  • If I ever become president, I want this song playing the day I'm sworn in.

  • @Arc13 Right with you man!! It´s was too underrated, and if people opened their minds a little bit, they would see how this FF was able to mix so many things, like humor, drama, love, action themes alongside with awesome sidequests, enjoyable characters and others FF references so brilliant...that it makes one of the top FF nowadays...no doubt about it

  • What if Queens "Bohemian Rhapsody" made itself into a videogame and became absolutely more badass than it is now?

    Ladies and Gentlemen. Dark Messenger.

  • @lookherejim xD its sounds more like "We will Rock you"

  • WELL NOW.

  • @Honatuto there, there.

  • @WhipLash42o well now well now well now

  • my favourite part is where gogeta goes super saiyan 4.

  • Fangirls: What a stupid game, it doesn't even have a sexy protagonist like final fantasy advent children and Leon from Kingdom hearts..

And thats why i hate fangirls with every cell in my body. Most of the time they dont know shit about gaming and just are here to act like their fucking anime girls.

It isnt funny, its stupid and annoying.

  • @mirrorpiece fanboys are just as bad, we get upset at the creators for "not staying true to original idea" even thought it's their creation. I don't like Final Fantasy 13 because the character you control is random, the party members you have are random in battle and not all of them can use potions until you unlock a certain event. Plus They turned summons, like Shiva, and Alexander into transformers. seriously, shiva turns into a motorcycle with her now sister. ^_^

  • @Shellgaja I guess I'm more of a fanboy then even though I am a girl x) I agree with you

  • @mirrorpiece no mention to the disgusting love to cats...

  • I seriously keep hearing other songs in this song. Bizarre.

  • @gunslingerfry What songs??

  • @Ocelot93 Put me on the spot why don't you :D

    0:20 We Will Rock You

1:03 (main theme) Something- I just don't recall what...

    2:20 Tyrano Lair

It also feels reminiscent of Carnival of the Animals: The Aquarium (Saint-Saens)

  • I don't care about technicalities. Trance Kuja was the main antagonist the entire game, and Necron didn't even show up until the last 10-15 minutes it took to kill him.

    Kuja was FFIX's final boss!

  • not as good as FF4 or FF6 but i would say 3rd best!

  • @McScreamo oh you like FF IV ? That's the only one besides FF I that I didn't finish because I hated it :/ Why do you think it's fun?

  • @MrAgnost why do YOU like FFIX? is it fun or something? seriously *facepalm*

  • @McScreamo Generally there are aspects that appeal to people more then others and vice versa, clearly that didn't come across implicitly with the question.

  • @MrAgnost just out of curiosity... why didn't you like FFIV?

  • i jog to this music.

  • Love the organ in the beginning!

  • If I have to see someone else say that 9 was underrated again, I will cast Ultima and destroy their life. It isn't. Gamerankings has it at number 1 when you search Final Fantasy and sort by highest rated.

  • This theme gives me chills, I love final fantasy music.

  • Beginning always reminded me of "We Will Rock You." First time I fought Trance Kuja, my buddy and I were like "Queen tribute?"

  • Really good song. I was hoping you would post Necron's battle song. That was a really good song for a epic size boss.

  • @ChiTsumai

Necron appears out of nowhere, isn't so much as foreshadowed prior to his appearance, and the plot could have gone with very little adjustment without him. Really, he's just another insignificant character.

  • We should all just love the FF series and stop the bickering and comparisons. Though in the defence of Sephiroth, he does have his reasons for destroying the earth. A quick glance through the story shows that. But my favorite villain is Seymour, so I'm in a minority :P

  • FFIX is imo the best FF game to date. The characters actually change throughout the story. They all make dramatic changes throughout the course of this game. The story is great, the music is amazing, and the graphics were awesome at the time as well. This game is extremely underrated considering that FFVII is way overrated. Even Kuja changed over the course of this game. How often does the villain change in games??? FFIX ftw! ^.^ <3

  • Kuja should have been the final boss. He was the main villain, there was no point in throwing in Necron.

  • Oh yeah, I totally love this, especially the main riff at 1:02! Essentially every track in this game is awesome. Might I suggest Freya's Theme and Black Mage Village.

  • Deep Purple must be or must have been a phenomenon beyond human comprehension in Japan at some point. This piece drips of Deep Purple influence.

Come to think of it, that's probably why it's one of my favorite pieces of music in any Final Fantasy game.

  • They were pretty popular in Japan, however the reason of this song's influence is that the composer is a huge fan of Deep Purple. :)

  • Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game in the series.

  • I've never played Final Fantasy before, but i love this soundtrack it's so awesome!!

  • Kuja is very underrated, as well as this game as a whole. One of the best FFs I feel, up there with VI and VII and because it's actually happy, and a little cartoonish it always gets bypassed and ignored.

Where's the FFIX love? Certainly one of the most beautiful themes and of course the music is some of the best in the series, melodies are a major theme to the game as a whole!

  • Agreed - this is my favorite in the series, closely followed by X. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said there.

Kuja really is one of the best villains of all time - way better than losers like Sephiroth (meh, also twisted bad guy but wayyyyyy overrated) and Kefka (IMO really vapid - no real motivation beyond being "really evil"). Kuja's motivations, his actions, his characteristics feel much more authentic because they make sense, as opposed to just "LOL BLOW UP TEH WORLDZ."

  • Eh, Sephiroth is overrated but Kefka isn't lacking in reason.

His reasons are that he's driven mad by his own "realizations" that there isn't any point to life, all things share only the fate of death so he's just pushing the world to it sooner. His enjoyment of it comes from the fact he believes he's being a good boy to the planet helping it out like when you help mom with groceries. He has a twisted sense of reality, as do all the villains(including Kuja). That's what makesd him just as good.

  • @Arc13 You said it. FF9 FTW!

  • @Arc13 sorry but 9 isn't underrated. 7 and 9 are the most rated. if you want to talk about underrated then lets talk FF1.

  • @lionheartweapon I'm talking the ones people know. If we REALLY want to get into underrated let's bring up FF1, 2, & 6. 1 should be self explanatory as the original. 2 may have had god awful gameplay but really was the first video game ever to have a plot & thus 70% of stories that exist all got their sources from 2. 6? Oh god, 6 is an utter masterpiece and while the internet will show a lot of love for it, most people seem to actually overlook the arguable best entry in the series. We good now?

  • @Arc13 I have to agree. FF6 (FF3 in the US) was my favorite rpg hands down.

  • @lionheartweapon Also, I do have to say 9 isn't one of the most highly rated in the series. It'd probably be the 4th most highly rated, 3rd being #4, 2nd being FFX, and yes everyone knows FF7 is rated #1. OK, so it is one of the most highly rated although honestly, when I typed the comment originally, things were different and FFIX didn't have as much praise. I guess adding it to the PSN made a difference for it? Now if only the whole series was up there...

  • @Arc13 Haters are gonna hate. FF9 was the best of the PS era and my favorite FF ever.

  • @Arc13 amen man, the cartoonish appearance turns so many away, but if you stick with it you honestly learn to see how amazing the game is

  • @Arc13 To be honest I thought FFIX was often very melancholic. It is my favorite FF, by far. Kuja was indeed one of the coolest/strongest enemies in FF history. Wish I could play it again. :(

  • @Thundermaned As far as I can tell, Kuja had a purpose to destroy everything other than just because he was evil. his creator told him that he was... sh*!^ what did he tell him? anyway, all I remember is that Kuja got tired of running around doing things for Garland (heh FF1 reference) and his lifespan was running out, so he said F$*# it and headed for the crystal thing (it's been awhile since I played it, lol!!!)

  • @Arc13 The 3rd CD lacks of story

  • @Arc13 vayne(ff12) is underrated too lol

  • @julianannon Personally I don't go for XII. In most any way or form. I've forgotten everything about Vayne. At least when I had typed the comment logn before IX became known and respected I could still maintain a good bit of knowledge of Kuja(though I had forgotten a good amount, I said he was underrated not necessarily the best)but Vayne? Not a clue. I beat the game and forgot one of the better parts. I remember most of the rest because it was awful for me. Not my cup of tea.

  • @Arc13 FFIXX is a great game bar a few flaws (useless summons), but its ending let the game down badly. Beat Kuja and then have to fight a completely random boss who was never mentioned before. Also the last cutscene was pretty obivous and a let down. Still love it mind.

  • @TheVargr Agreed, ending kind of weirded me out when I had to fight that...thing...still dont remember exactly what it was. They couldve done something better there...Castlvania lords of shadow did the same thing and pulled it off flawlessly. But then again...they had Patrick Stewart.

  • @TheVargr The final boss was death. Y'know, what with all the huge themes about life, and all that. It was kind of random, as was much of the last third of the game, but not as much as you're all making it out to be.

  • @Arc13 anyone who knows anything knows FF9 is as good, if not better, than ff7 and 6

  • @YourePrettyGoood Erm...well, I'd agree if the game's good points were all there were to the game. But as I remember it, the character designs, not all of them were quite as good, not to mention a ton of background elements not holding up as fond memories quite as well. A good number of the cast is more of background fodder rather than contributing, the final boss is unnecessary, and a good portion of discs 2 and 3 are padding.

IX is great, 3rd fav, but better than VI & VII?

  • @Arc13 I don't want to sound like I'm insulting IX, since I love it a lot, but a truly amazing game is going to be remembered, keep you engaged the whole way through, etc. VI & VII did these, even if they didn't hit quite as emotional high peaks as IX did, wheras IX was a series of hits and misses. The hits were perfect, and some of the best moments in gaming. The misses people seem to glaze over, even though they were a lot. I'd rank VI & VII higher, though IX is close behind.

  • Yes! I have been waiting for forever for this one! This song just made the ending of the game for me, and brought together the madness and power of Kuja.

  • It amazes me how long it's taken to get to some of these songs, but glad to see them finally make it.

  • One of my favorite FF songs PERIOD. Especially since my late fiancee loved this song too, so it's a little personal for me.

  • What happened to her/him?

  • Cuh-lassic!

  • My appreciation for this one came back when I played Dissidia!

  • O man I totally remember this track now, awesome!

  • ffIX and ffXII for the win.

my favorite track from FFIX is the iifa tree theme, personally, but this one is fantastic, too.

  • good song choice

  • Good ol' Kuja.

    What an epic battle.

  • I have played ever single Final Fantasy in the series (except for II and XI), and the best game in the series, to me, will always be VI. A true classic of the series. However, a very close second is probably IX, then followed by X. Both had very emotional stories that tugged my heartstrings by the end of the game. I love all three of them.

  • IX is my personal favorite. Great game. They all are, it's all opinion though. I'm not too big a fan of VIII but I know it's a good game.

  • Yay!! The music in this game is one of the best of all FF games. But that's just my opinion.

  • man I love this song but kuja was hard

  • The best song in ff ix is hunter's chance

  • Awesome!?

  • sad face. IX is so good

  • Sorry to hear that. I really enjoyed Final Fantasy IX myself. XII not so much. I'm hoping that Final Fantasy XIII will redeem the series for me.

  • I strongly disagree but it is your opinion.

FFIX is my favorite of the series and one of my favorite games of all time.

  • Nyaaah, I really want Final Fantasy IX. ;^;

  • We Will We Wil Rock you!

  • hahahaha just read that at the start of the song and I was like wtfff hes right XDDDDDD

  • One of the greatest boss themes ever, from my favorite game of all time. Good choice :)

  • Wait, somebody should start a list called "Best VGBB (Video Game Boss Battles)", and include this as the first one. Others to follow would be Psycho Mantis, Cybil Bennett, and some Panzer Dragoon bosses. Pure awesomeness, like this song.

  • perfection

  • ah, one of my favourite songs from my alltime favourite game =) Nice Choice Darky! I'm already looking forward to the next Final Fantasy entry in your list ;)

  • An excellent choice

  • Heh when I hear that song I'm always thinking Tyrano Lair for some reason.

  • Yep, especially with that same kind of break at 2:14 while the rest is a rocking tune.

  • @Delarius86

Holy crap, you're right. Never noticed that. It makes more sense because Tyrano Lair was one of the tracks Uematsu contributed, not Mitsuda, if memory serves...

Also: Inclusion of organ+drums makes this the best...intro...ever.

  • I'm in love.

  • I honestly think this is one of the best "penultimate fight" songs in all of Final Fantasy. Not only is it an awesome remix of a great villain theme, it also pumps you up for battle at the start with drums reminiscent of "We Will Rock You."

Once again, another awesome find, Darky!
