I looked at your video some time ago,and ended up buying identical on on my 48th back in Jan 2010. Great guitar. I'm glad I looked up all the info out there to make my decision. I am extremely happy with mine. As I play at venues, it always gets comments. Not my first Gibo, but there's nothing quite like a Gibson.
i played one of the non-cutaway versions at guitar center and LOVED it .. it was warm and felt amazing in your hands.. only problem was the price tag it was 2000$... so i ended up buying a martin DM on ebay for 500 and you know what... that martin sounds AMAZING poo on those 4k$ taylors man... but i still want a songwriter since i liked it so much
theres two versions. one with no cutaway and the volume knob is hidden inside. its very traditional style and doesnt even look or sound acoustic electric. and this one that my main man xtek has, its got the cutaway and the electronics on the ouside and the onboard tuner and its nicer. but it costs a few hundred more so i couldnt afford it
I've had my Deluxe EC for about a year. I do love this guitar, but it has developed a buzz around the bridge area. I've never had it set up, so I'm taking it in. I've kept it humidified. When I first got it I took it to Dave Manella in Pittsburgh to see what he thought, since it was delivered from one of the big websites. The neck was straight and played nice. He strummed one chord and said "it sounds like a cannon", so I've been calling it the cannon since.
I can vouch for this as an awesome guitar too. Bought one at Parlway Music in Mechanicville, NY in Summer 08 and doubt I'll ever need to upgrade!
The sound is better than you can hear here, I think the eq could maybe be tweaked a bit to make it richer, the adjustable Phase and Notch controls are great too.
my dad has one of those, but its not the EC version, and has a different shaped scratchplate, which (i think) looks nicer, but it is the best sounding acoustic i have EVER heard! it literally SINGS! a wonderful guitar
Well after telling you a while ago i was buying a songwriter deluxe ca like yours. I ended up buying a J-185 ec. Price wise it ended up being the same as the songwriter cuz the dealer wanted to move the last two 2008 185's they had. A little weird getting used to the jumbo body, but i figured if my wife could get used to my jumbo body i could get used to the gibson jumbo. Gibson sound is incredible and without question there is no comparison between gibson and other brands, NONE. Thanks
wondering if you are still glad you bought the SR. I am considering buying one myself and have read some forum comments concerning the action being high out of the box and difficulty getting it setup.
Everything just flows on this guitar. The design of the bridge, the pickguard, the neck inlays, and the classic Gibson headstock and logo. Just a class act all around.
Ive own a Sonwriter Acc/Ele (not the Deluxe), and I thought when I had more money I would upgrade to a J series Gibson....well it has been almost 8 years now and I have no need to upgrade...I LOVE IT!!! and now my daughter is learning with it....It is a great sounding guitar.
I got this guitar on Monday, 3 days ago and I love it. Can't put it away from me. Really loving it, but I think the guitar spoils me a little. This is my first acoustic, and perhaps my last too if I don't go professional, he he.
Did you have any problems with the action being too high? To high as in when you set it up you get buzzing as you lower the action. Those are some of the comments I have read on the forums.
I have had no problems at all with the action, it was a little high from the factory, but my local guitar set it up for me perfectly, fairly low action, and NO FRET BUZZ. A good guitar tech makes ALL the difference. This is a great guitar, don't pass it up.
Hey man, I bought a Gibson Songwriter last weekend. Mine is the non-cutaway with the L.R. Baggs. I thought I was shopping for a Martin D-16, or one of Guitar Center's Martin models until I picked the Gibson up. I still want a Martin at some point but I could'nt let the Songwriter get away. The tone is so rich and I can really bang on it without the top distorting. Plus, apart from the sound, it looks incredible to.
Thanks NiK, Poor quality webcam no proper mic used. I would say the bass is "tight", but projects better than Martin OOOc16 RGTE that it replaced. Sound is soooo subjective, isn't it.
I just ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. At 58 years myself, I'm hoping this will be the last acoustic I ever need to buy.

Great guitar! I'm looking into getting this one myself. Is that a studio or standard model? and what's the difference?

@friggyFilms This one is from 2008 before they made changes in the model line.
You would have to check their website for differences... i'm not sure.
