How does this run natively in Steam for Mac? I currently have a MBP which I know won't run it well. My PC is old and shot so I'm weighing my options between an iMac, Mac Pro, or building another PC. I currently play this game on my Xbox, but picked up the deal Valve had yesterday on both games for $7.50. I think this will play way better with a mouse and keyboard.

@RandomActsOfdotCom I can play this game on my 2009 13" Macbook Pro without any problem (reaching around 30fps on lower settings). If you are looking just to play more basic games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2, get an iMac 27" (with upgraded graphics to 2GB), it'll run it great on the highest settings no problem. The Mac Pro will run games better than most gaming pcs, even the custom ones thanks to its 12 core and extreme graphics. PC is no longer an option!

Is this on Bootcamp or are you using virtual machine software? I would imagine you're using Bootcamp since you would have to share the memory if you use virtual machine software but if it is virtual then it's extremely impressive.

@matthijsdegr it shouldn't matter what type of mac you get, depending on the tech specs of the machine, it should work. Remember that in order to get most games like these you'll probably have to dual boot your system with Windows. If you're not sure how to do that, just google "boot camp [windows version]"

(also keep in mind you may want to print that. ^^;)

@matthijsdegr has it ever worked on a Mac alone ? Think about it or google it and if you are wondering how he got it to work he is running bootcamp you can go and google that for yourself. Bootcamp can run a Windows OS which means then you are able to play this game. and plus your hardware has to meet the games requirements if it doesn't say Mac it won't run on a Mac but using bootcamp will solve your problems.

Have you ever used a Mac or are you like I once was, hating them because of what I had heard about them, not what I had found out for myself? Windows is a mess in comparison to OS X, so you buy a Mac for sleek hardware and better OS, and install Windows on a separate partition for any games you want to play that aren't available for Mac. Best of both worlds.

I ran it on a fairly new and nice rig, explorer was slow, took forever to boot up, internet took like 5 minutes to start up. I actually remember the Quake 3 game being much better on Windows than the OS X port. Why do you say Quake 3 ran better on that?

Oh, and probably one of the biggest things...the price. You will literally pay from $300-$1000 just for the apple name.

my build was i7920 overlcoked to3.8, 6gb tripple channel 1600mhz ram evga x58 motherboard 1tb drive gtx 295 intel ssd, windows 7, 28in 1920x1200 monitor, now the only only thing i dont have is all the wireless crap, the only thing that the imac beats it on is the screen, but the video card cant drive that res on that imac on games, so i wouldnt want it anyway
