I have a hp dv7-1245dx. When i push power button, it lights up the fan comes on for about 2 sec, then goes off, n black screen. I took out rams n hard drive n put back, still nothing. The keys don't work to wake it up. I can't even play disc or get to bios. Is there anyway to restart the computer from a full shut down? When i hold the power button, it shuts off, but when i press again, it comes back to the same thing. I just need to get the screen back on. It seems sleep n won't wake up.
@samhuang1999 Yea a lot of people are telling me it's the processor. It's no power going to the screen or key board. I'm going to get a processor. My computer don't cut off. I disconnect everything n put it back, n nothing.
help! i built mine myself and it booted up but i didnt have any usb wires pluged in from the case to the motherboard. i dont know whether it is the power lead i use because i only used it as a test before i bought one. anyway after i tested it i switched it off and plugged them into the motherboard. i thought it might have been wrong so i unpluged it from the motherboard and when i went to retest it, it wont work. does the wrong cables have something to do with it or is it my power supply
hi i have a problem...when i put the ati radeon x1650 pro agp 8x in agp slot and im plug the 4 pin molex to the card and after that when i push the power on the fan spin 1 sec and nothing happen..wont turn on again..and when i unplug the 4 pin molex to the card and push the power on it works...my psu is HEC RAPTER II 500w ATX PSU this my psu is my new buy...
Recently after playing battlefield 3 on ultra graphics for a few hours my computer shut down, My first thought was that my cpu had over heated but when I tried to power the system back on it would'nt start, there was no power going to the system at all no fans spinning ect. What could have caused this?
System spec:
Amd phenom II x6 1090T 3.5Ghz
Ati 6970 HD 2GB ( Installed. same day as the problem started!)
The power switch? Really? I have repaired dozens of power supplies and never had to replace a power switch. The FIRST thing to check for this symptom is the CMOS battery. When the PC is OFF it uses energy from the battery to get things going.
I turned my comupter off then in 5 minutes time i turned it back on again, it starts to boot up for 2-4 seconds AS i put the power plug in but then it just goes off, i can see through my case that the motherboard light (the power button on my mother board) is still alight but when i press that or the acuall power button on my comupter nothing happens; but yet if i unplug my computer and wait 2 mins then do it again it just does the same HELP!
@Arthur5141 depends on where you shop and what kind of laptop you have,my laptop motherboard...im pretty sure.. is fried, but no signs, but i have a acer aspire 5517 and i got on ebay and there prices ranged anywhere from 100 dollars to 160 or 170, like i said, depends on were you shop..
I've been having a start up issue for over 2 years now. As long as my computer is on, its fine.. if i restart it, its fine, but if i shut it down, it won't turn on. right away. All my lights light up, light on mother board, ethernet light, power button light, but nothing starts, no fans, no hard drive.. nothing. I keep trying and trying, and eventually it starts up like nothing was wrong. I recently learned that if i unplug it, hold the button, then plug it in, it will boot up fine.
I have an HP m8530f, had it a couple years now from BB. Lately its been freezing and bsod. Tonight it froze.. I powered down... then hit the button to turn on. I can see the light... but nothing on the the monitor... I shut off/on the monitor..it reads "no signal input."... again the pc light turns on.. but no signal to the monitor. What would cause this?? thanks.
I was playing the sims 2 games right? well idk i was downloading all the sims 2 games i was finally donee :) right? well i was playing and all but then it crashed the screen was black black but it was abit black like covering from seeing the screen like when you turn it on its like that black well that black didnt go away until after a few seconds of taking out the battery. @MerlinProductionzzz It might be your ram's problem. Try taking it out, then clean it. After that, Put it back on and start it up. Monitor issues mostly occurs on rams...

this is my story: i was using my computer, windows vista gateway, you know i was going on facebook talking to people. but i when i got bored i turned it off while the internet explorer web page was running. so i left it there untill it turned off.two to three hours later i went to go turn it on and nothing. Nothing!.... no power light, no fan running, no power at all like if it was dead! knocked out. i tried everything, unblugging it and plugging back on. help what should i do?!
My mother board is working when I push the button but all the external plugins like the monitor and keyboard aren't turning on....they do work on other computers so everything works well....but why is it that they don't get a signal from the mother board when it is on
hey bro i had vista and sleep mode worked perfect...now i upgraded to 7, 64bit when i go to sleep mode and resume the pc.....it starts up but nothing goes on display...so the only way to reboot is to shut it off through the power button which somtimes i have to press like 10 times...help?
Helpful video. This issue just happened to me. I went out and bought a new PSU (what better excuse to upgrade =P) and that didn't do much. But I will try your tips. Thanks for the vid.
Dang. Wish I saw this vid a couple of weeks ago before I lent the non functioning computer to a bonehead to fix, and who never returned it. Now i know why.
my problem is when i turn on my pc, the psu fan, heat sink fan and casing fan are working, there is a light in motherboard, a red light press the power button but it's only blank screen, i don't know what's the problem, i already check everything, pls help....
When I was building my PC I intended to use my brother's motherboard. What I did was a Motherboard 'POST' test. So I had the motherboard out on a cardboard box with CPU+Heatsink, Graphics Card, Ram,Powersupply and Monitor connected. Then I jumped the 2 pin PowerConnector on the motherboard front header with a screw driver. Then I had exactly the same problem as you mentioned with fans running and motherboard LED on but the monitor screen being blank
I took out the graphics card and jumped the power connector again to see if the motherboard bios would detect lack of graphics card and beep but nothing happened. Then I took out the RAM and repeated the same method but nothing happened.
I then took out the CMOS battery for about 1 minute to reset the bios and place the CMOS battery back again in the motherboard. I then placed graphics card and ram again and jumped the powerconnector but again nothing happened.
By this time I was pretty sure that the Motherboard was 'DEAD' as all my other parts including powersupply were brand new. So I bought a brand new motherboard and repeated the POST test and it worked absolutely fine. The screen turned on and the POST screen was displayed.
So johndinky I think most probably your motherboard is 'dead'. Also is your powersupply in good shape. If not, then that could also the reason for the fault. I hope my experience has been of help to you.
I did the same things you said up to the point of restarting using metallic pin. Nothing happened. It did not even start both fans on PS and CPU. Replace motherboard. Fans are running but PC wont start... The next step, replaced the CPU. It did not start it. Will it be the memory?
heres something, on mine i took it apart, it there someting suspose to be touching the power button? i didnt see anything, then agian, when i push my button sometimes my keyboard buttons light up, then stops, but... not my mouse light, idk if thats any help, but message me for any ideas yea you thanks.
my pc dosent whant to start up it when i press the power button it starts up but on the monitor its nothing everithyng is blank black screen not any bios not nothing and i know its not the monitor or the graphic card becuse i have new monitor and new graphic card the monitor is samsung syncmaster t220hd with tv tuner and tv works and the graphic card is nvidia geforce fx 5500 new
i'm working on a hp that makes a loud beeping noise when you try turning it on. when you try turning it off it just keeps beeping. also its not booting up. any thoughts? thanks!
i just bought a new graphic card and new power supply, after i installed it all, i have to press the power button a few times before it turns on and when it finally turns on(Fans on, led's on) the monitor does not respond!!!! The monitor is on but the monitor DOES NOT SHOW ANYTHING!!
Help PLease, its left me scratching my head all day and night
I find it safer to remove the black lead and red lead from the power switch on the case and short those leads together, rather than mess with the motherboard terminal. I shorted the black and red leads together and the computer started. The problem was with the switch.
I took a pc that had a loose heat sink to best buy, simply because it was under warrenty, i caused the problem and knew how to solve it, and it was free. They said my motherboard would have to be replaced, i should consider a new pc. I acted to browse around, then ask if they checked the cpu.. "yeah we did, but no luck" I ask if i should just buy a new motherboard "It might be cheaper to buy a new setup, motherboards are real tricky to shop for and install" they say. I took my pc and left.
Look up the make of your motherboard, find the beep codes.. Is it a looong beep or short? Could be loose ram, have you messed in the bios? You could try resetting the cmos? Keyboard and mouse plugged in? Graphics card burnt out? It could be alot of things, something simple or major.
Hmmm.. My PC turns on... the fans fun but I have to manually spin the power supply fan.. as soon as I get that going the moniter flickers a white frame about every five seconds :(
i found a dell 170l 2.8 in a ditch 2 feet under water... been out there 2 to 3 weeks/
after a few hours cleaning... the power switch was not working right so i cleaned it with a spary... now i have no issues with it. there was mud in the damn CPU... looked like shit!
I've just built a computer and it all works but for some reason it doesn't start up some times. So every time I have to open it to check everythings plug in even tough it is.
I think that the power switches are set wrong in the motherboard. When I turn of the computer it restarts again. When I go in sleeping mode it shuts of. lol.
i have a similar problem. but my comp will "turn on" but it just stays in the phase where it is booting up (fan running and such) but nothing ever comes on the monitor, AND i never hear the "BEEP" had it repaired like 3 times, and motherboard and powersuply just got replaced a few months ago. any ideas?
mine the same it take 2 attempts to boot up when i click on button the fans work but no bleep when i press the button it switches off then when i press it again it boots up and bleeps...
My computer dont power on, i only change my hard drive and then when i connected the hard drive and i press the power button the pc dont turn on, i changed my power supply the an old one and the problem still...help!!!!
If you turn on the pc and everything turn on and the system dont boot , check if your ram memories are correctly connected or your video card is not working or the processor.
Here's the thing - i changed my power supply that worked before and changed my old m.board that worked before + cpu and ram. Thing is that mother board shows power led is on and green so it's all fine with m.board and power supply. i tryed to pin power connectors but nothing, could it be that this happens becouse of hdd led not working or something? Thanks!
before my pc is just hang at no reasons at all... then suddenly it didn't work like there's no showing on my monitor, but i can hear my pc is runnnig but nothing showing on my monitor? ... please help!!
Just disconnect the PSU jumper the power good lead green I think om the mother board connector and the PSU should start if not plug the HD in then try again if nothing check everything is turned on (like power bar ) or PSU switch like you said if nothing check the mother board for burnt components first if none then and only then swap PSU's cause if you don't you can fry your spare PSU bad thing to do ! note: the PSU I had worked with no load and just jumper ps-on not all PSU's can do this !
i have a problem help my pc was working perfect bu the other day ay plug mi phone in to load stuff an i got a ms that sed divice exides power limit and then frose y manualy tun my pc of and on and all i got was my fans were runing nothing else it wont star what can i do????????? plese help
Everything is good about my PC, but when i boot up it does not show anything on the monitor and starts beeping very hard after 10 seconds orso. Could this be the RAM? Please help PCmedianet!
yes...either that(the RAM)the powersupply, or the motherboard, when we were testing Computers at school, the computer would beep and not show video, but after we changed the PSU, then it worked
ok well what happened with me is i was on my pc nd it crashed for 5 mins and wouldn't even restart. in the end i turned off the switch. the next day when i tried to turn it on the here the fan (i tink it is the fan) spin round but there is nothing on the screen. i no the monitor works because i tried it on my other pc. could it be my hardrive?
by the way.... u forgot about cheking the memory modules... and it could be the cpu overheated and burned.... this are 2 major cases to when u're pc isnt booting....
reset the motherboard and sorry i haven't responded back in a while

Helpful video. This issue just happened to me. I went out and bought a new PSU (what better excuse to upgrade =P) and that didn't do much. But I will try your tips. Thanks for the vid.

@johndinky
Hi
When I was building my PC I intended to use my brother's motherboard. What I did was a Motherboard 'POST' test. So I had the motherboard out on a cardboard box with CPU+Heatsink, Graphics Card, Ram,Powersupply and Monitor connected. Then I jumped the 2 pin PowerConnector on the motherboard front header with a screw driver. Then I had exactly the same problem as you mentioned with fans running and motherboard LED on but the monitor screen being blank
gogeta20 1 year ago
@johndinky
I then placed graphics card and ram again and jumped the powerconnector but again nothing happened.
gogeta20 1 year ago
@johndinky

I took my pc and left.

help my pc turns on but it doesnt display anything and makes a loud beep help pls
adsc19876 2 years ago
Look up the make of your motherboard, find the beep codes.. Is it a looong beep or short? Could be loose ram, have you messed in the bios? You could try resetting the cmos? Keyboard and mouse plugged in? Graphics card burnt out? It could be alot of things, something simple or major.

fixed it now its to late :P

I've just built a computer and it all works but for some reason it doesn't start up some times. So every time I have to open it to check everythings plug in even tough it is.
I think that the power switches are set wrong in the motherboard. When I turn of the computer it restarts again. When I go in sleeping mode it shuts of. lol.
mamman93 2 years ago
Power switch cables are faulty. The switch was not designed properly. Look into getting a new starter switch. =]
tylermoore 2 years ago
Don't worry I figured it out a long time ago. :)
The power LED switches was in wrong places, I checked the motherboard manual.

If you turn on the pc and everything turn on and the system dont boot , check if your ram memories are correctly connected or your video card is not working or the processor.

Just disconnect the PSU jumper the power good lead green I think om the mother board connector and the PSU should start if not plug the HD in then try again if nothing check everything is turned on (like power bar ) or PSU switch like you said if nothing check the mother board for burnt components first if none then and only then swap PSU's cause if you don't you can fry your spare PSU bad thing to do ! note: the PSU I had worked with no load and just jumper ps-on not all PSU's can do this !

yes...either that(the RAM)the powersupply, or the motherboard, when we were testing Computers at school, the computer would beep and not show video, but after we changed the PSU, then it worked
