My friend followed the show & fandom very closely and told me that because the fandom hated Ethan in between Justin and Brian they had to do something to get rid of him & that's what they did cause they knew Ethan's personality could get away with it. *shrug* I don't think it was completely OOC I just feel it wouldn't have all happened so fast if the writers hadn't pushed it.

I do kinda wish the writers would've built up the cheating thing i.e. the viewers could've sensed this character trait a bit earlier on so it didn't seem to out-of-left-field. However, I think if you look at the overarching story that is Justin/Brian it was necessary for Ethan's character to cheat.
