i am currently playing VB1, the problem with it is i keep missing shots all the time? i am trying my best to not miss but i keep getting a really low % rating (especially when i fight in the Gym vs defensive boxers like Ryuichi Hayami and Kenta Hayami ... i dunno maybe i should play VB2 instead

Its Victorious Boxers 2 for the ps2 and its not just better graphics, the amount of fighters is huge and the gameplay is a lot more smoothed out thankfully

Nah, Fight Night is better than this for one reason (I'm excluding graphics): It plays it's part of realism well.

For a video game of Hajime no Ippo, I wanted EXTREME. Like Chuck Norris boxing Ice T and Bruce Lee at the same time extreme. Where's the super wind from the anime? The insane special moves that these guys had? The emphasis on those few moments were what made the anime great. This game lost it, and so it had nothing special. Hell, Contender for the PS might be better.

do you know anything about boxing? body shots do damage and will affect a boxer (particularly legs and stamina) but it will take a lot more time. shots to the head, obviously, will cause your brain to move slightly and hit your skull, causing you to lose consciousness, i.e., lose the game.

Nice Vid. makes me want to bring out the P.S.1 and play or get back into boxing. Either way this game was awesome for its time. I just wish Fight Night would do something about their doge and punch set-up.

Fight night's create a character and graphics are very good. It's game play is clunky compared to the VB series.

Yup, it sure is. There are 3 games in the series. It's called Victorious Boxers. Google "dynamiteglove forums" and you'll get a wealth of information. The main disadvantage of VB is that you cannot 'block' as well as the Fight Night series but footwork REALLY plays a big role. You can side-step, bob and weave & pivot to counter-punch. Or as Cus said to Mike (Tyson), "Once you get to the side, you can let go with woist intentions"!

men i knoout sendo in 10 count in the second round , only try to punch in the abdomn then punch the chin with the right hook and used the left straight when he is exaust, and he dont get up when you knock him with a punch in the body, not in the face.

rennieboy14, I've just got VB: Fighting Spirit (there are 3 games in the PS2 series) and if you mean, do you have to press a certain set of buttons/moves, no.

It's just a shoulder button + a punch button. I think you get special moves after defeating certain opponents. Or, as the game's story progresses (the game is based on a manga series)

sorry, i also forgot to mention-- weave. don't just duck. weave backwards to avoid hooks and straights! on mine i think the default is L2+left analog stick to weave about. :] gd luck

if you stop spamming special moves and use combinations of normal punches (jabs+straights+hooks) and only use specials when you see fit.. (i.e. when you hear the special sound for a badly damaged area of the body).

you become slow because you thorwing worthless pucnches. Stay on the offensive but still dont through stupid punces. let him through a strong hook or uppercut and you counterpucnh. that when you try to get him in the corner. Also hitting him in the body is the key not only for him buy for anybody you fight. that is ippos speicality.

If you don't spam the Dempsey Roll, Gazelle Punch, Deadly Smash, and the Jofre Uppercut, then you won't become slow quite as fast.
