  • Your video is the reason that so many people dream for a beter world. You put dreams in peoples heads with the images and music of this video. Right now i just want they go to Mars. World needs to be proud once again on human intelligence.

  • Very nice music... I'm impressed...

  • I like it !!!

  • I've seen loads of vids on utube, from techno, to 'how to' till 'booty shakin', but this vid, including the music alignment is one of my favorites. It is mind-blowing to hear the music and see the shuttle take of into space like that. Awesome marketing of NASA, and breathtaking proof of what team work can accomplish for the greater good of human kind.

(And if you just want to hear horsepower, there are a ^&*&^load of other vids on utube....)

  • semplicemente meraviglioso!!!

  • The opening shots are of Atlantis, the launch and flight is from STS-99 Endeavour

  • Pause at 1:45, Is that Endeavour i see ?

  • this makes me horny, is that bad LOL

  • @kinghenry0911 Pan Flute. similar to what Zamfir plays

  • is there are difference between starting SS day or night?

  • i love this song and i love this video. Michael Smith rocks

  • pan pipe?

  • @slack7639 Actually it's an Irish low whistle..

  • NOT HD!

  • white and blue....ohh i am so proud to be white and to have a blue eyes....

  • I woulda liked it better WITHOUT the "inspirational" music. The Shuttle is inspirational enough all by itself. It doesn't need the music.

  • Love this video. Great views of the launch and from the orbit, and none of those useless and over-the-top comments "lift off! good roll program! go at throttle up!"... just great views and great music.

  • OMG i love the way this song sounds here. it sounds better than it does on Rhapsoday lol.

  • Odd that this is Atlantis- and at 1:44 it is clearly ENDEAVOUR on the pad.

  • lol yep.

  • As for the music, I know this CD. It's from the CD "Freedom" an instrumental arragement by Michael W. Smith. Great music, heavy with my favorite brass instrument, the french horn. I think it adds to the video!

  • The Second Decade 1993-2003, its on the ad banner.

  • It's either that or corny commentary, because after the launch it gets a bit quiet.

  • What's this from?

There's no "worm" logo on Atlantis' wing, so I can tell it's not from "The Dream is Alive".

    Is it homemade?

    Where'd the song come from?

  • fantastic !!

  • ow wud u like two of them strapped to yer car

  • They ruined it with the music. I wanted to hear a couple million horsepower.

  • I wonder how it feels?? to be in this amazing machine and fly into space and also look down to our world

  • I couldn't agree more, I would love to fly in it. I know the risk, but the rewards is greater.

  • it looks so clean :O

  • It's crazy to see the three engines on the shuttle ignite and cause the whole thing to flex from the thrust.

  • They run those engines up to maximum thrust before the SRBs ignite.

I think it's to make sure they're working.

You'll notice they throttle all the way up, pushing the stack forward, and then let off the gas until it falls back to a vertical position. That's when the boosters light.

  • 00:16 do you see the guy in the window?

  • Awesome video dude!!

  • i can't believe you notice that thx alot...man do i if embarrassed, it was on there for so long to

  • The very idea of falling and missing the ground is incredible, whether it's an unmanned satellite or a space shuttle.

I did notice they did a 180 degree pitch to expose the cargo bay doors to space, that is standard for space shuttle missions correct? The doors act as radiators?

  • yep you are correct

  • @militaryexcellence in the description it says lunch...

  • what do you mean act as radiators? and what is different about the cargo doors that helps this?

  • More accurate to say that the payload bay doors have large radiators mounted to their undersides, through which R-12 Freon refrigerant flows in a cooling loop to evacuate heat from the orbiter's electrical systems. During launch and descent, when the doors must be closed, a water evaporater system cools the electrics. This evaporator is mounted in the aft fuselage, and vents through a port adjacent to the base of the orbiter's tailfin... kind of like a steam locomotive.

  • @zanthrasw They roll after SRB separation and prior to ET separation for communication purposes and to not have a collision with the external tank as it reenters the atmosphere

  • God Bless America :) This is truly amazing!

  • amen!!

  • Sorry but this is actually the Endeavour, STS-99 form February 2000 , the launch segment at least...not Atlantis.

  • it is Atlantis actually - pause at 0:40, my friend

  • It's not all footage form the same mission. The night shots of Atlantis on the pad may be, t but the piece of launch footage I was referring to between 1:38 and 3:00 is in fact an Endeavour launch from 2000, STS-99.

  • ohhh, gotcha... right you are, good point, sir!

  • im sorry to any atheists on here but look at 4:35 , there must be a higher power that masterminded this planet. science could not have created such beauty and wonder.

  • how true

  • no-one has ever said science created it. Science just seeks to explain it, religion does not. Look at the amazingly beautiful complexity of the machines in this video - science DID create that.

  • that is true too, it goes to show you how much science has progressed. i can't wait to see what we will have in a couple of years

  • @HectorProInd HAHA, you sir may be correct. Or my God allowed the men at NASA the ability to conceptualize these advanced designs. So if god created science, then maybe science can only explain what God allows it to, which smashes your point IMO. (<that "IMO" means its my opinion and frankly its futile for you to argue with me because my opinion is made up , but by all means respond I love a good debate)

    btw,whic music is this

  • Michael W. Smith's "Freedom"
