  • History has put this great woman in a place to which no one has assended since her untimely death. She touches my soul.

  • i wish there was a karaoke for this :(

  • Awesome job Patsy Thankyou . JUDA59ful

  • For some reason, this song somewhat reminds me/sound a bit like "They Can't Take That Away From Me",

  • Refreshing

  • love it

  • Patsy was a female Elvis. Her style was very simliar to his and even the Jordanaires backed her on some songs.

  • my mum loved this song so much miss her loads xx

  • thumbs up if are tired of people asking for thunbs up

  • A terrific version of Gogi Grant's #1 hit (1956). Patsy Cline was a truly amazing singer! What a shame she died to young.

  • @ThreadCityDeanF Well indications are Patsy died happy. I can say this now

that her Mom passed away. She lived in the same house in Winchester, VA

that Patsy was born in but you could never get her to talk about Patsy.

Anyhow seems when the plane crashed they found Patsy's little red panties

hanging from a tree, and near as they could tell at the moment of the crash

    Patsy WASN'T IN 'EM.

  • @GooglFascists Do we really need to hear about her panties? Just because her mom has passed is no reason to try and defame Patsy.

Your mom could have been a gypsy whore, but we wouldn't talk about it on YouTube after you died. GEEZ

  • @GooglFascists

Since she was on a trip I'd be pretty surprised if she only had one pair of panties with her. I'd be even more surprised if she was wearing every pair she had with her at the same time.

Given that, maybe you should take your snide insinuations and, whether they're true or not, shove them where the sun doesn't shine.

  • An Murray sang this on a morning show many years ago, but it popped into my head recently so I had to come find it. No idea it was a Patsy number. Sounds good to me!

  • i cant think of anyone today that has this kind of voice it's simply timeless

  • @betudlk2no Gogi Grant !

  • Oh my god, beautiful.

  • one of a kind :)

  • How could any person of sound mind not love this singer and this song.

  • Thumbs up if Zooey Deschenel sent you here.

  • @calehaugen WOW, Seriously I have been listening to She & Him (Zooey's band) and thought Zooey sounded so much like a classic country singer on their records. My curiosity lead me to Youtube to find who Zooey sounds like the most. Now I am here because of Zooey, but not because I saw her video of this song first rather the opposite. This is all craziness and She & Him are wondermazing!

  • Absolutely the best voice ever~Thank U PC for all the great music.

  • ...this version was on her 'Showcase' album.....I bought in 1965..beautiful and haunting...~

  • Gogi Grant, who has a great voice made this a hit...but Patsy Cline had a voice that is hard to beat

  • @chippycarol As I always say - the songs Cline recorded may have been hits for others first, but when Patsy Cline recorded it, it became a "Patsy Cline song" because she put her mark on it so much that anyone who recorded the song before or after her cannot compare. In many cases, she was a fan of the artists that recorded the songs that she did, such as this one.

  • @RememberingDottie I agree with you!

  • @chippycarol A touch of a tear in her voice, huh?!

  • @Gaygarious I honestly can't think of any other female vocalist who can compare to her...with the possible exception of Nana Mouskouri

  • Fantastic voice. If you exhaust her, go to the other greats, Joan Biaz, (don;t like her politics but her singing is good) particularly her Amazing Grace accapalla. Add Karen capenter who was a little thin in sound and Ann Murray, Vera Lynn and the german gal can't remember her name you have them... Not as great but good voices include Mary of PPM and Brenda Lee. They sounded good when sound equipment was primitive because they have a voice not an act like Lady Gaga and Janice Jackson.

  • @ralphebrandt The German gal ........was it Jennifer Rush?

  • What a beautiful voice.

  • my dear departed brothers song love you gary and love this song always

  • Absolutley beautiful.Patsy Cline ,this voice is wonderful. Thanks for this music

  • love Patsy

  • Wonderful voice !!!

  • I just want to know how we went from this to the country music we have now? Where did the meaning and feeling go?

  • You know; I'm only 49 years old. I was only a baby when Patsy was taken from us so youin ng 1963. Yet I still remember her music even as a youngster. My dad listened to her lyrics in his '58 Dodge truck and while I'm now nearly 50, her voice stiill roils my heart. There were so mamy romantic moments in my teenage years that were defined by Patsy's lyrics. She still lives in my heart and so often defines the romantic feelings that define my love life.

  • @jeff62rey That was REAL country music.... Not like the stuff coming out today. I can't stand listening to 99% of today's country.

  • @13ECHO20 ..I soooo agree with you...most of todays country is whining about something...Seems, the subject material is always, inculdes a beer, drink, truck, dance floor, tractor,ex girlfriend and cheating...wow....that about sums up the whole worlds enept view of music!!! No class anymore...Like Patsy

  • i love pastys songs ( may she rest in pease)

  • I love this song and I love this version the best. I could listen to it over and over again.

  • I never knew Patsy covered this song, I'd just heard Gogi Grant's (the most famous version) and Neil Young's. This is great!

Why don't they build voices like this anymore in the US? Seems like the only singers who actually ENUNCIATE their lyrics come out of Europe, and many of them don't even speak English as their first language.

  • The wonderful Patsy Cline singing as only she can I just love it...

  • Listen for when she artfully pulls back on her voice. Very interesting technique.

Perfect execution! So much heart! So much technical ability! wow!

  • wonderful classic country music !!!!!

  • GOD , WHE WAS GREAT! my 3 yr old grandson loves her. he will calm down every time he hears her music. from a family of country lov'n people

  • Beautiful song, beautiful voice, beautiful woman! Need I say more? Thank you for uploading!

  • She really transcended country music imo. She expressed SO much feeling the way she sang. One of my all-time faves definitely.

  • This is the first song I ever performed live...

  • Patsy forever the queen of music in my book

  • Trying to explain how beautiful this is would be like trying to explain to a blind person what colour looks like. There are just no words for it.

  • Some people just cannot be replaced.

    Many can copy,none can compete

  • shetakes me to the olde days world when the lipsticks were so bewitching before they had DNA on them like a next of kin on the wayward wind

  • shetakes me to the olde days world when the lipsticks were so bewitching before the had DNA on them like a next of kin on the wayward wind

  • a girl from good old Virginia who could really sing her heart out.

  • i'm hard of hearing please oh please place much more song with close caption for sooooooooo much people like me

  • She's sings like nooooooo one else can even sing. you know this because god took an earth godness away. god, why? take all the crinmanal away. not the saints

  • i love you ssoooo much/ God dose not know what he did went he let you die on the air plane

  • Late coming in BUT KD Lang can do Patsy justice! Well KD can do a lot of standards justice?

  • @taffynan not

  • thank u for posting this. l love Patsy

  • better than gogi's

  • in 1956: gogi was the only artist who out sold Elvis.....

  • PATSY CLINE A REAL LADY, JUST LOVE HER VOICE. colindaleradiosutch

  • Comment removed

  • love it

  • Patsy always made a song her own. "Crazy" is a good example. This is nothing like Gogi Grant's incomparable version, but Patsy has made it into her own beautiful creation.

  • Sang beautifully.Do not make me choose between Gogi Grant and Patsy Cline. Both were phenomenal.

  • Noone ever has or ever will do this song better than patsy

  • I fell in love with this song as done by Gogi Grant at the tender age of 8, the memories it brings back make my heart ache for those good old days. but I must admit that Patsy Cline's silk smoothe voice really adds to this song, I'm in love all over again. thanks for the post.

  • Nice version but nobody can do it better than Gogi Grant.

  • Fabulous voice ,, it is not only what she sang but HOW she sung , she would sing each song with deep deep feeling .

  • Oh you poor tasteless ppl, i agree with mr rock, shes been in my home all my life, i grew up with her all thru my home, mom, grandma would sing their hearts out to her, i, myself will always love, admire and idolize Patsy, her songs are pieces of life.

  • Yes, she has a great voice and smart way of adding her own interpretation. But this is not her song. You can't honky-tonk everything. Listen to Gogi Grant.

  • @leonbrokenhand ....this is not honky-tonk...pure early 60's pop...Patsy's voice is chilling to the bone.. beautiful...!

  • @yedon68 Gogi Grant introduced Wayward Wind in 1956.

  • @carlsperr ..Yes. I remember...Gogi Grant was wonderful...Patsy's version is from '61 (from her 'Showcase' album)...love 'em both...thanks...!

  • @leonbrokenhand You've got to be kidding me. I listened to the GG version (I like to think) with an open mind, but sheeeesh...overly orchestrated, and her voice can't even come close to Patsy. It actually squawks on some of the prolonged high notes.

  • I listen to Patsy Cline and my heart soars. I have been listening to her sing for more than 50 years now and she still is the BEST. We are so lucky that so many of her performances were recorded so people in the future can share our enthusiasm for her voice.

  • Patsy Cline will always be my favorite female vocalist...

  • when this song is compared to the other vocalists who "attempt" it - there is just no comparison.....she had an amazing instrument and knew full well how to use it. I must agree with the entry regarding the "last note".....what a suitable ending for a song about the wind - it's like she blew into your life - brightened it with her talent for a moment - and then blew right out again.....thanks goodness she left so many priceless recordings behind - there will not be another patsy-not jewel even.

  • Sounds like "Rocket Man"

  • Oh my ... during the last Century we have had the BEST SINGERS IN THE WORLD!!!

It's a thrill to have had these by our sides and Patsy surely was ONE of the greatests =)=

  • ...In.the last note....Patsy carries you away....!

  • When Patsy sung you got goose bumps. Few can do that. Probably one of the best female vocalist of all time. This is a gift. She could cross over from country to popular music and not miss a beat. Classic voice. In a league of her own.

  • I couldnt figure out what to watch next. that was so amazing.

  • She is what she is and is now long gone ...What a voice what a talent second to none ...A meteor passing through our time and space ...

  • @wjmnola It's very true. Every now-and-then, there'll be a voice that reminds me of Patsy, which is nice to hear, but no one quite reaches her level. She truly had a talent that comes but once in a lifetime.

  • @weightfeather1 not the voice but something.....kd lang?

  • beautiful.....................

  • I'm left breathless.

  • no one knows true heartache like patsy cline. i'm so thankful that this beautiful voice graced the airwaves and that she is still enjoyed to this day!

  • there are no words to express the indelible impressions upon me. haunting.

  • Such a beautiful voice..she is missed by many.

  • Her voice would have made Iron melt What a singer she was ...

  • Music so sweet, you could pour it over hotcakes. There'll never be another one like her.

  • Her voice is like honey.

  • absolutely the greatest female country artist ever

  • @149tinker I agree with you one hundred percent and I dare to add... there won't be anyone else to replace her

  • @Nema30 I fully agree, they only one I've heard that can come close is LeeAnn Rimes

  • No one could emotionly own a song like Patsy could - I doubt there will ever be another like her - RIP PC

  • Gosh she is good, maybe the best all time female vocalists and she isn't, she is on the short list.!

  • Another great singer gone before her time....Sometimes in this world in which we live there really is no justice...RIP Patsy...God Bless

  • I vividly remember playing this song over and over at my Grandmothers house, then Dad and I would go to the diner for dinner..and I would play it 3 times at dinner.... I think it cost 5 cents per song back then.......God Bless Dad -RIP - Your son, Paul

  • there shall never be another voice like Patsy's and her voice wasn't autotuned like many today !

  • Patsy was one of the best. There is a lady on SingSnap that sounds almost like her.... barbaragail .... beautiful voice :)

  • She is an all time treasure. Thanks for posting Patsy

  • Patsy rocked this Mother!!! If you can listen to this and not feel exactly what Patsy wants you to feel then you feelin' nuthin'!

  • Love this song and Patsy Cline, awesome voice!!

  • This is my favorite by Patsy Cline. I'm now 60 yrs, young and this song takes back to the days when we lived with my grandfather. I would float around making up my own dance trying to be the wind. Notice how Patsy sings the word WIND. Her voice floats like the easy wind. She is one of those singers who has a truly unique voice. My other favorite is Walk'in After Midnifght. Her song writers knew how to write songs for her

  • @krstmaati8 Lovely, poetic appreciation of your favorite singer and you, a young sensitive girl then " trying to be the wind ". Oh happy lyrical memory ! You too thinking ( as below ) : " still love and miss you patsy ". In a way every mortal soul is a " unique voice " and a special memory to somebody : " Wishing you were here again ! " ( Phantom of the Opera ) .

  • @krstmaati8 I'm with you. I'm 64 now. I came to this country in '60 from Scotland as a kid. Patsy was one of the first American singers I remember hearing, and it started

a "love affair" that's lasted all this time. Once you hear Patsy no other will do. She is telling a story and you have to hang on every word. There's none better.

  • still love and miss you patsy

  • i am 36 and i love patsy cline she was the best x

  • I HAVE ALL OF PATSY CLINE SONG SHE HAS SUNG & THERE IS NO ONE WHO

    SWEETDREAMS PATSY.XXXXXX

  • I CAN RELATE TO HAVE THAT WONDERING BLOOD I HAVE DRIFTED FOR YEARS

  • I love Patsy and have always loved this song, there will never be another like miss Patsy Cline.

  • Both Gogi Grant & Patsy Cline were capable of touching the human Soul with their haunting quality. What more can an entertainer ask for and it is why they will enure the pages of time. Find it hard to believe 5 people gave this rendition a thumbs down.

  • Both Gogi Grant & Patsy Cline were capable of touching the human Soul with their haunting quality. What more can an entertainer ask for and it is why they will enure the pages of time.

  • "the next of kin, the next of kin, to the wayward wind"...

  • Ms. cline is one of a million singers to come long in many life times. She will be here in records and videos for the future fans and i cant waite to be with her and the rest of the world to see her on the great stage in the sky!

  • I just listened to both versions Patsy<s and Gogi Grant. Both versions are first class. Almost a haunting quality. I have to say I give Gogi Grants version the edge tough

  • @cmcharlesmillar

I respectfully disagree--Gogi's version is classic but Patsy made this song her own. Like Billie Holiday, she gives her songs an ironic poignancy that is second to none. That's why she lives on nearly 50 years after her death.

  • Yea, I'm not a CW fan, but she could really sing. No doubt about it.

  • happy birthday Pats!

  • nostalgic !!!!!! beautiful

  • Patsy, a legend forever!

  • Patsy, your voice was as angelic as your nice personality. Just cannot listen you enough ...

  • Nothing else to say, you all have said. I will just enjoy Patsy until the end of my days.

  • SWEET!!

  • pure awesomeness here. Patsy will always be the queen!!

  • No offense to any of the other female country singers over the decades, but Patsy Cline blows them all away...hands down. Her voice is so strong and powerful, so mesmerizing that it is simply incredible.

  • what a legend

  • greatest ever singer x

  • What a wonderful song. What a voice. Maybee the best I´ve ever heard.

  • How can someone be so beautiful?

  • oh Patsy cline.... THE purest unedited voice there has ever been!! I grew up listening to my mom play her. That and Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, all the greats. But no one will ever be Patsy cline. R. I. P Miss Cline.....

  • The voice of an angel.

  • ONE OF PATSY'S MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS EVER......

R.I.P. THE LATE AND GREAT MISS PATSY CLINE....

THE ORIGNAL QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC....

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • No one can or ever will compete with ms patsy cline! She is a favorite and always have been. Wish we had more people like her today! and.. adding my too cents here who the hell would compare above all people TAYLOR SWIFT to patsy cline?! Seriously, all taylor does is scream and can never hit a not in a live performance to save her life! Patsy was REAL!

  • soothing,,, so soothing music

  • she's not too shabby either.

  • She's stunning.

  • my favorit song

  • Totally agree with you Women. Patsy can sing across 5 octives and remind me of what a woman's voice can inspire me to do. You women out there keep singing to your men,...and reap the rewards. A man who knows.

  • No one will ever replace Patsy she was truly a one of a kind singer.....Patsy I cab only imagine the songs you would have made for us....Sadly your career and life ended so shortly...You will always be remembered and loved....

  • Patsy is,Unquestionably, the GREATEST female star that country music has ever beheld. She can bring tears to the eyes of 'hoodlums'...i saw it happen way back in 1972,at three o'clock in the morning in a honk tonk in Connecticut. She had Pure pathos and a HEARTRENDING style that cannot fully be explained. No-one on earth past present or future will ever be able to touch her. Brad Savage -- Lifelong Fan and collector.

  • @alzahad ...hers was a God given voice...no one in pop or country can match her...!

  • patsy at her best, awesome. i love all her songs. heavenly voice

  • I think this was supposed to be a cross over song for her. I saw this song preformed on the Lawrence Welk Show but it was not as good as this.

  • The BEST EVER. PERIOD.

  • I love this song ...

  • sn=mashing song. one of my favorates. next to "if i could see the world"

  • Patsy Cline is a favorite star of mine i can remember going to grandmas and listening to old Patsy Cline records always loved her voice

  • so many people are blown into your life, caress them they bring many gifts

  • This is such a great song.

I cant believe it never charted on the country or pop charts.

Patsy's version is so much better then Gogi Grants.

R.I.P The one and only Patsy Cline

  • @Patsyclinefan1 ...this was never a single.....recorded on her ;showcase' album..!

  • WOW

  • awesome! TY Candy! A lovely performance.

  • Sweet self-parody from ForeverAnalog. Just when I was getting to thinking that Hollywood has overused country folk as the butt of jokes, it is shown that they just did not get the details right. The bumpkin is mostly dead, but there are still at least 24, at the time of writing, threatening insular compensating chauvinists
