@Skeletoil Apparently - it's before your time - you would have had to see the television series - be alive back then - know the thrill of Route 66 - otherwise - it's just by you - it's a whole era you can totally NOT relate to - especially this theme music to Route 66, the tv show, by Nelson Riddle. It's like this - if you missed it then you just missed it.
I have a 89 vette thats been sitting for ten years I just had other things to do but now I'd like to drive it.........I need to flush the gas lines and not sure what else I need to flush first..??
@haweye79 best Rx for you is 5gallons Sunoco 110 crank it up and drive the wheels off it,we only get on shot at this life ,GO 4 ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.!!!
Not the original FI unit, but the right kind. Sadly the original was swapped out for the carb years ago. Thank you for the comments and glad you enjoyed this.
@JET997u - No, it's not. You are just making that definition up. An instrumental is a piece played purely with instruments, as opposed to a song, which is sung - with vocals.
@CrankCase08 the form of an instrumental may be differant than a song like the theme from the untouchables by riddle which is a funeral dirge also instruments speak faster than singers so how are you going to sing all the notes in route 66 somebody put words on take 5 by dave brubeck but its tuff to sing because its a sax solo the cover of route 66 had a road sighn riddle had another record the sea of dreams with a half naked girl underwater on the cover.
Nice Vette (I've owned 6 and still own 2). "Pit of despair?"
I only WISH my Vettes looked as good as this find after all those years. This was very stock and original before it was restored, and didn't look abused!! Nice find. What was the story behind it and what did the restoration cost???? Thanks for posting!!
Not enough room allowed to tell the story. The pit is our garage. My wife's car owned since about 1967. Met her car through work at a Chevrolet dealer about 1979. Car sat mostly for the last 20 years before restoration. As for price, a finished car is a great deal. Glad you enjoyed the show.
V200DISEL is that a BR 220 or 221? O crap..... now I see the Miniatur-Wunderland so I am right! They have some of my F Units running over there in Hamburg!
Inspired by the TV show entitled Route 66,my best friend and I were going to tour the country after graduation in a 65 Corvette! This posting reminds me of our great friendship and my crazy youthful years. Grand plans for sure, then came Vietnam, the draft and a slight change in lifes plan for me. Thanks for posting this video.
IT'S A SHAME THAT DISC BRAKES WEREN'T AVAILABLE

great job on keeping it stock,HOWEVER nobody would fault you for going with a dual master cylinder and disc brakes.

Love the original style (unique to that year only) hubcaps and blackwalls...

WOW, a million times!! Is that the original F.I. unit that came on it? I noticed
it has a Rochester on it before restoration. GREAT, great job.

The music; cool.
I see todays generation; utterly un-cool, unable to absorb this level of sophisticated theme tune.

It's not a song, it's an instrumental.

An instrumental is a variation of a song. But it's still, first and foremost, a song.

@spacepatrolman That still does not make an instrumental a song and a gong an instrumental. This is an instrumental, not a song.

@CrankCase02 thats what i said its written for instruments its to hard to sing
