  • i was looking for a picture of a belcom found this vid instead then u started speaking recognised the voice straight away pleased your still operating mark.

  • @ghanditw Hello Mark.........please enlighten me to who you are please...........LOL, it's not TRC Mark is it?

  • Is this stuff legal ???? I thought that to work dx bands, you needed a ham license ? Wow !!!! ;-)

  • @amateurextra58 Well the radio is legal, so am I as I have full UK Ham licence and I am only RXing. In Europe it is perfectly legal to work DX on CB Radio ,But NOT in the Freeband on SSB like these fellas are doing........it is ilegal fairly much worlwide, not that that stops anyone though......Dave M0OGY UK.

  • What antenna was that connected to?

  • @omentk A Shakesphere ABS 1600 Army Bigstick with an 8 section radial kit @ around 33 foot up...........so a decent one!!

  • those radios will be antiques 1 day.

  • There nearly antiques now, as it's 29-30 years old Ian!!!...........an awesome radio, only the size of a Cobra but 2 1/2 times as heavy!!!

  • I worked in a TV repair shop that sold and serviced CB radios as a young 'un back in '81, and people quite often asked of we could get these rigs. Licenced amateurs, quite often, who wanted one for ten metres in the car. They're nice radios. I'd have given my right arm for one back then.

  • Yes this one is a "Minter" and came in its box with bracket and stock Mic and owners handbook. The funny thing was the VFO worked in reverse!!!!,anyway a fellow ham, whos a top guy sorted it and set it all up....result.I also have one in fair/good condition as a back up that works fine, but maybe in the future it could be a help to keep this running if all else fails!!!.Most of these were modded to work 26-30,(you pull th NB out on the squelch!).I have many CB mags from the 80's showing these ...

  • the adverts show Lowes at Matlock in Derbyshire selling them for near on £300.Compared to a Cobra 148 GTLDX or a Ham Int Multi mode these are very solid and heavy....built to last!!!..............73's DAVE (M0OGY) North Lincolnshire................P.S...........another Belcom video will be uploaded tonight......have a look!!!

  • A very nice radio! Never seen here in germany!! 73s!

  • Thanks ,they were made in Japan in around 1980/81 are were a "Proper" 10 meter radio, with a small mod (you pull the NB switch out on the squelch ) they work 26-30 Mhz...........I bet 90% sold in the UK were so modded.I own two of these "Jems".......thanks for the friends invite!....73's DAVE
