Felicia is AMAZING!!! She's currently at the Fulton Opera House in Lancaster, PA in "Hairspray". I saw her last week at opening and she is PHENOMENAL!!!
Loved it and DO think the adaptation of the book was spot on!!! They managed to fit the story into a small space. You must see this if you love great acting and great music. Sad story that needed to be told. 8-)
Sorry, I love musicals and the musical genre, but I just read the book, and I just don't think this adaptation does it justice. As a stand alone piece it seems very good, but as an adaptation of the novel, I don't really like it.
Still a great story though...well, sad and depressing, but very good, if you know what I mean.
I saw this and i couldn't believe how many black people were on stage. Not being racist here or anything. It was awesome though. They can really sing! We had a black conductor as well and it was a Woman. It was all awesome. This was my favorite song, and scene.
I just wanted to tell you that I've wanted to comment on your comment for the longest, but I've been afraid to because i didnt' want to bump it off the first page of the comments. It is such an accurate description of how that woman's face looks and how she says it. i crack up every time i read it. So much in a look and two words!
What EVA!! Where is the original music from the film??? Opie didn;t get the rights or kick backs?? So no, "Sista" or any other film song but. OF COURSE One of HER lines is a featured song. Go pound fucking salt OPRAH! All she cares about is M.O.N.E.Y. Sister my ASS!!
as you know when you do something thats been done you have to do it different so it can be shown in a new way......the movie didnt have many songs in it....what movie did you watch
Why did they cast a pretty person for Celie? That's not supposed to be lol.

A song that everyone should live by - "If a man raises his hand -- Hell no!"
