Any homeless veteran who is disabled or injured as a result of their honorable service to this country can now hire his / her own attorney and SUE the US Government in Federal District Court. Please see the Web site for Veterans For Constitutional Law, Ltd. and READ ABOUT YOUR RIGHTS. Have your attorney contact us and we will brief him on how to proceed.
@ciphoenix That may be true, but it is well known that veterans make up over 1/3 of the total homeless population. In Nashville area alone since I have lived here, several thousand homeless veterans have lived on the street, in spite of the fact there are several organizations including Operation Stand Down trying to help them. Just because there are laws on the books does not in any way mean that there is not a significant homeless veteran problem that is not being adequately addressed.
I am a Disabled Veteran of OIF/OEF and the Global War on Terror. I was discharged over 30 months ago due to injuries sustained in an accident. I have yet to receive my benefits, or even an explanation as to why I have been denied. I work less than 20 hours a week, suffer from severe sleep depravation/insomnia and get treated like a second class citizen. I'm lucky enough to have parents who can afford to take me, and my fiance who supports me, in.
@GIJew22913 Ab=nd? You want that your goverment take care for you? You are army man, killer with license. Go kill some more people. It is easy, just pull the trigger... Iraq, and Afghan are no people, they are ENEMY. Go and kill some more. You will be rewarded.
@GIJew22913 Ask G. W. Bush to help you. Guy invented "war on terror" that you fight. In Iraq you killed their citizens and now you want to be payed for that. To be payed for killings? Ok, come to me, I will pay you. With bullet. And you was payed like all hired guns that are in your army. Do you want more money?
@Santor6 W. ain't the one I would be asking. Congress authorized the troop deployment. Learn the way the political system here works first, hoss. I want to be paid not for the time spent overseas, but for the loss of work and opportunity for work since the injury. As for "paying" me "[w]ith bullet," seems to me you're making a threat. Careful sunshine. Besides, you and all your hajji buddies couldn't hit the broad side of a carrier much less a man at 800 yards. Go screw a camel, dipstick.
@GIJew22913 Ok, you just prove what I want to say> You are army killer that just want to work, after ypur bloody job. And you did not get enogh blood. You want to go and kill me. For what? That I call you hired killer (that you are), and hate you. I hate you redneck!
@Santor6 Son, I never said I wanted to kill you. And go ahead and hate me. Hate me all you want. Just know that when you close your eyes and night to sleep, there is always someone watching. Waiting. Fear the night. Fear the darkness. That's where we wait. I'll let you hate, because at the end, that's all you have. Coward.
@GIJew22913 I hope that in your dreams are all people that you are killed when you are Proud American Soldier. Who fight for freedom of OIL. Nice dreams.
... who have given soooooo much for my freedom. I don't have much to offer, but I can make sure she has 3 meals a day, a bed to sleep in ... someplace she can call home for however long she needs it. I will try to help her with whatever she needs. Again - not to make myself look good, but it's the right thing to do, the PATRIOTIC thing to do. I challenge anyone else who reads this post to do the same. Imagine if each of us took in just one Vet and/or their family. God Bless!
This is terrible. I had no idea there were so many, much less that there are homeless women veterans. It brings me to tears thinking of these men and women who have served our country for countless years and sacrifices, some totally unimaginable, and this is how they get repayed???? After seeing this, and as a single mother, I promise right here and now, to take in a female veteran for however long she needs it. This is not to make myself look good, but to help the ones ... see next post .
Thank you for your kind response. What a lot of Americans don't realize is that many homeless veterans, as well as other homeless people, suffer from severe sleep deprivation, which makes it very difficult to hold down a steady job, even if they can find one. YouTube doesn't allow links, but you can Google these two organizations for more invormation about homeless veterans:
Women homeless veterans have it particularly hard because most the word "veteran" to most Americans automatically creates a mental male image, thus homeless female veterans remain particularly invisible.
Right again. When I go to VA Hospital (another insult), I get a lot of stares, even from other vets, because I wear a cap that says "Marine Veteran". t hasn't been that long since VA even had facilities to treat us (ccoties!! A vet GIRL!!!!).
I am hoping the new Sec. of Vet Affairs Shinseki will change things around. If I ever figure out how to get his email, he is going to get a real awakening. And I mean that in a nice way, not in a Marine way.
I'm a woman who served in USMC during (but not IN) the VietNam era. If I told you how we get treated when we fall on hard times (become disabled, lose jobs, etc.), you would think I was talking about communists. They always find a way to "lose" your paperwork or deny your claim.
I agree. I've been in the Skid Row area in Los Angeles and homeless veterans are there, I've seen them standing in bread lines in Phoenix, Denver, Prescott, Nashville. They've been there since the Reagan era and those who promulgated the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan sure as hell haven't done anything but made their situation worse. Support the troops my ass!
@richardaberdeen Support army killers. God bless you. That people are send by YOUR VOTED goverment to kill and destroy. And now you want to reward that? Are you christian? Jew? Are you know what are sin? Or you want just your car tank full of gassoline?
@Santor6 I'm a pacifist, so I have no idea why you are blaming me for what our government does. I did not vote for George Bush and I did not vote for Obama and, neither will I vote for anybody who has supported the wars in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
@richardaberdeen Richard, I dont ewant to argue with you. You cose ar noble, but in wrong direction. That army people are signed to kill and destroy. And you want to help them? They are sinners. They arent p4triots. Nobody attacked ypour land. But THEY agreed to attack (and kill if must) others. And more interesting. No one that I ask voted for G.W BUSH. All americans voted for others. Tell me then, why he ruled 8 years?
@Santor6 The last time I checked, Jesus thought we should help sinners, not condemn them. I suppose you're not a sinner and thus, you can sit up on some self-righteous pedastal and condemn the rest of us who are.
@richardaberdeen Do yuo think that Jesus are idiot? That Jesus allow killing to forgive? If YOUR Jesus existr, he is a mafia boss. I do not need pedastal. If you killed peple. youi are killer. It isa simple. Do you want to call Jesus to approve you? Can you?
@richardaberdeen I assume that homeless veterans are sinners and, other homeless people are also sinners. Just as I assume presidents, lawyers, bankers, scientists and wealthy capitalists, as well as you, are sinners. The reason I assume this is because I know I myself am a sinner and, have never met anyone who has ever convinced me they are not a sinner. So what is your point? Should we just slap Adolf Hitler and crooked bankers on the back and say, go ahead, make our day?
@Santor6 You seem to have a very twisted sense of reality. A homeless veteran is a human being, the same as any other human being without a home. The reasons why people become soldiers, like the reasons why people become lawyers, carpenters and truck drivers, are complex and have a lot to do with economic opportunity and survival necessity. Your position assumes we are born in a totally equal environment and all have the same opportunities and abilities; you remind me of rightwing Republicans
