it honestly confuses me as to how people fail to appreciate programs like city year, that do nothing but help america's youth. i guess people feel that helping others is not in their best interests.
What does Marxism and the "Obama Agenda" have to do with this video? Check the date: this video was made during the Bush Administration. Second, these Service youth put a lot of their own money (out of the monthly stipend that works out to less than half of national minimum wage) into helping these kids out. How much money and/or time have YOU voluntarily given to help out someone less privileged than you?
i graduated from city year this year. it was my first year doing it and its really fun! i think everyone should join it. not to mention it helps get u into hight school. im doing it for 8th grade and thruout highschool too! GO CITY YEAR AND YOUNG HEROS!
this is just like the Russian Nashi youth movement currently going on. Once the hope fades and the pressure builds, they will become an armed wing of the Obama political movement. All in an effort to "help" people. Totaly neo-brown shirts.
I have had the pleasure of working with City Year two times over the last 5 or 6 years. They are one of only a few non-profits that I consider as really doing a great job in their community. Before a claim is made that I'm just saying this to help myself - I am not currently working for them and do not anticipate being able to in the near future. My comments do not garner any benefit for myself.
looks like hitler youth core all over again. this is how hitler youth started, stalin youth, and the communist castro brothers youth core started out you fools!!!
These young people really do change lives. My daughter spent the past year mentoring in a middle school. She loved working with the children. I am proud of her she worked long hours and hard over the past year and hung on and I am so proud of what she has accomplished in the past year. I cant wait to attend the graduation tomorrow. Congratulations to all the members graduating tomorrow in PA!
Hello, i am the person singing the hook on this song. I never got to meet the rapper but i hear he's a very talented dude. I served 06-07 CYNY on the Long Island City Team at P.S. 111. I've heard this commercial has been seen all over the country. Glad you all enjoyed it. Keep servin'- Jovanna
Money = sustainability. Corporations = money. Without the cash flow, non-profits can't survive. This ad is meant to inspire people to help others. Would you rather have poor kids just rot on the streets or kill each other off? As for being a "virus," AIDS is a virus, bigotry is a virus, stupidity is a virus. I don't call a movement devoted to helping kids to become successful a "virus."
if you want to change the way people live and help them get a better life you should be educating people to become more sustainable and less reliant on money.
money is not slavery, debt is slavery. Debt is greed. To buy things you dont need with money you dont have is greed and you undo your liberty with every purchase you make when you dont have the money for the big screen TV.
Money is just a medium of exchange between two parties. To blame money is foolish and avoiding what the true slavery is.
CY is a fucking joke. They talk a big game, but all these pr videos are completely staged. Apparently national service means spreading like a virus and pandering to corporate sponsors for money.
You have no idea what you are talking about. I am in City Year right now. It's not a joke and these videos aren't staged. They are real corps members doing what they would normaly do, just with cameras filming them as they do it. And of course we have to go to corporations, how else do you expect us to live, we need money to pay for our buildings, and vans, as well as to pay the stipen that we corps memebers need to stay in our apts while we serve. You should think before you decide to write.
I realize that what they are doing is good and that these people have good, pure intentions to serve, but these kind of things should not be connected in any way to the government or taxpayer money, it should be privately funded and operated. The people should be able to choose how they want to give charitably, and they would if given the chance. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that any kind of social programs should be run by the government.
Alright! City Year needed a well-made commercial advertisement, I hope it gets played on real TV so it can reach a bigger audience. I know this commercial would peak my interest for sure if I saw it on TV! Really neat animation...I feel like a proud mother...despite being a 23 year old dude. WOO CITY YEAR!

Money = Slavery
Corporations = Money
