I went to the website and bought a copy of the mining guide. Now i'm about to start a traineeship with BHP Billiton at Mt Arthur coal in the Hunter Valley NSW. Thanks for the helpful ebook. Can't wait to start!
Thanks for all the comments - haven't been back to check this video for a while. I haven't driven the trucks for a while now - quit at the end of 2007, and put my life up for sale on eBay! I went travelling for two years after that, and have ended up in Canada. Just finished a book about the past three years, including a bit of info on the mining job.
It's called "A LIFE SOLD - What ever happened to that guy who sold his whole life on eBay?"
I'm doing some research into Dump Truck Driving, while trying every option to get myself into a mine. Any chance any of you can help? Or just some pointers maybe? I'd love you for it.
Dude nice video watched it a couple times I drive a Unit rig MT 4400 thanks for the video its the life of a hual trucker to a tee up and down the hual road
Yes the trucks shown are huge but EVEN LARGER trucks are planned for the near future. The trucks shown are rated to carry up to 400 tons but the trucks planned in the future will carry 750-1000+ metric tons and have the following: 8000+ HP engines, all-wheel-drive, duplex rear axles, 10 2+meter-diameter wheels each sporting 5+meter-diameter tires, Xenon HID headlights & worklights, and have the following approximate dimensions: 11 meters wide x 11 meters high (dumper down) x 25 meters long.
Great vid bro!! Im picking youre on very good money also!! Do they employ trainee drivers or do you need to get all your licenses etc and have some truck experience first? Cheers mate... all the best
Awesome Video. What make/model of Head Mounted Camera did you use? I work in Fort McMurray Alberta, Canada in an Oilsands Open Pit Mine and I'd love to take some (hidden) footage myself.
Great work on this vid :)... and you can't see any of the security stuff, so don't see why the company would get upset.
Love to get into those machines, but only place around here (Alberta, Canada) they have those machines is up north, and I'd hate to live in a deepfreeze for 8 months a year... gets cold enough where I'm at.
Great Video, I drive a 793D. I started in a open pit then transferd to atop a mountian. That is the best way to show what we do for 12hrs, well i work a 12hrs shift. How far is the run from the bottom to the top loaded? Just woundering how deep it is. My run was 20 mins 1st gear.
Yes, it's 12 hour shifts here too. The bottom of the pit is about 460m below ground level, the run out from there, usually in 2nd gear, is about 25 mins, 40 mins total for a round trip.
too bad the terex 33-19 wasnt around as big was we got around here is a cat 775 i think the gavel pit might have 777 not sure i like the benny hill has that been slowed down lol
