When I saw these guys, they opened for John Mayall at Stanford University, and they blew all of us out... to the point that Mayall wa a major disappointment. Such great musicians with uncommon style, skill, and taste. And I'm speaking as a musician. I picked up the guitar solo from Riding Free in the 70's... I still think it's a classic
Anybody know who piano player is? I think I saw them in 1971 touring with maybe Joe Cocker but not sure. Later on they became a always on the turntable for me. Wish there was more on line from One From The Heart. I went on Amazon just a little while ago and it not there.
Jon Mark, (Burchell) . Please come back to USA and produce a new band with young talent. Seattle is a great jazz city now. You can find and guide talent in the City of Seattle. Cultivate the next young Johnny Almond, the next Euro-funky Wolfgang Melz, et al.
Jazz should always be played live. Thank you for uploading this. It's a rare gem. I was a Mark-Almond fan for years, and never heard of this album. You may have the only copy in existence.
Love this band (when they're on their game; when they're off, they really really really stink)-- I didn't knew they had a live album. I also keep their vinyl around, though it's no longer even playable...
This tune is from "the Marc/Almond 'Band Best of live' " LP (pacific arts PAC7-142)..from 1981...I have not been able to find any mention of it anywhere on the web... but I do have the Vinyl disc of it ..
Out of the 1000 or more vinyl records I have parted with over the years ...this one I will keep forever...
