  • Do sell the DVD on that Master Rickson Gracie seminar?

  • Judo is for self-defense. ONE throw of a Judo Black Belt ends every fight on the street. Did Rickson Gracie ever win against a world champion of Judo or Sambo even under the funny rules of BJJ?????

  • @01Proust BJJ was born out of Judo and thus uses Judo throws. To get a blue belt (the first belt after white) in a Gracie school you basically have to be able to win a street fight. They test you on things that wouldn't be allowed in a sport fight. More important to defend yourself at that point then to win a sport fight. Also Rickson is a Judo black belt too so he could probably hold his own in a Judo tournament.

  • @Brett9897 Check out which techniques Helio Gracie used most for self-defense (you can find videos on youtube): For self-defense Helio Gracies primarily used throws of Judo. To win a streetfight a Judoka learns everything he needs in his yellow belt test as most Judo throws are devastating. Helio Gracie knew that fighting on the ground has no relevance for self-defense and therefore in his SELF-DEFENSE videos he shows no BJJ-sport techniques. However, even a Judoka has to learn to punch hard.

  • @01Proust I already stated that BJJ incorporates Judo throws. I'm not sure why you are saying that a Judoka learns everything he needs in his first belt and imply that a BJJ student wouldn't. You have to be proficient at Judo throws to get your blue belt in BJJ. Plus I haven't found any Helio Gracie street fight videos considering there wasn't widespread use of personal video cameras until the man was near his 70s. Rickson used Judo throws and then BJJ on the ground in his street fights.

  • I'm developing a new style it's called BJJ (Bulgarian Ju Jitsu) What dya reckon? It's going to be based mainly on groundfighting techniques with new moves such as the Kimura, cross arm bar, crucifix etc.....

  • But while Jigoro Kano created those new rules in Japan, the Gracies were still practicing the style of pre-1925 Judo.

  • You have to partially blame the creator of Judo himself, Jigoro Kano. In the early 1900s, Kano, who loved throws more than groundwork, saw that students were spending more time on the ground instead of utilizing throws. He didn't like that. Throwing was his #1 passion. So in 1925, Kano set up new rules that limited time on the ground and made it mandatory to use a throw on your opponent. It only got worse when Kano's dream of Judo becoming a Olympic sport was realized.

  • @hondaciviccoupe10 Kano was a real master and consequently he knew what a Judo throw means on concrete or on the pavement. On the street a judo throw means ippon and Judo rules reflect reality. Beeing thrown on the street by a judoka every aggressor can easily be pacified by Judo groundwork. However, BJJ is a great sport for television.

  • nice english rickson

    x.x

  • niice !

  • rickson have a huge dick

  • Great video,it's a big honnour to train with a real master!Total respect!

  • why does valente bros jiu jitsu logo have two dudes sparring with one dude throwing a high kick? strange. you'd think it'd be two dudes grappling.

  • @UklaTheMokk

look at the photo in the back @ 1:12

  • I attended this seminar. Rickson defined the details he gave as "invincible" or "invisible" jiu jitsu?

  • @Perroxacaso invisible

  • Rickson is my Michael Jordan

  • @valdostastate77 no doubt and no homo, but i listen to this guy talk and teach all day long.

  • I know there is a whole mystique with Rickson, but I really wish he would post some of his techniques at some point just to push BJJ further forward. He must be incredible, judging for those that train with him, but I still would like to see at least a sample of his great tech.

  • he doesn't have some sort of secret techniques no one knows, in my opinion his differential and his secret are his natural talent plus hardcore daily training and a incredible sense of timing to put up the moves, and like a chess game, all the moves are connected.

    greetings from Brazil!

  • @wanderbjj I have been to his seminar many years ago. At the end of the event he rolled with everyone who attended and asked everyone how they would like to get submitted. He submitted us all (about close to 100 people). He teaches the same techniques as anyone else, but he plays bjj like a chess game. He sees many moves ahead, has excellent timing, really feels your body and can predict your actions. He's just a super talented and athletic guy with a great work ethic.

  • hehe, rickson is around 50 now right? Hope to get a chance to train with him somewhere in the future

  • Brazilian jiu jitsu is best fighting system ever.

far superior than any other system.

  • @BluePittbull666 exactly

  • omg, pains me to see rickson looking pretty old :(

  • Whats the song at 1:20 ,thx

  • Wow...When he entered the dojo it was like Yoda himself walked in...

  • long live the Gracie family!

  • peace from Brazil.,....much respect for Japanes

  • PEDRO VALENTE NEXT TIME PLEASE FIX UR BELT..... IT IS IN THE WRONG SIDE,,,,, HOW CAN A BLACK BELT WITH SO MANY STRIPES STILL DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX UR BELT,....... SHAME

  • @RM3103 who cares about his belt, the gracies do not nor have ever followed jap tradition. The japs always put too much emphasis on blind tradition and fuck all on things actually working

  • @billysue2

Hey fuck face..... i see u dont know shit ABOUT MY ART, I AM BRAZILIAN,,,, u fuck americans are learning with US...so please learn the right way...FUCK AMERICANS STUPID AS HELL..... and by the way GO FUCK UR SELF......:)

  • @RM3103 hahahahaha!

I like the way you've said it! and by the way GO Fuc..... hahahahaha!

    I liked that!

and its so true that there are many Americans are so dumb and do not even want to accept anything from others, and they never learn shit from anyone who is NOT an American.

    Peace from Japan!

  • @RM3103 roger, rener, ryron, and kron are some of the best grapplers in the world and they're all american. all of the best in anything is here in america, so fuck off bitch

  • @JMoore4291 Hockey players? Soccer players? F1 drivers? Judo players? Combat Sambo competitors? World Strongman? Best P4P MMA fighter=GSP=Canadian. Need I go on?

  • @SCROGY hockey-dont care, soccer players-dont care but the best definitely arent in canada, F1 drivers-dont care, judo-dont care but the best arent in canada either, sambo-only reason anyone knows about sambo is because of fedor (russia), strongman (pudzianowski, poland) P4P MMA= Anderson Silva, so if youre going to make a statement then youre going to need to go on a hell of a lot longer then that (but this time try to name some canadians that have done somethin) also nick diaz will fuck gsp up

  • @JMoore4291 Ummm buddy you need to learn to debate. I DID NOT SAY the best of anything were in Canada. YOU said the best of EVERYTHING were in the U.S. Therefore you made a totally unsubstantiated statement that is both wrong and unsupported by evidence. You then go on to say that you "don't care" when you are presented with a list of sports where the best clearly are not in th U.S. That's not how logical debate works my friend. Do not create Strawman arguments and Red Herrings.

  • @SCROGY the best of shit that matters, like our army, but the shit that matters to me, the usa is better than any other country including brazil at mma and jiu jitsu, 135, 155, 205, and 265 champs are all american, about to be 170 when nick diaz beats the shit out of gsp, then all the new era of gracies were all born and raised in the usa with an american mom... thats an american

  • @JMoore4291 Your army? I'll take Isreali commandos or British SAS any day thanks. The US army is only powerful because of the stupid amounts of money they spend on technology. Your millitary spending on the last couple wars you've been in has eclipsed 1 trillion dollars while people starve in your streets, and yet their record is what again? How long to find Osama? How have you been doing since Korea? Not too good eh? And how many of the last ADCC winners were Americans or Gracies?

  • @SCROGY i didnt say anything about an adcc winner, i said the best, which are the new breed of gracies, which are american

  • @JMoore4291 They aren't the best. The best are the ones winning the ADCC and the mudials.

  • @SCROGY wrong, rener and ryron dont even compete in that bullshit anymore because its so based on points... what are points anyways... if someone takes you down and gets 2 points and you double ankle sweep them and are then on top of them you dont get any points and you're still losing 2-0 so if that match stays there for the rest of the time limit you lose even if the other guy is stalling the whole time... gay. to me you didnt win until you made the other guy tap, thats admitting that you lose

  • @JMoore4291 Uh, I have never been to a tournament where you don't get points for a sweep. And guess what? Every combat sport is based on points. You can win on points in Boxing, Judo, Sambo/Combat Sambo, Wrestling, Karate, TKD, Muay Thai. That sounds more like an excuse to me. And Kron DID LOSE at ADCC this year. If you want unlimited matches the stay in the dojo. The people that run tournaments do have to go home at the end of the day you know. Not every match can be 3 hours long.......

  • @SCROGY Gentlemen, I watched the heated debate between you and I would make some comments: Grand Master Helio has always been against the use of points in competition, he believed that the real jj, was focused into submission. Look at the Gracie lineage, to know the origin of BJJ: Jigoro Kano -> Tomita Tsunejiro -> Carlos Gracie -> Helio Gracie

We must thank Gracie for maintaining newaza saved, while judo has deteriorated in Olympic competitions.

  • @leocmen Jigoro Kano -> Tomita Tsunejiro -> Carlos Gracie -> Helio Gracie not sure why you stop there go farther back and such. Then Jigoro Kano was amazing but he was not the best Japanese Jujitsu person. Choi Yong-Sool tought Hapkdio but he really was a Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu master and his master was Takeda Sōkaku. Real Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu tears apart any and all ground work. Then to say Gracie is complete martial art. I dont think so there is so much more to know and learn.

  • @MasterHatfield Never said Gracie JJ is a complete Martial art, but they kept the Ne Waza safe from the distortions suffered by Olympic Judo. I have a deep respect for Takeda Sokau and also Ueshiba and other Masters: the art of ending the fighting in the first contact with the opponent. Like Bruce Lee said: "Be like Water" and this is the principle of BJJ: school of the heart of the willow...

  • @leocmen Your right about Olympic style Judo. The olympics completely ruined the art by just emphasizing the throws.

  • Gracie JJ is a TRADEMARK, just it. JJ does not have owner but we have to respect them for keeping the ne waza safe while JUDO, as a real martial art, was totally deteriorated on the path of Olympic games.

  • Comment removed

  • @JMoore4291 My bad, it was the Mundials that Kron lost at not ADCC.

  • @JMoore4291 The Gracie ethinicities are Brazilian lol ...

  • @RM3103 i think people like you are so funny, what is brazilian jiu jitsu? a martial art that the gracies invented and transformed into the their own martial art... then helio gracie modified bjj into his own form, gjj (gracie jiu jitsu) this was found to be the BEST martial art (as proved in the early ufc's and still today) so then the BEST martial art in the world was then taught to the usa, although some people call it brazilian jiu jitsu its best learned in the states, so suck a fat dick

  • I totally agree he is the man !

He is the true martial artist .... I have great respect !!

  • Master Rickson Gracie is a real LEGEND

I wish i would have the honor to train with him one day

  • Rickson Gracie is the man and R.I.P Grand Master Helio thank you for giving me the chance to be a great martial artist here in Newfoundland

  • For an explanation of the Valente Brothers logo go to their website section entitled "our logo."

Remember that Combat GJJ is much more than grappling unlike sport GJJ.

Who's opinion should we believe with respect to the Valente Brothers being legit or not...souzajr. or Grand Master Helio Gracie and all his sons???

  • @jujutsu9 the valente brothers are legit! more so because of the people they trained under. much respect from texas

  • Nice video.

Lots of respect for Master Rickson.

Anyone agrees that the Valente Brothers logo is weird? I mean, a guy throwing a kick and the other one dodging isn`t exactly an image you associate with bjj...

  • valente is fake

  • i need to take a piss.

  • "we all have to accept losing" ... yeah Rickson... you have a reputation for that XD

  • What does this color of belt mean? That he is 9th dan or 10th?

  • @Chevalier765 7th

  • @Chevalier765 rickson is an 8thdegree coral belt. red and black , red belts are reserved for all the original founders of bjj. but in my opinion rickson should be a redbelt.

  • @8ringsofshaolin Actually in BJJ, the red belt is not reserved for the original 5 brothers (10th dan). Red belts are also used by 9th degrees. Look up some 9th dan like the late Carlson Gracie Sr., Robson Gracie, Reyson Gracie, Rorion Gracie, Alvaro Baretto, Joao Alberto Baretto, Flavio Behring, Francisco Mansor, and you’ll see that they all wear red belts. To get your 9th dan red belt you must be a minimum of 67 years old. Rorion is only 58 and got his red years ago from Helio.

  • @Chevalier765 Actually he is 7th degree (I almost sure of that, the same of my teacher's master Rolker Gracie, Rickson's brother). The 10th cannot be given anymore. The maximum a figher can reach is 9th. Only the master of the past, and some of them are alive today, got the 10th degree.

  • @ramonsilva1 Red belts are given, 7th and 8th degree black belts wear a black and red belt, 9th and 10th degree black belts wear a red belt . Francisco Mansur, Alvaro Barreto, Joao Alberto Barreto, Flavio Behring, and Rorion Gracie are all 9th degree red belts. The 10th degree red belt is the one reserved for the founders ie Grandmasters Carlos, Helio, Oswaldo, George and Gastao. These special belts represent more than just technical skill, its more about what you've don for the art.

  • @ramonsilva1 Rickson is an 8th degree red and black belt, not a 7th.

  • @Chevalier765 In Brazilian jiu-jitsu from black to 6th degree the person wears a regular black belt with a 4” to 5” red bar on one end. For 7th and 8th degrees they wear an alternating red and black belt, similar to the red and white belt used in judo for 6th, 7th, and 8th degrees. And for 9th and 10th degrees they use a red belt, just like judo uses for their 9th and 10th degrees.

  • @barrettokarate OK i see. Who can give Rickson the next belt?

He is supposed to be the best.

  • @Chevalier765 Since there are no longer any 10th degree red belts alive in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he has basically two options. One is to be awarded his 9th degree red belt from another 9th degree red belt. There are several 9th degree red belts alive, including two of his cousins and his eldest brother Rorion. However, I doubt that he would ever accept rank from anyone other than his late father Helio, especially from his brother. The 2nd option is that in about 10-15 years he promotes himself.

  • @barrettokarate rorion is a red belt

  • @ordaboy Not sure why your replying "rorion is a red belt" to me, since I mentioned it on two of my previous four posts. He's been a red belt since 2003.

  • @barrettokarate hmmmm,i musta clicked on the wrong person

  • @barrettokarate he doesnt need to get it from any single person ,several lads have got it from 1 of the federations.I dont think any of helios side are even part of the federations anymore, they certainly have always ignored the grading guidelines.ID say rickson like anyone with a brain could care less about any meaningless belt

  • @Chevalier765 grades above black belt have nothing to do with ability in bjj, they are for time in grade, you could be useless and still get them. Its the black thats the measurement of ability.

  • Great i never saw thoses images

  • this is a great show and great professors of jiu jitsu. this looks great

  • It looks amazing to finally see the black and red around Rickson's waist. Come years, there will be a red belt there where it belongs. I can only pray Rickson comes someday close enough for me to go and see him, beside Royce and Helio, he has been my largest influence to study BJJ, and IMO he's still the best.

  • @thebuzzcjc Not so hard to get a belt when your family invented the system, no?

  • @siasti lol I guess not..

  • @thebuzzcjc I was kinda joking. I know that Rickson is a jiu-jitsu genius. Shame about his boy dying tho...

  • rickson gracie is one of the best jiu-jitsu masters ever! I wish i was there
