, your trying to be sarcastic yet you do not seem to relize that most of the "incompetence" is a direct result of non-ration "wishful" thinking and faithbound dogmas like religion...
lol, your trying to be sarcastic yet you do not seem to relize that most of the "incompetence" is a direct result of non-rational "wishful" thinking (especially in the morgage crisis and taking on debt) and faithbound dogmas like religion... ~also mixed with greed.
Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton, Franklin - were deists. They believed in a God and they believed in some Christian theology. Adams once said his religion consists of the 10 Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount. Diesm was quite common among Enlightenment intellectuals at the time. We could use another Enlightenment all across the South and the Midwest.

The Founding Fathers, who were buried beneath crucifixes; married in Protestant churches; and had their children baptized; are now, in a revisionists' world, deemed to have been atheists/deists.
All the fathers were protestant christians? I think many were. And many were not. Deist Christians; TJ and BF. Deist non-christians; Thom Paine. Unitarians; (once again) TJ, and John Addams. Washington attended churches but wasnt confirmed and didnt take communion. His letters appear to follow a deist pattern though. TJ did not believe in Christs divinity, the resurection, the trinity, or miracles. GW and BF were a freemason; hardly an orthodox version of christianity.
private papers like our fathers autobiographies and letters of correspondence - give up. Saying the father were Christian when they were so heavily critical of Christianity and organized religion in general is just stupid. Believing that the majority of our founding fathers were historically christian is like believing that noah's ark was historically factual. Both shows that the statement maker's aggressive will to ignorance. Read our founding fathers own words before you tell us what they are
I've read bks. on the founding of the U.S., as well as biographies on the participants. The Founders weren't angels by any measure. Some, heaven forfend, kept mistresses & enriched themselves thru piracy. Many revisionists gleefully take the private musings of Adams & Jefferson out-of-context. "Pillow talk" is the smoking gun for America's "atheistic" free-market haters. The fact that T.J., & others, buried their kin in churchyards, read the Scriptures in Greek & Hebrew must mean something.
are you kidding me? Thats all you have - TJ buried their kin in churchyards - therefor he was christian? You could possibly call TJ a christian revisionist - as he obviously does not believe in any of the supernatural nonsense of the bible, as he actually made the TJ version of it, in which he cut out all those parts. But this is akin to me saying that I'm Christian because i agree with certain teachings of Christ.
The idea that private musings between adams and jefferson is the only evidence of TJ's harsh criticism of christianity is preposterous, and only goes to show you aren't well red. The best way to describe Jefferson's religious views would be a skeptical unitarian topped with deism. If Jefferson were to run for president today, he would find his views of Christianity unacceptable to the electorate - And that is a sad thing.
"...America's "atheistic" free-market haters..." So by your way of thinking only god fearing monotheistic peoples who use the bible and not some other holy book (or that don't believe in holy books at all)support capitalism? What have you been smoking and how do I get my hands on some? Religion and economics are two SEPARATE fields. Ones belief in fairy stories does not have anything to do with his economic leanings.Behind your pulpit there must be one ignorant bastard.
I made a point about economics being a very separate issue then religion and you respond by talking about homosexuality? What in the hell would make you take such a leap unless you were gay? Does your wife know she's a beard or do you keep it a secret?
@homeborn I agree we won't see any real intellectual progress for our species as a whole until people stop believing in fairy tales which were created 200 years ago for primitive societies to try and understand the world around them. we don't need to make up stories now
