Well, I believe being pro-life goes way beyond just the abortion issue. Life begins at conception, but that doesn't mean it ends at birth. And that does include protections for people who are disabled. There was one down syndrome baby who survived a botched abortion and was left to die. There was also a case in England of a baby born pre-mature 2 days before it was legally viable, and was denied medical care because of it (the mother cried out for help but no one helped this child).

FYI: My views on this issue have absolutely nothing to do with religious beliefs. In fact, my mother believes in a woman's right to choose, and actually lead me for years into thinking abortion was ok because it's not really a baby yet. I became pro-life only when I did research on the scientific facts. I learned a lot of things I was sort of decieved about in the past including how the procedure is actually done. If you asked my mother how an abortion is done, she wouldn't have an answer.

I never said that, you're jumping to conclusions. I don't believe most abortions are late-term. However, if you're talking about aborting a child you found out had some pre-existing birth defect or something like down syndrome, that couldn't be determined in the first trimester. Doctors couldn't determine that until at least the second trimester. But that doesn't mean that I think the majority are done in the third trimester. Not that it really makes a difference..
Down Syndrome is a condition where you have too many chromosomes. This can be determined days after conception because it only takes the examination of a single cell to see the extra chromosome. Just like it makes no difference if you run over a 5-year-old or if you run over a senior citizen. People will argue that it's different. The denfese lawyer would probably say something like,"well this man was 78 years old, he lived his life." But for the 5-year-old, people would make a big deal about it because that kid's life was cut short. I personally don't see any difference. Killing is killing no matter the age of the victim. God answers questions and resolves issues much the same way as stale pizza does. The answer is yes , no , or maybe. If you switch out "God" for "Stale Pizza" or "Milk" or "Rotten Eggs" you get the same results with prayer to any of these items. Prayer is a cop out excuse for not taking action. Well, I believe being pro-life goes way beyond just the abortion issue. Life begins at conception, but that doesn't mean it ends at birth. And that does include protections for people who are disabled. There was one down syndrome baby who survived a botched abortion and was left to die. FYI: My views on this issue have absolutely nothing to do with religious beliefs. In fact, my mother believes in a woman's right to choose, and actually lead me for years into thinking abortion was ok because it's not really a baby yet. I became pro-life only when I did research on the scientific facts. I learned a lot of things I was sort of decieved about in the past including how the procedure is actually done. If you asked my mother how an abortion is done, she wouldn't have an answer.

GP-yes you have been deceived into thinking most if not all abortions are late term. The reality is that 99% of abortions are done in the first trimester when the fetus is really still a zygote-a small clump of cells.

I never said that, you're jumping to conclusions. I don't believe most abortions are late-term. However, if you're talking about aborting a child you found out had some pre-existing birth defect or something like down syndrome, that couldn't be determined in the first trimester. Doctors couldn't determine that until at least the second trimester. But that doesn't mean that I think the majority are done in the third trimester. Not that it really makes a difference..

Down Syndrome is a condition where you have too many chromosomes. This can be determined days after conception because it only takes the examination of a single cell to see the extra chromosome. Abort that sucker and save the world a financial nightmare and the soon to be life form a travesty. Abort it before it becomes a genetic abomination. Welcome by the way to the way life works. Just like it makes no difference if you run over a 5-year-old or if you run over a senior citizen. People will argue that it's different. The denfese lawyer would probably say something like,"well this man was 78 years old, he lived his life." But for the 5-year-old, people would make a big deal about it because that kid's life was cut short. I personally don't see any difference. Killing is killing no matter the age of the victim. That goes for first or third trimester children.

There is no conscious thought or fear of death at this point. If there was no abortion we would be living in a world with 100's of billions of people scraping by on rice and basic protein supplements scavenged from the billions who died each day from disease war and crime brought on by competition for limited resources. So, the definition of life is conscious thought and/or fear of death? This is a much more subjective and arbitrary definition of life than conception. At least with conception, something exists post-conception that didn't exist pre-conception - something new with its own genetic material and trajectory. Your definition could very easily apply to animals and very easily not apply to born, fully grown human beings, making it either worthless or dangerous, or both.

@flynvfae I once prayed to a piece of stale pizza that I would get a good job as a bit of a joke. Surprisingly the next week I did indeed get a fantastic job. God answers questions and resolves issues much the same way as stale pizza does. The answer is yes , no , or maybe. If you switch out "God" for "Stale Pizza" or "Milk" or "Rotten Eggs" you get the same results with prayer to any of these items. Prayer is a cop out excuse for not taking action. I revert to my previous statement.
