other shows were also made at the time based the artwork of certain creators. the Spawn series was based on Todd McFarlane's art, The Maxx series captured the art of its book, Savage Dragon did as well, though it lacked everything else that made the comic memorable, like the female villain who fought by shooting geysers of blood out of her vagina when she was on her period *goddamn!!* The Tick cartoon did a good job at this too. the cartoons may not have always been so good, but the artwork was.
it's no surprise that the art style of this show resembles the X-Men cartoon. Jim Lee's artwork was very popular in the 90s, and the art style for both shows were based on his brand of comic book art, having drawn both X-Men, and then creating and drawing Wildcats, each before these two shows went on air. he was a very influential artist who shaped 90s comics allot. sadly this show was never on any of the networks where I lived in Connecticut, but it's cool to look at it now.
I watched this show as a kid, but as an adult I actually read the comic it's based on -- turns out there's a lot of sex and violence that got toned down significantly for the cartoon. Also smarter writing and better visuals.
@xtassadar1 Yeah, it probably got made to capitalize on the X-Men cartoon. Jim Lee drew X-Men in the early 90s before co-founding Image and creating the WildC.A.T.s, and actually designed the costumes Cyclops and Jean wore throughout the X-Men show.
@xtassadar1 Kinda wildcats was created by Jim Lee after leaving X-men he did the new costume designs that they used on the cartoon series. He also created Gambit. So yeah its natural that wildcats and X-man look similar.
This was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. That was the shit when I was 10 years old. My favorite characters were Grifter and Spartan. I liked Grifter more because he shared my last name which I thought was the greatest thing ever at the time. I recently bought a Grifter comic book from back then.
WildC.A.T.S. was actually based on a comic book at the time produced by Image Comics. But I cant remember much beyond that.
Too bad I couldn't talk my high school into using this theme back in the day. The football team of my school was the Warren County Wildcats, so I thought it would've kicked ass.

God the 90s had such horrible costumes. No wonder comics have revived Silver Age costumes. I do not want to see another character with metal fingernails and a ponytail.

Bionic 6 had better animation and a better music score, all together now "We are a family. Fight for them and they fight for me..." To Wildcats' credit though, Grifter was hardcore and maybe Zealot. The rest are all boyscouts.
I remember this show. I used to watch it ever Saturday morning, after ballet before Xmen. I was so mad when they canceled it because it was really getting good. Definitely better than the Avengers, only because it focused on the more mature storyline that the comic had going on.
@stoner031984 Damn straight. I'm 20 so i didn't see a lot of them but the ones i had beat the shit kids are watching now, i want a cartoon of Hannah Montanna beating beaten to a bloody pulp by some 90's cartoon characters

Bionic 6 had better animation and a better music score, all together now "We are a family. Fight for them and they fight for me..." To Wildcats' credit though, Grifter was hardcore and maybe Zealot. The rest are all boyscouts.

What about Voodoo, the stripper.

I remember this show. I used to watch it ever Saturday morning, after ballet before Xmen. I was so mad when they canceled it because it was really getting good. Definitely better than the Avengers, only because it focused on the more mature storyline that the comic had going on.

I liked the show, but they inexplicably made Mr. Majestic into a bad guy (he's the Wildstorm Universe's version of Superman.)
