Her translation of the song's meaning is utter BULLSHIT! ..and worse than that is describing the song as a BOLLYWOOD song. Everything that comes from India isn't bollywood missy. These kinda jerks need to realize that... like right now!
I am sorry for the translation.... dying and murdering are not the same! Kolai (கொலை both adjective and Noun) murder.... Veri (வெறி noun) is rage... so it could be translated as murderous rage! This word is commonly used by college students in Tamil Nadu. endaa indha kola veri? (ஏன்டா இந்த கொலை வெறி?). When dogs suffer from rabies, people say, naaykku veri pudichuttu (Dog has caught rage!)... When it has rage it hunts for people.. that is what it means! Please try better translation. Thanks.
it basically means grudge.... strong enough to kill someone... well if i m not wrong.( yenukkum tamil theriyum !!!) everyone have their own meaning.... c'mon... its just to hold a grudge against someone right ??? yennamo pa ! love the song
@dindikanna Ashanti is an Africa born Tamil lady and is an eminent Journalist based in London Buddy. She might not have known the colloquial meaning of kolaveri and wouldn't have intended to insult buddy. Cheers :)
its not about the 'colloquial' meaning. its about the ACTUAL meaning itself. that's the problem.
kolai = murder (not 'to die'). its a noun not a verb and also the meanings are completely different. anyway all we say is she could have done her research or brushed up her Tamil a little. peace bro :)

I think you should rather appreciate the song for making it global than criticizing the way its explained by the journalist. It makes no sense.
