Oh the Repugs DID implement "health care reform". It was called the Medicare Reform Act of 2003. It was a wonderful piece of legislation, for big pharma anyway. Among other issues, the law prevents Medicare from price shopping for prescription prices.

Interesting that John McCain's best lawyers investigated Obama during the election and after careful examination of the evidence decided that A) There was no evidence Obama's docs were false, and B) Obama was indeed a US citizen. But lets talk about it ad nauseum anyway. Maybe it will distract people from GOP attempts to scuttle health care reform, or their heel dragging on Sotomayor confirmation, or the multiple scandals going on via C-street, etc.

Heres what we say: Torte reform will bring down costs significantly and eliminate the cover your ass tests and treatments. Our brightest don't want to be doctors because of the risks. Make the medical profession safe and noble again and you'll get more doctors, cheaper drugs and cheaper coverage. We need more doctors and fewer lawyers. Deport the 20 million illegal aliens getting free healthcare and educations. Socializing medical care wont fix it. Just look at Medicare waste/abuses.

Obama wants to create a public option, which the Republicans should be behind considering it's the essence of capitalism. If a cheaper public option is available, insurance companies will be forced to reduce fees for those customers they retain in a new competitive environment. That is capitalism. But people are fight against it because their pockets are being lined by big business.
Again, never let it be said that Republicans know how to run a government.

Yes they are trying to move the media away from health care and onto a local news story about a man arrested for disorderly conduct. Who cares? I don't give a damn. I want health care for my parents and in the future after college. Racial issues are boring and it's sad or whatever. I wasn't there I don't know. The GOP sucks at everything. That may be a fair point, but if the government doesn't help who will? The private industry wont and the wealthy (celebrities, charities) can/will only do so much. Even if Obama didn't really care about the people whom need this reform, if he has a golden opportunnity to possibly help the economy through health reform (no body can pay bills, doctors not being paid, doctors support less people, endless cycle) then he should do it.

Right now the government cant help. The Government doesnt have the money (unless they conjure it up out of thin air) around to give people free health care.
We cant, as a nation, make nearly nothing and get almost everything for free. Those days are over. If America is going to take care of its people, Americans must get to work making things. Something we dont do very well right now.

That may be a perfectly fine arguement, but there is still an issue with people not having the means to pay health insurance/bills which causes further economic issues with the health industry, (Insurance not getting paid, insurance companies/doctors deny more people because of lack of money). Should there have been less birth in the first place to create people that couldn't be supported? Sure, but these people are here, doing nothing is not an option, and only so many jobs can be made.

all i am going to say to that is that you are a deluded person. lets see. i was recently diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer. my insurance co cancelled me immediatly stating a pre existing condition. the average cost for the courses of treatment for this type of cancer is about $140,000 can you afford to pay that out of pocket???

aquamadman, your whole premise is wrong. You don't have a right to healthcare because you are dependent on someone else to give it to you. Nobody has to be a doctor. Nobody had to invent a treatment for cancer. What you want is the right to tell other people what to do? What about those people rights? You can believe that healthcare should be a government service but you won't get what you want u will get what the government gives u or what it provides and that might not be what u need.

The thing is, is that there IS racial profiling in this country and as a white male I know this is true. Is the officer a racist? I dont know. Would this officer have questioned this man had he been white? I seriously doubt it. Obama stated at the begining of his answer that he is a close and personal friend with gates, and as a result he said he would be biased and may not answer the way people like. so what then is the issue and how is this more important that our joke of a healthcare system??

Oh the Repugs DID implement "health care reform". It was called the Medicare Reform Act of 2003. It was a wonderful piece of legislation, for big pharma anyway. Among other issues, the law prevents Medicare from price shopping for prescription prices.

I think they are only reaching a section of the right. They are turning off the rest of the righ, middle and left. Plus, in my opinion these do have a small influence on voting.
The Republicans have alienated America. There are 60 Dem Senators and 256 (of 435) Representatives. Obama will probably serve 2 terms. So, even with losses that are sure to come in two years the Dems have a strong hold on government. Every bit helps to ensure Dem power beyond eight years.

Another thing the GOP doesn't realize is that fixing healthcare, covering more people, means more JOBS. More jobs, means a better economy. A better economy, means better GDP.
This is why the government should save money in good times, making it good times, not GREAT BOOM times. Then, when things turn around, the government should spend money, by creating lots of jobs, so that it's OK times, instead of BAD BUST times.
We've had the BOOM-BUST, and look how that turned out.
