Their will be no more contenders that will be able to give anderon a good fight for the rest of his career. He is so on a different level than anybody else when it comes to mma. Jake Shields's takedowns are slow and nothing special, Anderson would stuff them with ease. He would keep Jake on the outside of his reach (because Anderson has a 5.5 inch reach over him), and completely pick Jake apart. I'd say it goes maybe a round before Jake is tasting canvas.

There is a reason why Jake chose to fight GSP instead of Silva.

It's like I said, Jake would never get close enough. Anderson's distance control is top-notch, Jake would never get the opportunity to take him down, and would get stuffed even if he somehow got ahold of him.

Anderson is too smart for Jake. Also, who was talking about a kickboxing match? I was talking about an MMA fight.

I watch more mma than any other sport and have been following it for a long time, and anyone who watches the sport realizes that when the fights go grappling vs striking, the grappling has the advantage. @TheSweatyfatguy Yes, 3 of 7. In the fourth round, Chael reversed Anderson, in the 5th, Anderson slipped and fell on his back. Chael is one of the best wrestlers in MMA. Jake's wrestling is good, but certainly not Chael Sonnen's level.

Let's all keep in mind that Anderson had bruised ribs for that fight (which are actually more painful than broken ribs), and Chael was on steroids.

Anderson was also recovering from surgery on both knees when he fought Lutter.

Also, Dan Henderson's takedown defense is meh at best. And Dan Henderson wasted all of his energy in the first round with Shields.

Shields has nothing for Silva. If you want a real challenge for Silva, it's Jon Jones.

Leites, Lutter, Marquardt, Franklin, Sonnen and Henderson took Silva down, Shields has a chin and is better at submissions than all I mentioned.
