Have to say, I really didn't like this one bit. This is a typical example of a metal drummer trying to be something he isn't. I'm a metal drummer and would even dream of playing such styles that badly. Stick with what you know or at least get good at it before unleashing it on everyone!

he DID go to Berklee after all. He even said that he was pretty much ONLY metal guy out of every drummer there in '88. about this solo in particular though, I've seen MUCH better from him. This one was actually quite "bad" considering the stuff he's done before. The flow in the beginning of this one is horrible and it sounds where "spliced" together as far as his transitions go. Now, he is still awesome, but this solo was one of his worst.

Ok...I love Bonham and Zeppelin. I do however, also love drummers who are known for being drummers. I'm talking about the Dave Weckls, JoJo Mayers, Steve Gadds, Max Roachs, John Blackwells, and my personal favorite is Marco Minneman. I completely agree with your opinion of accessible music and the fact that most people don't take the time to really look at what's out there. Something can be taken from all those names you mentioned. Anything I can learn will only make me a better drummer.

well jason bittner happens to be my favorite drummer. i know he isnt the best but hes my favorite. i checked out that bonham guy because you said his solos dont suck but all he did was hit random drums for like 20 seconds because hes a dirty hippy. you should get smacked in your mouth for even thinking that hes better than neil and buddy rich would tear him a new ass hole. but you probably think tommy lee is amazing to

totally agree. I don't understand this whole john bonham thing. It's because people who listen to more accessible music only know accessible drummers. So their choices are shit like john bonham, neil peart, and guys like joey jordison. You ask a bonham fan if they have ever heard of dave weckl, tony williams or jojo mayer

Ok...I love Bonham and Zeppelin. I do however, also love drummers who are known for being drummers. I'm talking about the Dave Weckls, JoJo Mayers, Steve Gadds, Max Roachs, John Blackwells, and my personal favorite is Marco Minneman. I completely agree with your opinion of accessible music and the fact that most people don't take the time to really look at what's out there. Something can be taken from all those names you mentioned. Anything I can learn will only make me a better drummer.

i agree. but bro i have to say there's something wrong with your ears if you don't get the "whole john bonham thing." oh and by the way i'm a bonham fan and i HAVE heard of dave weckl, tony williams, jojo mayer and many many more. they're all bad asses too. i'm not even sure how you can compare bonham and peart to weckl, williams and mayer. if you want to compare groove and feel then bonham takes the cake, but if you want to compare from a technical view, yeah, those guys blow bonham away.

i have to disagree. especially with dudes like jojo and tony. I mean jojo can rip, but have you ever seen videos like pleasure control? check it out. Hey bonham has feel dont get me wrong, I just think the feel in his playing is as guided or progressive sounding as someone like tony williams or jojo's. hard to explain. almost like every nuance was purposely put there, even deeper than a ghost note
