For example, if you had a debt to pay, and you could not pay it, than you could choose to work for someone for 7 years and repay the debt through labor. After the 7 years were up you could choose whether you wanted to be free or continue to serve the master you had worked for. Also, to be a slave trader of that time(one who would capture and sell people into slavery) was punishable by death in those days. It was alot different than what we think of slavery now.
I like how all the people on here are picking and choosing specific verses to villainize the bible as a whole. Many of you I'll bet actually HAVEN'T read the bible and are picking and choosing specific verses to try and vilainize it as a whole. Well, clearly, you don't read up on your history as well, so here's a crash course
First off, the issue of slavery: Yes, there were servants of Abraham and of many other people from the bible. However, at the time, slavery was a bit different than now.
Alright, I think it's time we got a dose of reality. I've got a little joke for those making all these cracks about,"number one sign you're not reading your bible is you're still a christian"; Number one sign you lack basic intellegence: If you look up videos you are in no way obligated to watch and post nasty comments of which you are in no way obligated to do because you don't agree with what someone says about a book with events you don't believe in.
I wonder why all you agnostics/atheists come in here actually "looking" for christian videos to bash. Don't you have a life? I mean, even when I didn't want to serve God and was away from God I still didn't bash other people for it. That's being lower than an animal.
People always use the "Stoning" verse as a way to refute Christianity but when was the last time you saw your Christian neighbor stoning their children or wives?
When? It's obvious that that's not we do. Find something worth refuting not one out of the top 10 atheist reasons for nor being a Christian.
@giovanone thankfully secular discourse and reasoned morality have made Christians think twice about following the more horrible things that are said in the bible. The fact remains the same though, the bible demands that you stone homosexuals to death and to kill disobedient children. It's not hard to get these "moral" teachings from reading the bible and you'd have a hard time telling people who wanted to follow these teachings that they're wrong from a biblical standpoint.
@Richy15251 The Bible does not demand anyone to stone Homo's or bad children you obviously have not thoroughly read the book. This was a method used in the old testament. It was a law to train past generations and in my opinion to instill fear of the consequences. Moral laws were established by God not through secular discourse if that was the case we would all be morally equal but we all know that humans follow their own morals and ethics according to their culture and society.
@DeMause I get the feeling you've never picked up a bible. Wait..you're going to say you were once training to be a minister and you were raise Christian but got tired of all the people being hypocrites.
@DeMause actually brainwashing is most effective in poor countries with lower standards of living and poor levels of education. Religiosity tends to correlate with levels of poverty and poor education.
@Richy15251 I'm 99% certain that Religiosity isn't a word but this is very true, because every organized religion's purpose it to 1 cause people with good intentions to do bad things 2 to create poverty that the UN has to then "fix" with chemically "enhanced" foods that cause disease, and 3 to make people blame the woes of organized religion on all religion so they will become atheist and will be more willing to accept the one world religion.
@d3ltadrive 1- There is zero evidence that GMO is at all harmful. We've been eating GMO for decades with no demonstrated side effects. It's because of people like you that millions of people needlessly die of starvation. There is also no proposed scientific mechanism that would cause them to be harmful, just ignorant whining.
2- atheists reject all religions. I'm no more willing to accept some amorphous "world religion" than christianity as per your conspiracy theory.
@Richy15251 Well since they started using GMO this society has become the most pathetic excuse for a civilization in all human history and we've had cancer, "AIDS", and other diseases on the rise since. And what I'm saying about the one world religion is that they will probably kill everyone who doesn't accept it so atheists would just accept it. On the third topic you learn something new every day I guess.
@d3ltadrive the number of pirates in the world has been steadily decreasing for the past thousand years. Also, the global average temperature has been increasing steadily. We can therefore conclude that global warming is caused by a decreasing number of pirates in the world. See the logical fallacy?
If I were forced to accept Islam or be killed, I'd accept Islam. I wouldn't actually mean it and I'd still think it's a load of crap. Moreover I'd help mount resistance to that kind of theocracy
@DeMause Well you said you went to a Catholic school, so unless it was the only school for 100 miles I'm going to assume your parents raised you as a pagan.
@PizzaDisguise I backed up what I said with the bible verse in my comment. do you deny such a passage exists? perhaps you havent been reading your bible enough?
I CANT SEE HOW ANYONE WOULD SAY THE BIBLE IS FALSE WHEN THE PROPHECIES ARE REVEALED CONSTANTLY. WHAT PPL FAIL TO REALIZE IS CHRISTIANITY ISNT A "STORY'...ITS A LIFESTYLE, I HAVE SEEN THE POWER OF THE WORD MANIFEST ITSELF IN MY LIFE. FROM NOW ON, DON'T JUST "READ" THE BIBLE, APPLY IT TO YOUR LIFE & HAVE FAITH, I PROMISE U WILL GET THE RESULTS YOU ARE SEEKING. I'VE SEEN GOD DO MIRACULOUS THINGS WITH MY HEALTH, WITH MY FINANCES, WITH MY MIND JUST BY APPLYING THE WORD. DONT MISS THE BLESSING!
@mahoganyunique Troll. I know you are trying to bait people into attacking your apparently crazy all caps rant but I suspect, very strongly, that you are actually am agnostic or atheist in disguise. Yes, I know, sometimes it is more fun to hunt wolves instead of sheep.
@vanRijn64...I'M NOT "TRYING" TO BAIT PPL TO READ ANYTHING...IF YOU ARE REPLYING TO ME, YOU ARE CHOOSING TO DO SO. SO THANKS. I'M SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE. THERE MAY BE SOMEONE OUT THERE WHO NEEDS TO HEAR MY TESTIMONY. JUST BECAUSE YOU CHOOSE TO BE ANGRY WITH SOMEONE YOU DONT EVEN KNOW. THAT'S PRETTY PITIFUL. YOU SHOULD CHANNEL YOUR ENERGY INTO SOMETHING MORE PRODUCTIVE, YOU'LL FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF. WHEN YOU ARE TRULY HAPPY, YOU DONT ATTACK PPL. IT DOESNT MIX. SEEK HELP! MUCH LOVE PUMPKIN!
@vanRijn64...AND CALLING NAMES IS SO SANDBOX. HOW OLD ARE YOU? MY MOTHER ALWAYS SAID WHEN SOMEONE IS IGNORANT, YOU DONT HAVE TO SAY MUCH OF ANYTHING, THEIR TRUE COLORS WILL EVENTUALLY SHOW....AND SHE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. IF YOU ARE GETTING THAT UPSET BECAUSE "MY CAPS" IS ON THAT YOU CANT SEE THE GIST OF MY MESSAGE, THEN YOUR ISSUE IS DEEPER THAN ME. I WILL PRAY FOR YOU EMOTIONAL STATE & JOY. YOU DESERVE TO SMILE DARLING! OKAY, I'M DONE. HAVE A GOOD DAY SWEETIE! =)
You're not reading bible enough if you're still worshiping God. I don't say believe, I just say worship, because you can be open minded to the possibility of christian God, but to worship this maniac you'he to be crazy (in a bad sense).
@Jeffersonwazright It also says he who has not sinned may not stone a sinner, and that God is the only one who has never sinned, and that God forgives those who have faith in him to forgive their sins. So basically the list of those who you shall stone is a list of people going to hell if they don't have faith in God to forgive their sins. We're all sinners.
@Richy15251 what makes you think that? Is it because you can't understand the blood atonement or is it the mandate to exterminate evil nations that gets you?
@SlaveOfCrist it's because your book demands that gay people should be killed, disobedient children should be stoned to death and women should be treated as property. It tells you that you should keep slaves, how you should treat your slaves and how hard you can beat them for disobeying you.
Th whole concept of vicarious redemption is immoral. I can forgive you for harming me, but I can't absolve you of your responsibility for hurting other people. Blood sacrifice still isn't moral.
@Richy15251 According to the NIV it is. The NIV also happens to be printed by the same company who prints the satanic bible and was commissioned by the same person who has fulfilled nearly every Antichrist prophecy except those further ahead on the prophetic timeline, and replaces the word Satan with Christ on multiple occasions. That NIV, sure is better then that non heretical KJV.
@Richy15251 That's if you interpreted it all literally and don't use the law of first mention, in which case you're an idiot. For example, a literal interpretation of John 10:1-11 would leave an idiot thinking Jesus was a door, a peace of wood with hinges on it, but a smart person would use the law of first mention to find that he is the door to heaven and that sin lies at the door but does not enter.
You can tell if your not reading your bible enough if you are still a christian.
Many atheists who were christian say that it was when they read the bible and researched the history of it, and the formation of their religion, they realised that it has nothing to do with god, and more to do with population control, power and influence.
@Andrewlohbihler wrote "Have you praised the guy who "smashes babies heads against rocks" lately? Check Psalms 137:8-9."
That's funny, because when I just looked up "Psalms" on wikipedia to see if it was old or new testament, it was instead listed under "Books of Wisdom". LOL
all people should read the whole Bible before being so opinionated about it.
I have done it and I say it's the Word of the Living God, who came to earth as JESUS Christ. Read it and see what you say. If you haven't, better to hold your peace.
Do all anti Christians watch these videos? Or just go from video to video just leave inaccurate, arrogant, and atheistic comments? If God doesn't seem real to you or you feel that He isn't the creator of all things. You're off to a good start by at least acknowledging Him.
Arrogance? So you don't feel that christians, (or any other religion for that matter) are not being arrogant when they say "The creator of the universe has a personal relationship with me, will protect me in life, and look after me after death, beause I believe in him.
I am special because I worship him in the RIGHT way, and all the other religions, and sects of my own religion, are WRONG and will be punished for their mistake."
its amazing on how you people will continually attack christians thats fine if you dont believe but does it make you feel better to attempt to demoralize someone who has true faith you people have cold hearts
@ranger082469 It's not about feeling better, but some of us atheists can be bitter about religion as we see it being used to exploit people. Think about how religion (not just christianity) is perverted: 9/11, bombing girls schools, fatwahs, honour rape, arranged marriages to minors, the suppression of women and homosexuals, burning witches, the crusades, the inquisiton. When people are certain that they are right, they don't have to think too hard about the righteousness of their actions.
@Airguitarist88 but see you do the same thing and you expect us to stand down from our beliefs but we cant its ok if we believe in god and its ok if you dont believe in god but dont go around telling us we cant show our religion off or attack us whenever possible we are called intolerant atheist can be placed in the same section because atheist cannot tolerate ideas of a supreme being just food for thought
@ranger082469 Then we are in agreement. I'm not lumping all believers together. I just hate it when people WONT DISCUSS IT. Secondly it's fine to show your religion, just don't make the state favour one over the other. My comment was supposed to explain that when people criticize religion it isn't out of pettiness, it's because they see religion as evil and those are reasons why. I disagree with them, but I get where they're coming from.
@ranger082469 Am I saying that religion is essentially evil? NO, and between you and me...atheists love Christmas. We love the food, the presents and quality time with the family, etc. And we can all agree that true believers should have their faith strengthened by atheists like myself questioning it, but sadly most of the time people just get angry when I doubt their faith.
for a group who dont believe in jesus or god they spend a lot of time with the bible and tryin to disprove the bible got kinda complex dont feel good about not believeing in god unless you spend all of ur time talking about there not being a god hmm
When God busts through my roof and throws a hard right hook into my jaw, I will believe in him
Until then, a book full of child stories and a brainwashed man with a microphone will not convince me of anything other than the delusion and insanity of christian people
Seriously I'm so glad Christians exist... it's the only buffer between intelligent, rational people and the continuing spread of Islam/ Sharia Law. I sincerely love you guys for more than this, but it's one reason to appreciate you. So take that as you will. Peace.
The top sign you aren't reading your bible enough is when you haven't quite become 100% atheist. Nothing like reading your bible to convert you to atheism.
@TiffanyCarey There's no such thing as "biblical proof". If you believe that the bible is true and god exists, then you are basing it on a leap of faith. None of this shit is proven which is why reasonable people don't believe in it.
If you want to break free of religious indoctrination, all you have to do is use science to help you better understand how this universe works, and realise that many passages in the bible contradict with one another and with reality.
@TheHigherVoltage morality. Remember, in your world, you can't invalidate God's moral law just because you disagree with it. God's law is equal with your law in your world. But with God, we all have a standard to live by that WORKS. I've followed the Lord for over 2 years, and I've lived a supernatural life. Jesus is extending His hand. He loves you, and longs to live with you. God bless you. :)
@TheHigherVoltage That can't be proven by just stating it, friend. I can reverse that and say that 2 hands clasped in prayer accomplish more than 1000 working. I know the works of prayer, and they are indeed miraculous. Open your eyes, my friend. Jesus loves you. :)
Got any evidence to share? That I could verify that prayers have any effect on an outcome?
I am curious though...in the bible, Jesus flat-out promises superpowers to ALL who are baptized and believe -- including laying on hands. And that ALL prayers would be magically answered. Not "biblegod will think about it" but ALL prayers are answered.
So what gives? Why don't we have "Christian healing centers" instead of medical schools and hospitals?
@TheHigherVoltage All prayers are answered if we ask in HIS name. That means that we must have the right attitude about it, and ask for His glory. Jesus also promised suffering, tribulation, persecution, martyrdom, etc. The Christian life isn't a problem free life, but there will be a day when we are rid of evil. And yes, I have evidence! I'm a miracle! Miracles happen! My teacher in 7th grade almost had a heart attack, and they prayed for him, and as they prayed, his face slowly started
@TheHigherVoltage regaining color! So many parents that can't have children pray to God for children, and end up having them! People with cancer that are given death dates with no hope in the future pray, and the cancer miraculously vanishes! People overcoming addictions through prayers, healing of the sick, all kinds of things! God bless :)
@Addy4473 uh dude...that's not evidence of prayer working. Pray or not pray, nature will do what it does. Kids or not, cancer or not, addictions or not - doesn't matter - nature is what it is - random
According to the bible, miracles are miracles. Walking on water, raising the dead, curing blindness with a touch. Shit that can be said : YES - evidence of prayer working / a REAL miracles happened. But that shit doesn't happen anywhere. Only in fairy tales.
@TheHigherVoltage It is evidence of prayer working. It's too coincidental that all of the miracles I listed just happened. If we combine all the miracles and the impossible feats that have happened in life, then we see that the possibility of everything just happening is just absurd. There is a divine authority, and it is not Joe Pesci. Your atheist friend lives because God willed for him to live. Nothing to do with nature. God bless you :)
@Addy4473 "too coincidental"? Is there anything other than your own personal (and biased) judgment on which you determine whether something is "too coincidental" or not?
And maybe you could explain why if "everything happens according to god's will", why would anyone bother to pray in the first place? Isn't that changing biblegod's will?
And if everything does happen according to your god's will, maybe you could explain why he let's priests rape children?
@TheHigherVoltage (CONT) I'm sure out of the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of times that priest's raped innocent children (using "the fear of god" to keep abusing their victims), that many of those innocent children prayed and maybe even begged your loving god to intervene and stop it. Yet we don't hear about even one case of a "miracle save" Instead we hear about serial pedophiles being protected by the Vatican - evil operating in your god's name and he does nothing.
@TheHigherVoltage Well, its' true. It's too coincidental, friend, that all these things happen by chance alone. Very many events in history point to an intelligent designer. For everything to just happen is just improbable. :) Anywho. Praying is how we communicate with God. God knows what we want; He just wants us to pray to Him so that we will stay in touch with Him. As for your explanation, God has His timing with everything. I have heard of a case of a girl that was raped for a few days that
@TheHigherVoltage prayed and she was saved. This isn't a priest relationship, but of course, she was saved. And evil exists in this world because of us; we brought evil here. We're the reasons why evil exists. We deserve pain and suffering; and yet God loves us. Although pain is a part of all of our lives, this life here will demonstrate to God how loyal we are to Him. Yes, these young victims endure a terrible tragedy, and I would do anything I could to stop something like that, but I mean,
@TheHigherVoltage God has His ways of handling things. Tribulations come to strengthen us, and these children will become strong and will rely on God should they seek His heart. He doesn't want them to be molested; but He would rather that happen then let them go to hell. I don't know why He allows it to happen when He has the power to stop it; but we will know when we get to heaven. I can't give you all the answers. But He does love, and He is just. You can't invalidate Him because of something
@TheHigherVoltage like that. So. :) Evil exists; it's just a fact of life. Because evil exists, objective moral values exist. Because objective moral values exist, God exists. So. :)
@Addy4473 oh man...I use to believe in all that crud myself. I'm so glad I grew out of the cult. Maybe someday you'll realize everything you just said was complete fairy tale fiction too, but until then...good luck man. Try not to waste too much money on it.
I see no point in continuing talking about this when : "Because evil exists, objective moral values exist. Because objective moral values exist, God exists. " is the disassociated logic you use. Sorry dude. Good luck.
@Addy4473 people have been saying "accept our invisible friends and join us in our fairy tales or you're evil and will burn in hell and you are god's enemy." " since man first invented gods to explain things their primitive science hadn't figured out. Now it's a tool to control weak-minded wishful-thinkers.
But keep believing an "all loving god" sentences billions of people to eternal torture for not "believing and following" the conartists and the conned claiming to speak for him.
@Addy4473 if there is a god, he/she/it/they are more than welcome to provide real evidence that they exist and are actually represented by one of the thousands of religion mythologies and sects that claim "they all have the one real truth" and I'd be happy. But nothing. Just fairy tales.
Your logic of "evil to objective moral values to god exists" is just about as flawed as apples exist, and oranges exists, therefore blueberries exist.
@TheHigherVoltage Hmm :) well, seeing as how you wish to involve logic into this, lets logically think about this. Without God, objective moral values don't exist. You have yet to argue against that other than to say that you consider it childish; yet I see no evidence against it. You must admit this truth. Secondly, out of the other religions, Christianity is one of very few that claim to not derive from man, but from a higher authority in itself. God is referred to as He. :) But um yeah :)
@Addy4473 (1) Objective morality means that there are set rules for behavior that cannot be changed. But of course, rules for behavior change all the time. Both social and theological. How exactly is any of this "prove" that any god exists? Let alone your god? Logic???
(2) No. Buddhism is the only religion that does not claim to come from a "god". Christianity is exactly like the other 99.9% of religions claiming to "come from god". You really should take a mythology/theology course.
@TheHigherVoltage Christianity has science, archeology, mathematical concepts, historical evidence, astronomical and astrological evidence, and multiple other forms of evidence too. It's the only "religion" (or truth, as I know it to be! and many others as well agree!) that has bite behind it's bark! It's not a tool' it's meant to show that we are created for a reason, that we aren't just accidents doomed for death and nothing more. It gives hope, truth, and light. God's way is the way! Jesus
@Addy4473 and ahahah really? evidence that backs up the bible? "astrological" evidence??? seriously?!?!? Do you even know what the word means? You really should get an education outside of your cult's propaganda.
When you claim is "Christianity is the only religion that..." you label yourself immediately ignorant of every religion outside your own.
@TheHigherVoltage is king. Oh, and your fruit analogy was funny, but a very poor argument. We are talking about moral values. 1. If God exists, objective moral values exist. 2. Evil exists. 3. Since evil exists, objective moral values do exist. 4. Therefore, God exists. Refute that, if you would, dear friend. :) And people put themselves in Hell. It's their lifestyle that puts them in hell. It's their choice. As it is yours. :) God bless you, sir.
@Addy4473 You've never thought about any of this have you :/
(1) Just because "evil" exists doesn't mean "objective morality" does.
(2) Just because a "god" may exist does not automatically mean it is a "just god with rules".
(3) "Evil" is subjective. To WW2 Germans, they were the good guy going against evil. To us, they were evil and we were good. THE ONLY REASON we call them evil and us good now is because WE WON.
(4) Objective morality is a CONCEPT. NOT a provable reality.
@TheHigherVoltage In a world where atheism true (hypothetical, of course) then yes, morals are subjective. However, atheism has no good evidence behind itself. There is no good evidence for atheism. And atheism cannot be confirmed, sadly. It is merely an act of faith, not truly knowing, but merely guessing due to a biased evaluation. Also, I would advise that you hold your tongue before you analyze me, friend. I have love for you, and because I do, I wish to share my love with you. I'm not doing
@Addy4473 morals ARE subjective. NOT objective. Even the morals of your religion.
In the Old Testament, biblegod said slavery was moral - and gave rules for the treatment of slaves. The New Testament NEVER changed those rules, Jesus NEVER said "no slavery", yet I doubt there is a Christian left that would say "slavery is moral".
If there is "objective morality" like you claim, then why did this change?
@Addy4473 But you're right. There is no concrete evidence for atheism JUST THE SAME as there is no concrete evidence for a god - any god - including yours. Most Atheists are Atheists because they simply reject 1 more religion than you do. - they use the same logic as you do...they just don't turn it off for the one they like.
The thing I can never understand is why theists use real logic to reject all other religions - but false logic to justify their own.
@TheHigherVoltage Hey sorry it took so long to continue lol I was letting my aunt on. But um there is evidence for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jesus Christ's life is recorded outside of the Bible; even the affirmation of the empty tomb! His resurrection is real! And I think we use just logic in general lol. For example, compare the authenticity of the Bible itself. It is completely valid, with various manuscripts agreeing with one another. There is a 95% correlation rate between the
@Addy4473 #1 Nothing was ever written about Jesus during his supposed life. The earliest writing comes decades after he supposedly died. Why is that?
@2 of course there is a correlation between old manuscripts and modern writing : the old stuff was constantly collected, destroyed and re-written. But it is not 95%. Not by a long shot. every translation changes the wording. You're parroting propaganda.
#3 the bible gives 4 different accounts of Jesus' supposed resurrection. (CONT)
@Addy4473 #3 (CONT). Have you even read the bible cover to cover? Try it. Nothing adds up. If you think it does, please tell me who told Mary about Jesus rising? for eg.
#4 And which bible is suppose to be authentic? There's literally thousands of types of bibles and they are all different.
#5 No. The bible does not co-incide with all history. The world is not 6000 years old, it's billions. There is no evidence of a global flood. And biblegod is not in the sky reachable by a tower.
@TheHigherVoltage Ah friend. Here's the problem; you're viewing with a biased perspective. Here are facts; one, the original gospels were written decades after because only two of them were of the 12 disciples. The other 2 were apostles of Paul that wished to portray Jesus accurately. Matthew recorded facts during His walk with Jesus. John, the latest gospel, harmonizes with the synoptic gospels. 2. It is 95%. Changing the words does not change the conclusion. 3. I have not, but I'm in the
@TheHigherVoltage process of it. An angel told Mary. However, you're automatically assuming that angels do not exist. You can't prove that they don't. Which of course doesn't mean that they do; however, I do believe in angels as a part of my Christian faith. :) 4. 1000s of Bible's being different? You'll have to explain. 5. That's a literal translation. The Bible's history goes all the way to the creation of the heavens and the Earth. I do believe that coincides with history. The seven days
@Addy4473 (1) ah no. I'm not assuming anything at all. All 4 gospels are completely different regarding the "facts" surrounding many instances, especially the story of the resurrection. Evangelicals often say "the bible is without error" which is not true. there are literally 100s of BLATANT contradictions and errors. (2) There are thousands of versions of the bible. Just about every ruler had his own "god authentic" bible. It's all BS.
@TheHigherVoltage The problem with your killing theory is that you don't understand the concept behind it. Had the Israelites stood idle, they would have been overrun by heathen nations that would have killed many innocent children, women, etc. In your own words, you are only seeing what you want to see. You don't see the reason behind the laws, or behind God's commandments. You pick what seems invalid in your own eyes (which, human logic is prone to error) and invalidate it based on your idea
@Addy4473 The definition of objective morality is unchanging moral law. You claim your god's morality does not change, therefore your god exists. That's not logical.
Here's the bottom line : Your bible disproves objective morality. Read the story of Moses climbing up the mountain TWICE. Your god's "immutable and eternal laws" changed even between these 2 versions.
Read the story and understand that :
(1) defining objective morality DOES NOT prove it's real.
@TheHigherVoltage thousands upon thousands of manuscripts. Also, the history of the Bible coincides with world history; everything! Anyways. God never said that slavery is moral. If you're suggesting the law on stewardship, allow me to explain. That law is set up towards a family that had to offer one of their daughters as a steward towards another family. The laws actually protect the daughter, protecting her from harm, giving her a choice on whether or not she wants to marry, and protecting
@TheHigherVoltage her legal rights. Forced slavery is not condoned in the Bible. The Bible even encourages that employers and employees love one another. Colossians 3:18-24! :) Anywho. You see, you and I are both stewards, in a sense. That is different from slavery. But anyways. :) In the idea that evil is subjective, you and I could name anything as evil. For instance, I could label the adoption of children evil if I so pleased. Now, you would disagree, I'm sure. However, that does not mean
Just because you don't read your Bible or don't go to church doesn't mean you aren't a good Christian. I even know quite a few people who do neither and are better people spiritually than regular attending churchgoers. Isn't it said in church anyway that the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ?
And you honestly have no idea whether or not God is real because you're a human just like the rest of us. And therefore, you are possibly delusional as well.
All here who slam the Bible, what are you doing wrong that the bible says you should not be doing? Gay? Do you think your too cool? You aborted a child? What is it that the bible says you should not do but your doing it anyway? "No one is going to tell me what to do!", is this you? Your either for or against God. If your against, your in satan's hands. He would love to drag your ass to hell. This can be stopped right now! Just ask!

It's not hard to get these "moral" teachings from reading the bible and you'd have a hard time telling people who wanted to follow these teachings that they're wrong from a biblical standpoint.
Richy15251 2 months ago
@Richy15251 The Bible does not demand anyone to stone Homo's or bad children you obviously have not thoroughly read the book. This was a method used in the old testament. It was a law to train past generations and in my opinion to instill fear of the consequences. Moral laws were established by God not through secular discourse if that was the case we would all be morally equal but we all know that humans follow their own morals and ethics according to their culture and society.

@YesYou123333 Generally brainwashing works best on people who think they are smart. With little regard to how smart they actually are.
DeMause 2 months ago
@DeMause actually brainwashing is most effective in poor countries with lower standards of living and poor levels of education. Religiosity tends to correlate with levels of poverty and poor education.
Richy15251 1 month ago

3- religiosity is a word.
Richy15251 1 month ago
@Richy15251 Well since they started using GMO this society has become the most pathetic excuse for a civilization in all human history and we've had cancer, "AIDS", and other diseases on the rise since. And what I'm saying about the one world religion is that they will probably kill everyone who doesn't accept it so atheists would just accept it. On the third topic you learn something new every day I guess.

@d3ltadrive the number of pirates in the world has been steadily decreasing for the past thousand years. Also, the global average temperature has been increasing steadily. @Richy15251 what makes you think that? Is it because you can't understand the blood atonement or is it the mandate to exterminate evil nations that gets you?
SlaveOfCrist 2 months ago
@SlaveOfCrist it's because your book demands that gay people should be killed, disobedient children should be stoned to death and women should be treated as property. It tells you that you should keep slaves, how you should treat your slaves and how hard you can beat them for disobeying you.
Th whole concept of vicarious redemption is immoral. I can forgive you for harming me, but I can't absolve you of your responsibility for hurting other people. Blood sacrifice still isn't moral.

@Richy15251 According to the NIV it is. That NIV, sure is better then that non heretical KJV.

@ranger082469 Then we are in agreement. I'm not lumping all believers together. I just hate it when people WONT DISCUSS IT. @ranger082469 Am I saying that religion is essentially evil? NO, and between you and me...atheists love Christmas. @TiffanyCarey There's no such thing as "biblical proof". If you believe that the bible is true and god exists, then you are basing it on a leap of faith. None of this shit is proven which is why reasonable people don't believe in it.

@TheHigherVoltage That can't be proven by just stating it, friend. I can reverse that and say that 2 hands clasped in prayer accomplish more than 1000 working. I know the works of prayer, and they are indeed miraculous. Open your eyes, my friend. Jesus loves you. :)
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 (CONT)
Why don't ALL prayers work?
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage All prayers are answered if we ask in HIS name. That means that we must have the right attitude about it, and ask for His glory. Jesus also promised suffering, tribulation, persecution, martyrdom, etc. The Christian life isn't a problem free life, but there will be a day when we are rid of evil. And yes, I have evidence! I'm a miracle! Miracles happen! My teacher in 7th grade almost had a heart attack, and they prayed for him, and as they prayed, his face slowly started
Addy4473 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage regaining color! So many parents that can't have children pray to God for children, and end up having them! People with cancer that are given death dates with no hope in the future pray, and the cancer miraculously vanishes! People overcoming addictions through prayers, healing of the sick, all kinds of things! God bless :)
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 uh dude...that's not evidence of prayer working. Pray or not pray, nature will do what it does. Kids or not, cancer or not, addictions or not - doesn't matter - nature is what it is - random
According to the bible, miracles are miracles. Walking on water, raising the dead, curing blindness with a touch. Shit that can be said : YES - evidence of prayer working / a REAL miracles happened. But that shit doesn't happen anywhere. Only in fairy tales.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage It is evidence of prayer working. It's too coincidental that all of the miracles I listed just happened. If we combine all the miracles and the impossible feats that have happened in life, then we see that the possibility of everything just happening is just absurd. There is a divine authority, and it is not Joe Pesci. Your atheist friend lives because God willed for him to live. Nothing to do with nature. God bless you :)
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 "too coincidental"? Is there anything other than your own personal (and biased) judgment on which you determine whether something is "too coincidental" or not?
And maybe you could explain why if "everything happens according to god's will", why would anyone bother to pray in the first place? Isn't that changing biblegod's will?
And if everything does happen according to your god's will, maybe you could explain why he let's priests rape children?
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage (CONT) I'm sure out of the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of times that priest's raped innocent children (using "the fear of god" to keep abusing their victims), that many of those innocent children prayed and maybe even begged your loving god to intervene and stop it. Yet we don't hear about even one case of a "miracle save" Instead we hear about serial pedophiles being protected by the Vatican - evil operating in your god's name and he does nothing.
God's will huh?
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage Well, its' true. It's too coincidental, friend, that all these things happen by chance alone. Very many events in history point to an intelligent designer. For everything to just happen is just improbable. :) Anywho. Praying is how we communicate with God. God knows what we want; He just wants us to pray to Him so that we will stay in touch with Him. As for your explanation, God has His timing with everything. I have heard of a case of a girl that was raped for a few days that
Addy4473 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage prayed and she was saved. This isn't a priest relationship, but of course, she was saved. And evil exists in this world because of us; we brought evil here. We're the reasons why evil exists. We deserve pain and suffering; and yet God loves us. Although pain is a part of all of our lives, this life here will demonstrate to God how loyal we are to Him. Yes, these young victims endure a terrible tragedy, and I would do anything I could to stop something like that, but I mean,
Addy4473 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage God has His ways of handling things. Tribulations come to strengthen us, and these children will become strong and will rely on God should they seek His heart. He doesn't want them to be molested; but He would rather that happen then let them go to hell. I don't know why He allows it to happen when He has the power to stop it; but we will know when we get to heaven. I can't give you all the answers. But He does love, and He is just. You can't invalidate Him because of something
Addy4473 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage like that. So. :) Evil exists; it's just a fact of life. Because evil exists, objective moral values exist. Because objective moral values exist, God exists. So. :)
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 oh man...I use to believe in all that crud myself. I'm so glad I grew out of the cult. Maybe someday you'll realize everything you just said was complete fairy tale fiction too, but until then...good luck man. Try not to waste too much money on it.
I see no point in continuing talking about this when : "Because evil exists, objective moral values exist. Because objective moral values exist, God exists. " is the disassociated logic you use. Sorry dude. Good luck.

@TheHigherVoltage God bless you. :) Open your heart, and let Jesus in.

TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@Addy4473 if there is a god, he/she/it/they are more than welcome to provide real evidence that they exist and are actually represented by one of the thousands of religion mythologies and sects that claim "they all have the one real truth" and I'd be happy. But nothing. Just fairy tales.
Your logic of "evil to objective moral values to god exists" is just about as flawed as apples exist, and oranges exists, therefore blueberries exist.
It's not proof. It's childish, broken logic.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage Hmm :) well, seeing as how you wish to involve logic into this, lets logically think about this. Without God, objective moral values don't exist. You have yet to argue against that other than to say that you consider it childish; yet I see no evidence against it. You must admit this truth. Secondly, out of the other religions, Christianity is one of very few that claim to not derive from man, but from a higher authority in itself. God is referred to as He. :) But um yeah :)
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 (1) Objective morality means that there are set rules for behavior that cannot be changed. But of course, rules for behavior change all the time. Both social and theological. How exactly is any of this "prove" that any god exists? Let alone your god? Logic???
(2) No. Buddhism is the only religion that does not claim to come from a "god". Christianity is exactly like the other 99.9% of religions claiming to "come from god". You really should take a mythology/theology course.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage Christianity has science, archeology, mathematical concepts, historical evidence, astronomical and astrological evidence, and multiple other forms of evidence too. It's the only "religion" (or truth, as I know it to be! and many others as well agree!) that has bite behind it's bark! It's not a tool' it's meant to show that we are created for a reason, that we aren't just accidents doomed for death and nothing more. It gives hope, truth, and light. God's way is the way! Jesus
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 and ahahah really? evidence that backs up the bible? "astrological" evidence??? seriously?!?!? Do you even know what the word means? You really should get an education outside of your cult's propaganda.
When you claim is "Christianity is the only religion that..." you label yourself immediately ignorant of every religion outside your own.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage is king. Oh, and your fruit analogy was funny, but a very poor argument. We are talking about moral values. 1. If God exists, objective moral values exist. 2. Evil exists. 3. Since evil exists, objective moral values do exist. 4. Therefore, God exists. Refute that, if you would, dear friend. :) And people put themselves in Hell. It's their lifestyle that puts them in hell. It's their choice. As it is yours. :) God bless you, sir.
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 You've never thought about any of this have you :/
(1) Just because "evil" exists doesn't mean "objective morality" does.
(2) Just because a "god" may exist does not automatically mean it is a "just god with rules".
(3) "Evil" is subjective. To WW2 Germans, they were the good guy going against evil. To us, they were evil and we were good. THE ONLY REASON we call them evil and us good now is because WE WON.
(4) Objective morality is a CONCEPT. NOT a provable reality.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@TheHigherVoltage In a world where atheism true (hypothetical, of course) then yes, morals are subjective. However, atheism has no good evidence behind itself. There is no good evidence for atheism. And atheism cannot be confirmed, sadly. It is merely an act of faith, not truly knowing, but merely guessing due to a biased evaluation. Also, I would advise that you hold your tongue before you analyze me, friend. I have love for you, and because I do, I wish to share my love with you. I'm not doing
Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 morals ARE subjective. NOT objective. Even the morals of your religion.
In the Old Testament, biblegod said slavery was moral - and gave rules for the treatment of slaves. The New Testament NEVER changed those rules, Jesus NEVER said "no slavery", yet I doubt there is a Christian left that would say "slavery is moral".
If there is "objective morality" like you claim, then why did this change?
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago

(CONT)
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago

Addy4473 1 year ago

Addy4473 1 year ago
@Addy4473 And I'll try this another way. Objective morality is only a proposed concept. It's not provable reality and does not prove any god exists.
That's like saying Santa Clause MUST exist because when I woke up there was a present for me with his name on it.
It's false (immature) logic that allows children to be conned by this "evidence" (along with a mountain of other false evidence).
Your "objective morality" argument is no different.
TheHigherVoltage 1 year ago
@Addy4473 The definition of objective morality is unchanging moral law. You claim your god's morality does not change, therefore your god exists. That's not logical.
Here's the bottom line : Your bible disproves objective morality. Read the story of Moses climbing up the mountain TWICE. Your god's "immutable and eternal laws" changed even between these 2 versions.
Read the story and understand that :
(1) defining objective morality DOES NOT prove it's real.
(2) your god DOES NOT practice it.

@holio84
And you honestly have no idea whether or not God is real because you're a human just like the rest of us. And therefore, you are possibly delusional as well.

Dang, God loves all the bible bashers.
:(
You persecute someone you've never even tried to know.
But He's known you .

Just ask!
