  • Very often we are taught to do the emergency stop into a turn. However, I have been in situations on the trail where you have a mountain going up on one side and a mountain going down on another and you are on a single track with no room to turn.

  • While I respect your great videos and experience, I don't agree with keeping the horse in a straight line. You are using this procedure in an emergency situation and that means your life could be in danger. A horse will naturally slow down if pulled into a turn because he does not want to fall down in fear of getting attacked/killed by whatever spooked him. And it would only be a slight turn until you can gain control. If a horse is just lightly spooked and no fear for life, str8 line ok.

  • @benellidown This is used when you don't have the room to turn.

  • This would have been awesome to know a few days ago when another horse caused my horse to spook and blot- I would've had one less bruised hip.

  • It will certainly work with a curb bit, just be light when you first apply it as a curb is a leverage bit and it is a strong rein hold.... CHA

  • awesome stuff julie, Ive been waiting for a long time to see a video of you do the puelly rein, I started using this method last year!!! great info to know!! but will this work on a horse with a curb bit? I use a snaffle bit so I dont know about a curb or a bit with a roller
