  • how did you make the cyclone thing

  • just stumbled on to you great work sir I like the idea of building one better than giving Oneida all my money to get the same effect thank you for sharing your know how with us

  • man I miss working in my hs woodshop. you have some cool ideas like my old shop instructor. I must say though, 1-1/4 hose size shop vacs aren't really good for heavy duty work. I prefer the 2-1/2 because they aren't as easy to clog.

  • Thats nice work. I'm afraid I'm going to have to try and make one. I hope it turns out as well as yours did. Wood bucket instead of 5 gal. Palstic. Maybe. I better just try to make the cyclone part first. Wish me luck and thank you for the video. (Tom)

  • Great idea, I am going to pinch your idea for my English workshop. Many thanks Ron.

    Cheers - Barry

  • would a bigger one be better or worse?

  • @skrumbah I'm no Ron Walters, but as far as I understand, the cyclone's rotational velocity is what separates the larger material. The finer the material, the faster the cyclonic action you need. When moving air with a fixed amount of power, moving a larger volume means lower velocity, which might not get you as good a result. Optimizing would require a fair amount of knowledge of the fluid dynamics of cyclones and the amount of air that your specific Shop Vac can move.

  • I like it!
