Irade - a decree from a Muslim ruler... of ancient royal Turkish or Arabic origin, et al... the Eye could refer to mystic understanding [i.e. the third eye, or eye chakra] "hallowed secrets"... similiar to ancient Egypts Horus' Eye. more or less.
Also, it's "I'll keep it to myself, my own advisement in my head." What even is an Irade eye? I don't mean to be rude, but come on...it just doesn't make sense...
@blurbization you weren't rude -- not to me, at least, since I didn't wrote down these lyrics, I just "stolen" them from am.info. English is not my mother tongue, and I tought it would be easier to figure them out for someone for whom it were...but apparently I was wrong (this never happens with italian songs, btw...)
@blurbization I've read somewhere "I'll keep it to myself, while your brave eyes swim in my head" .. who wrote it down said also that he/she copied it form the CD cover..
I really love the movie Prince of Persia. It's so awesome!!! Especially with Jake Gyllanhall acting! He is sooooo nice!! Hahaha, but anyway, the song is oddly catchy, and it's got this quaint, quiet feel to it. Basically, the whole soundtrack was wonderful, but I like this song the most!
@xxxINDI03xxx I wouldn't say that at all. She's expansive and this is a ballad. So she does a few ballads (And thinking about it she always has done a few per album.) and you write her off? Or is it the soundtrack issue? cuz I would have yo point you back to 1998 with Uninvited.
@yancybutler in my opinion (I am a composer as well) the harmonies and the vocal-lines are very poor. at least its well produced ... but as always its a matter of personal taste ;) I would prefer Alanis doing more indie style music again instead of trying to go mainstream ... well whatever :)
@xxxINDI03xxx I want to clarify that I'm not a fan of this song(although I do find some of morissette's newer work to be good such as Citizen of the Planet or moratorium.)- I just thought the dion comment was a bit out of line. I think the lyrics are clunky- However think the vocals are amazing and the music is silly and cheesy with it's over use eastern influence...but When I hear the radio, stuff like this isn't on it, so I have a hard time considering this song "mainstream".
I liked ur video, but I think u got the Lyrics wrong, the second verse, I believe it is: "..To some it seems foreign by I, but still we forge ahead(..My eye, would steely..") "..Less daunting esteem(..As team..") Last Chorus is: "..As my solo journey fades(..my soldier need fades..") ."..How I love to love you and how loyal I remain(..And how'd I reman")
@JennaJade00 thank you for the corrections: since english isn't my first language, I'm not always capable of write down lyrics for a song...especially for Alanis' :)
@JennaJade00 Not quite...it's "To some it seems foreign why I would steely forge ahead." Not 'my eye.' I mean, why would you say that? Try saying it out loud. It makes no sense.
@blurbization ...I think u read my reply to this comment wrong hon. My corrections are the ones out of perenthises; the lyrics inside are the ones I was correcting. My corrections are the right lyrics, I know this because I've worked with the man who produced the song for Alanis. And the corrections to your lyrics are "I'll keep it to myself, while your brave eyes swim in my head" (..."my own advisement in my head") So just like you said, 'It just doesnt make sense'. But nice try anyways!...
@JennaJade00 I thought it was 'To some it seems foreign why I would steely forge ahead.' To be honest, I've read so many versions I'm not sure any more... @_@

Alanis is a true poet/lyricist...she puts her amazing mind to work and writes lyrics that we all can relate to in some way or another, thank you for posting and thank you Alanis!!
@AreWe67 ~ the original soundtrack lyrics, she has correct. I've read that Alanis begrudgingly in some live TV appearances and other performances changed some lyrics to have less middle eastern and esoteric references. i.e. ~ Irade - a decree from a Muslim ruler... of ancient royal Turkish or Arabic origin, et al... the Eye could refer to mystic understanding [i.e. the third eye, or eye chakra] "hallowed secrets"... similiar to ancient Egypts Horus' Eye. more or less.
¿Cómo es posible que me guste tanto Alanis? :) I so love her voice,I had to tell it in my language,so I fully express how much I like her voice and her songs, since I was a teenager, haha,I´ll never forget when I heard "you oughta know" for the first time. It´s a really good choice for "Prince of Persia",Bravo!
@MITHWORLD1 same here: I love her since I first herd of her, I was 13yo...I listen to loads of stuff now, but she still have the most wonderful voice in the world, for me! *.*
I whatch Prince Of Persia on cinema about 3 days ago!! I love it! Is so perfect!!! I love Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Tamina (she is beutiful), and the story, images, the place, exotic thing... all that made the most great movie I've evr saw!! I love it!!
Alanis can't do anything wrong! she is perfect and this song is perfect for the movie...Her voice is amazing, the feelings in her songs are unique to her personality... I loved the movie and was very pleasently surprise to hear her voice as I was exitign the theatre...it stopped me on my tracks! LOL
@Ossion I, like, stole them from am.info...being english not my first language...I can undestand english, but if English/American people were not able to get the lyrics, I give up! ^^

It is supposed to fit the movie perfectly ......THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I really like the song. It is very beautiful and fits the movie very much but the lyrics fit the movie a bit TOO much. I think the lyrics could have been better.
@toriphile1989 Yes, she never disappoints when it comes to movie soundtracks, from Uninvited for City of Angels to Wunderkind for Narnia, and now this new, amazing song... ^^
