I competed against C.K. back in the mid 1970's in a travel league in Sacramento, CA. He was a nice guy, a good bowler, and his dad (Gene) ran the pro shop at Mardi Gras lanes off College Oak Avenue.
A 300- first time on TV- WOW! And a servant of the Lord too! C.K. Moore is phenomenally calm all through this; reminds me of Isaiah 26:3- "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You."
I would probably be as steady as Jello on a paint shaker if I were in his shoes.
I remember this. I felt so great for him. I was disappointed that such a role model for sporting youth did not continue in the PBA tour, but I understand that he was needed where he was needed.
Today, we see Youtube videos of Joe Ciccone caught in a curse word, or Brian Kretzer, who dropped both an s-bomb and an f-bomb on TV and did not get You-Tubed...
WRW still remembers his obligations to bowling and its fans, though, and shows class.
Charles K. is da man! When I was a kid in Fairfield, Ca, CK used 2 bowl league there & I looked up 2 him because he was also a lefty & he was nice enough 2 give me tips. He even bowled a 300 in league & made the Daily Republic front sports page. I was proud of the guy & when I heard what he did on TV in 1996, I thanked the Lord for givin C.K. the break, he much deserved. Hey C.K. All the best to ya bud. FF Bowl is now gone, but thanks for the kind words of wisdom..God Bless, Ray
Bloody heck, I couldn't do it in practice! My best i practics is 10 in a row and then a shameful shot on a blocked condition that still only managed to come up enough to leave a 2 pin.
In league, it's even worse... I had 10 in a row and felt, on my 2nd step, as if all the concentration and muscle power had just left me... still I managed an attempt at a release that luckily (no intent required) found half pocket and left a 7.
Too bad I wasn't as in to bowling as I am now... This happened in my home town of Austin, TX., at Highland Lanes! I used to work there, and it's really funny to see my old manager and people I worked with in the crowd lol. There was a plaque of C.K. on the wall for a looong time. Good times. :D

Sports could really use many more C.K. Moores.

CK was/is a great bowler, and a great servant of God.
He's influence dozens of youth from California to Washington and beyond. His impact in God's kingdom is certainly a 300.
This was only the 10th televised 300 at this point, in history!

Actually, this the was the 9th perfect game. Bob Learn Jr.'s was the 10th perfect game.

I've met this guy... he actually talked to me. He's the minister at my youth group. I never knew he was a bowler!

If you're only going to win 1 title in your career, that's the way to do it.
