The production for 2000 B.C. Mic Club, Rip The Jacker, For Whom the Beat Tolls, and Melatonin Magik were all dope. I never understood the beat thing that people talk about. From those albums I just listed the beats were nice. Including various features. Now his Can-I-Bus, C True hollywood Stories, Mind Control, and Hip Hop for Sale beats were generic or bland BUT, I think they fit into that mainstream appeal that it was aiming for (except for Can-I-Bus).
Gotta agree wit you man. First time I heard it I LOVED it , 2nd wasn't really feeling it, 3rd I realized the production was still straight ASS!!!!. Fuck that you better have a dope beat. I guess I got lost from his crazy ass rhymes lol
this album is defintley not about the beat. canibus wanted to get a message out and he did. its up to you rather you understand the message because on this album he's not just spitting lyrics. he spitting the TRUTH back by emoitions. so to me that the rawest and realest thing. to me this one of his best albums thats just how i feel.
Hey man, I understand where people are coming from with the "beats" thing. But "Canibus 2000" is the best rap album, EVER. Dope lyrics. Great beats. Perfectly put together. I still have to check out the new one. But Canibus is the best out there. PERIOD.
I think the beats are dope. I mean, you just said that those beats are not your cup of tea and i understand that, at least you didn't say that they are wack.
i think this album had the second best production out of all of his albums. however, he could have come harder lyrcially..and had less features. it seems like he was trying to get his message across on this album instead of ripping every track to shreds like he usually does. i can respect that, but after "For Whom the Beat Tolls" (which is by far the best album ever lyrically), its a step down in lyricism. Still shits on 99% of all the other rappers tho..just not 99% of canibus' work.
Peace! ripk123, Nope, wasn't smoking.... I gave it a serious listen-- I liked it well enough to give it an ADD On and recommend it-- and I really liked the production on some of the tracks, especially the final track--but I called it a "mixed bag" because like I said, I'm a sample lover-- see the first couple tracks on MicClub-- its just a matter of taste, not quality. I'm a big fan and wish Canibus and everyone involved in the album well with the project! Peace!
@ShawnLov , I see where you're coming from, but honestly I thought 2000 BC and Mic Club had those head nodding beats you speak of! & Rip the jacker had dope beats as well after all it was produced by stoupe the enemy of mankind
Oh snap! yeah.... you're right. that was straight after Resurrection... "Making a name for Ourselves" right?? Yeah... Water For Chocolate was when he had a lot of live instruments and less No I.D... a few yrs later. New Common coming soon!
Bis needs to get back with Stoupe. Rip The Jacker was a masterpiece through and through... beats, lyrics, concept... everything.

I disagree about the beats, those beats that he used on the album are tight and better compare to his previous work.
