Activity on Private Property that affects the public domain in a negative way will always eventually fall under regulation & taxation, thus air and water affected by the discharge of nicotine, caffeine etc. will ultimately become a liability to any business that engages in profiting from such discharges, and they will accept regulation to avoid the cost of the liability, the concept of private property is an illusion that is neither supported nor protected by government which is why its taxed.
I share your confusion, I think. The point about slavery and private property seems to be a non sequitur vis-a-vis the original discussion. I expect there was a transitional element that he didn't articulate explicitly.
The smoking ban is similar to the helmet law. People have to take responsibility for their own well being and not rely totally on the government. Posting a sign that if you enter this building you may be exposed to second hand smoke should suffice. If they choose not to enter, that is their choice...BTW your kitty is sooooo laid back...regards...
I am a non-smoker also and smoke bothers the hell out of me. I would not patronize a business that allowed smoking there. But it should be up to the business to decide...not the government...regards...

I just recently quit smoking. Yay!!!!
I think that not allowing people to smoke in bars is ridiculous.
I will never understand how someone could call themselves Christians and own another human being. I am a Christian, btw.
