  • I don't know if you know Eastern Front. Although they are not pagan themed, definately worth a shout for English Black Metal in general!

Thanks for the video by the way!

  • @a7xsuckcock Great suggestion, at the time I was limited to 'new'-ish bands and I think I was focusing on vaguely 'volkisch' themes. The mighty 'saggith are in a league of their own!

  • Brilliant compilation :) These are awesome bands, but I'd put Fyrdsman in there!

  • Ethereal Woods?! Give me a fucking break. Also I do not believe Forefather appreciate the 'black metal' tag.

  • @INSTINCTUKBM If the general consensus is that a band plays a certain style of metal, it doesn't make one shot of difference whether or not the band appreciate that label. If every band labelled themselves, things would get ridiculous.

  • Thanks for this, I've never heard of a few of these bands. I love the Scandanavian Viking metal, so it's great we too can celebrate our heritage. Let's just hope the BNP don't get hold of it...

  • All good bands =]

  • Great post. England is rich with ancient history. Bands like this help us revive our ancient heritage and customs that have been long forgotten.

  • Love Wodensthrone. Everyone should own their album.

  • awesome, thanks for posting this.

  • I thought it was always mainland europeans getting into their ancestry but now we can too, thanks.

  • I've not heard a good reason why we can't!

  • @Shadofax5 We have the same roots has mainland europians anyway. West-Germanic tribes such as the Anglo-Saxons.

  • Very well put together compliation here. Good to hear Forefather, Wodensthrone and Iceni!

Have you heard, Askival? Although.. fair to say, they're Scottish. Many people count them as English however!

  • Yes I've heard Askival, fantastic stuff. The new album teaser I hear a little while back sounded wonderful as well.

I think for the sake of respect and distinction I regard it as Scottish, though a great example of UKBM, more broadly speaking.

  • Yeah of course, that's understandable. I bought their album Eternity 2 months ago. Mind blowing stuff.

Thanks for putting the myspace links up. Discovered a couple of awesome folky metal and black metal bands.

    Cheers!
