  • This IS a good game, if you take the time to realise that the beauty isn't the stunning graphics, the flawless translation, or the ultra-realistic physics engine . . . it's almost like playing Thief for the first time, without reading any instructions. That's as close as I can come to a description of a game that is beautiful-without all the trappings that sell todays games.

  • "I felt that you would come"

  • I...I just...is this game REALLY a good game? I look at the graphics and cringe at the voice-acting I'm hearing watching this, but...people seem to think highly of it...Is that just their exaggerations? Or do I need to struggle past the major faults in this game?

I just want to be certain, because I'm considering buying it.

Great video quality, though, thank you very much! :)

  • @XZombieGritsX The graphics and some of the VA(some characters sound good) are quite bad. But for its time it was made it is not THAT bad ;)

I personally enjoy the game for what it is, and all I wish they would do is fix the translation ;/

This game is quite hard to recommend because it is a very very unique game. But if you can find it for around 5/10 pounds(can be even less on ebay) its worth a shot!

  • @XZombieGritsX

It's an amazing game. Not good, not great, but one of the most creative, most emotional, most complex games made. However, it's also very flawed. The graphics haven't aged well at all and the translation is insufferably bad at times.

I played the Russian version, and it's the best case for video games as art I could possibly make. It's a damn shame its genius (I don't use that term lightly!) is held back by the graphics and translation.

  • How to win this game?

  • Hey what period is this game based? Elizabethian? The dialogue sounds like Shakespeare wrote it (I studied Romeo and Juliet in school)

  • @SinderGX not sure but the dialogue is very much like that. They have flamethrowers and Rifles so not that era I think ;P

  • @SinderGX It's very anachronistic, actually...

  • @optiluiz Thank you :)

  • 0:01 Sackboy!

  • русская озвучк лучще)

  • one thing to say - games by ice pick should be played by a russian speaking person. prefeerably knowing some russian litirature.

  • Will this game work with Linux?

  • @Pingascore i really don't know I did try looking it up but I cannot find a answer sorry.

  • What was intended to be cryptic becomes almost impenetrable when translated into English. Its like trying to make sense of a novel that has been run through babel-fish a few dozen times.

  • Hmmm... English version really disappointing me. Russian version was voiced better.

  • I bought this game but gave up on it, the translation is brutal. It seems like an awesome game though. I heard the community was fixing the grammar but I think they gave up.

  • @onetthome They are still doing it. But they are doing it very slowly ;(

  • @MasterJim87 It's a pretty good game. I hate one thing thou, It's that you have to walk around EVERYWHERE! Lol.

  • This is so weird... I feel like I'm watching someone's dream. Everything's connected, nothing makes sense but there's a secret reason for everything. It's all symbolism and ways nobody talks or acts in reality. It's giving me a headache...

  • The storyline for this game is unmatched in video gaming. The crazy atmosphere and everything was pushes it over the top

  • I still have this game installed, waiting for me to finish it. Unfriendly gameplay always pushes me back while that amazing town and atmospehere always call me back :D

  • They're talking about the bull right? The symbolic town?

  • @justinnapier To a extent Yes ;D

  • the voice actor is funny sounding he goes chimeras but its pronounced kymera. and yes i am a total nerd for pointing this out but i just though it was funy lol

  • @bl4ckfang HAHA yea I never noticed that! Nice find mate :D

  • @bl4ckfang:

Actually, they pronounce it "Kymera" in Resistance:Fall Of Man as well.

  • U have that game?I have it as well.I bought it in the Supermarket. It cost me like 299 RSD,since I live in Serbia.I'm still trying to get use to it.

  • @Sawgirl2 Its a hard game mate watch what I do and try to take notice of the little things I do(how I kill the robbers and stuff) and always make more then one save at a time! And lastly yes I have this game I got it when it was new out at GAME in the UK for 15 pounds if I recall ;D

  • The man in the intro sounds almost like Mantid.

  • It's hard to pasas the game over without a walkthrough, especially at the start, when you are not very used to it's features.

But still, it's a masterpice. I enjoy it very much!

  • reminds me a bit of the PSX game LSD.

  • @VaderGaming yea both games use that artsy feel to it ;D

  • Too bad the voicing is so frustrating. The Haruspicus is sounding like an old pirat, and Clara is like a witch(her voice is more cunning). I'm playing the original game in russian(I know russian language), and voices there are great.

  • I agree. They also fluff there lines and do a retake mid way.

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • No problem mate :D

  • well it's not just a game... it's a masterpiece!! I had a little depression after I finished the game though:)

  • hehe XD. Its a work of art my firend :D

  • yes it is.. I can only compare it with "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth". that was a great game too

  • Wow, where can you get this game?

  • Ebay, and I think Direct 2 Drive.

  • (o.o)

  • (∵)

  • 6:36 Arakune is that you?

  • Oh wow they do have the same mask! I never noticed that ;D

  • I've got this game but I gave up on it because at time of purchase I had a shit attention span.

It also fucked up my computer on the options page for some reason.

Maybe I'll look back into it.

  • Yea I gave up on it when I first got it due to it crashing on my old laptop :(

The good thing is now I am playing it on my PC the game runs perfect now :)

  • Fuck year Pathologic.

I just started playing it, the Haruspicus Day 1 is fucking nightmare mode.

  • Yea his story is a little hard at the start. If this is your first time playing the batchelor is the best to play as because he gets a gun on the first day and he gets a full respect bar :)

  • Just started playing the game as Haruspicus too. Take one step out the door and suddenly large men want to pummel my hurt, hungry, exhausted self! Feels a bit overwhelming, but I'm enjoying it. Loving the atmosphere to the game.

  • Are you going to play The Void?

  • I hope to get it in a few weeks and I will get round to playing the game and doing a few gameplay vids(Maybe a walkthrough) in the near future. thanks for the comments :)

  • I got it for christmas so yea I will be playing it mate :D

  • Yeah, the Haduspicus is one hell of fighting. You should have started with Bachelor, that way it would be much easier to become familiar with the game and its gameplay.

  • hey...its me again...ive played this game to the day 2...be careful...when you have talked to the infected woman...go out of the house so fast as u can

  • Yea when I first got there it gave me the chills :)

  • It's a very fun suspense and alternative horror game. Don't let the aged graphics and Englishsky deter you from trying it.

The game is very artistic and philosophical; it reminds me of a Brecht play. I enjoyed the quotations the most.

The soundtrack is really nice, too.

  • Yes this game is very underrated. It is such a shame it is not a very well known game :(

  • It's a SAT Verbal Section game!

jk, I've heard a few good things about it.
